Footnotes

  • 1. There is no evidence that a cardinal William held the archdcnry after the d. of Simon Langham in 1376 as stated by Le Neve-Hardy.
  • 2. There is no evidence that Richard Owen died in possession of the archdcnry in 1465 as stated by Le Neve-Hardy. Andrew Holes occ. as archdcn. in 1468 (Reg. Stillington p. 29), and appears to have held the archdcnry consistently from 1450 to 1470.
  • 3. Nix was prov. to the bpc. of Norwich in Feb. 1501, but since Thomas Jane, the previous bp., d. in Sept. 1500, Nix was probably el. bp. in that year. There is no account of his election.
