	Petteworth, Sutton, Doneketon and Heyshete. The manors and the advowson of the church of Petteworth held of Richard earl of Arundel by service of 22 knights’ fees without any yearly rent. He died on 26 February, 26 Edward III. Henry his son, aged 30 years, is his heir.

	A tenement and eight shops with solers built thereon within Aldresgate, worth 7l. 10s. 8d. yearly, from which [sum] are to be subtracted 20d. yearly to the sheriffs of London for socage in aid of the farm of the city and 4s. quit rent to the church of St. Martin le Grand, London, and 45s. yearly for repairs. The premises are held of the king in free burgage as is the whole city of London. He had no other lands &c. within the liberty of the city. He died on 28 February, 26 Edward III. Heir as above, aged 30 years and more. [The enrolment contains a mandate of 8 March, 26 Edward III, to the mayor to deliver the premises in London to William de Neuton, parson of the church of Arneclif, and Walter de Topclif, parson of the church of Scorburgh, who have been appointed guardians of the lands late of Henry de Percy, and a certificate of the mayor that he has delivered the same, 10 March.]

	Luthford. Eight marks yearly rent from the prior of Sixill from his manor there, held of the king in chief by a twentieth part of a knight’s fee only. He died on 27 February, 26 Edward III. Henry de Percy, knight, his son, aged 24 years and more, is his heir.

YORK.	Inq. taken at York, 22 March, 26 Edward III.
	Spofford, Toppeclif, Semere, Nafferton, Lekyngfeld, Clethorp and Catton. The manors with their members (extents given, with field names) the deceased formerly held in fee simple and gave them to John de Crayk, clerk, who by his charter gave the same to the said Henry de Percy and the heirs of his body, with remainder to his right heirs, by a fine levied in the present king’s court. The premises, except Catton, are held of the king in chief as of the crown by homage and fealty and by service of six knights’ fees and of rendering to the king and his heirs yearly at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff for the fines of the wapentakes of Herthill, Dikeryng, Buccros, Pikeryng, Brudeford and Clarhowe, 46s. 8d. The manor of Catton is held of the earl of Chester by knight’s service. Spofford. The extent of Spofford includes parks called ‘le Oldpark’ and ‘le Neupark’ with deer (feris) and a common wood called Spoffordhagh: the appurtenances of this manor here extended are Lynton, Letheley and Arlethorp. Toppeclif. The appurtenances of the manor of Toppeclif are Gristhwayt, Ayscenby, Dalton, Skipton, where there used to be a ferry across the Swale, and now there is a bridge, and Neuby on Swale. The extent of the manor of Toppeclif includes the parks called Moskewyth and Berbelond with deer and a fishery in the Swale, for which a tenant at will renders 13s. 4d. yearly. Semere. The extent of Semere includes a several wood called Ravenclif and meadow in places called ‘le Hallewyk,’ ‘Apeltres’ and ‘Littelwyk,’ a several pasture called ‘Frerehok’; its appurtenances extended are Irton and Everley and Aton, in the last of which is a wind-mill called Thurstanbymilne. Nafferton. The extent of Nafferton includes meadow in Wandesford, a fishery in the Skirne, rents of tenants in Wandesford, Pokethorp, Wyndesom and Fosceton, which are appurtenances of Nafferton. Lekyngfeld. In Lekyngfeld is a park with deer &c., and under the same settlement the said Henry held, besides the manor, a tillage (culturam terre) of Peter de Malo Lacu by fealty and service of 14s. yearly. Cletop. The extent of Cletop includes a halmote at Setill and a weekly market on Tuesday, a yearly fair on the feast of St. Lawrence at Setill and rent of the burgesses there, a water-mill and rents at Gikeleswyk and tenants at will and gresmanni at Langestrethre, Setill, Gikelswyk and Langestrethre being appurtenances of Cletop. Catton. The extent of Catton includes a fishery in the water of Derewent, the herbage of Coltcroft and a park with deer, rents of tenants of the soke of Catton, works of cottars of Catton and Staynfordbrig, a ferry across the river Derewent at Kexby and three water-mills and two fulling-mills at Staynfordbrigg. Kirkelevyngton. The manor (extent given) held of John Darcy by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee. Beverley. A yearly rent of 8s. held of the archbishop of York by fealty and service of 1d. yearly. Bynyngton. Certain tenements (extent given) held of Thomas de Twenge by knight’s service. Tadecastre and Pokelyngton. A yearly rent of 11l. 12s. 10 3/4d. The deceased was sometime seised of the manors and gave them to Henry de Percy the younger and Mary his wife and the heirs male of their bodies, rendering the aforesaid rent and the services due to the chief lords, with reversion to the said Henry de Percy the elder and his heirs by fine levied in 9 Edward III. The said manors are held of the king in chief by service of three knights’ fees. York. A messuage in the city held of the king in burgage by service of rendering for husgable by the hands of the bailiffs of the city 1d. yearly. The said messuage renders nothing yearly because it lies vacant, and it was the said Henry’s inn (pro hospicio) on his visits (adventibus) to York. He held no other lands &c. in the county. The castle and manor (extent given) with the towns &c. of old pertaining thereto, viz. the boroughs of Alnewyk and Alnemoth, the towns of Denewyk, Lesscebiry, Great Houghton, Tughalle, Swynhowe, Chatton and Alnehame (extents given) and a piece (placeam) of pasture called Swynleysches held of the king in chief in fee tail by homage and fealty and by service of twelve knights’ fees as of the barony of Alnewyk and by service of 60s. yearly at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff and by suit at the county of Northumberland every six weeks. The extent of the said castle and manor includes herbage of the castle moat, a several pasture, viz. Wollemer, rents from the towns of Ourebotleston and Toggesdon, a fishery in the water of Coket and a wood called Sundreland. The extent of Aklyngton includes the site of a chief messuage, a windmill, park, and halmote. The extent of Rothebiry includes 20 shielings (skalinge) in the forest of Rothebiry, rent of burgages and a yearly rent of 14s. called ‘Fensilver,’ payable at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist only. The extent of le Neweton includes a land called ‘Storeland’ and a fulling-mill. The extent of Snyttre includes a meadow called ‘Brademedwe’ and a plot of land called Chirland. Corbrig. The borough (extent given) held of the king in chief in fee tail by fealty and by service of rendering yearly to the king in the exchequer 40l. of old farm and increment thereof and 10s. yearly by the hands of the sheriff. The extent includes a plot of land called ‘Waldefleys,’ a wood called ‘Lynels,’ a plot of land called ‘Prendestretland,’ a house called ‘Tollebogth,’ farmed for 6s. 8d. yearly, a plot of waste called ‘les Aldehals,’ a yearly rent of 10s. from the mill of Develeston, and two water-mills. He held no other lands &c. in the county. He died on 27 February last. Henry his son, aged 30 years at least, is his heir. 44.	WALTER DE HOUBY, knight.
	Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of Walter de Houby, knight, 4 February, 26 Edward III.
LEICESTER.	Inq. taken at Houby, 12 April, 26 Edward III.
	Modburne. 10s. rent held of the king in chief by service of a quarter of a twentieth part of a knight’s fee. He held no other lands &c. in the county. Houby. Certain lands, tenements and rents held of the gift of one John Bernak for his life by a fine levied in the court of King Edward II, with remainder to Agnes daughter of Gilbert de Houby, son of the said Walter, and the heirs of her body; which Agnes survived the said Walter and entered upon the said tenements and continued her estate therein and gave the said tenements in fee to Alice late the wife of Roger Beler and Katherine late the wife of Henry de Notyngham, who survive. The said tenements are held of Katherine late the wife of Henry de Notyngham by knight’s service. Walter died on 27 June, 23 Edward III. The said Agnes died in the pestilence on 23 September, 23 Edward III. John de Fritheby, son of Robert de Fritheby and the said Agnes his wife, is her heir and also kinsman and heir of the said Walter and was 15 years of age at St. John the Baptist last and was married in the lifetime of the said Agnes, his mother.
