Robert Stratford, the king's ambassador at Avignon, was instructed to bring the question of this preb. to the pope's notice. Having been instructed by Baldock to settle the matter, he res. Baldock's claims in his name (see Select Pleas K.B. IV 131). Royal conf. 17 Sept. 1324 of card. Gaillard's rights in both prebs. (CPR. 1324-1327 p. 36). Gaillard d. 20 Dec. 1356 (Eubel I 15). News of this does not seem to have reached Linc.-Gaillard occ. as preb. Sept. 1357-Sept. 1358. Then no preb. given for Milton Ecclesia till Sept. 1364-Sept. 1365 (Linc. Accounts Bj/2/6 lists, s.a.).
