280. MARGARET, ONE OF THE DAUGHTERS AND HEIRS OF JOHN DE CANTELOU.
Writ, on the assumption of the habit of religion by the said Margaret, a minor in the king’s wardship, whose father, John de Cantelou, held by knight’s service of the heir of Laurence de Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, also a minor in the king’s wardship. 30 March, 30 Edward III.
WILTS. Inq. taken at Weremenstre, Monday after St. Ambrose, 30 Edward III.
No lands &c. came to the king’s hands by the death of John de Cantelou and the minority of Margaret, one of his daughters and heirs, because the said John, on the day he died, held none in the county. The said Margaret assumed the religious habit on Sunday before the Annunciation last in the monastery of Ambresbury, and on the same day was professed there.
Emma her sister, the other daughter and heir of the said John, aged 17 years and more, is her heir.

281. ELIZABETH, LATE THE WIFE OF WILLIAM DE LA PLAUNKE.
Writ of certiorari to John de Swynnerton, escheator in co. Stafford, 14 June, 30 Edward III.
Quoting the finding of an inquisition (fn. 1) after the death of the said William that Katherine, one of his daughters still surviving, and Joan his other daughter, now dead as is said, were then his heirs, and that Elizabeth his wife was pregnant, and enquiring whether the said Elizabeth bore the offspring of which she was then pregnant, its sex and age and whether the said Joan is dead.
STAFFORD. Inq. taken at Enefeld, 3 July, 30 Edward III.
The said Elizabeth bore the said offspring, a daughter called Elizabeth, who still survives, aged nine years. The said Joan, William’s daughter, died on the octave of St. John the Baptist, 23 Edward III, at Berscote. Elizabeth was married with the king’s licence to John son of Fulk de Burmyngham.

Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said Robert and who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 1 November, 30 Edward III.
CUMBERLAND. Inq. taken at Carlisle, 12 May, 30 Edward III.
Raghton. A messuage, 7a. 3r. land held of the king in chief by service of 2s. 4d. yearly payable at the Exchequer of Carlisle.
He died on 20 October, 22 Edward III. John, son of Nicholas Stubbe, aged 6 years, is his heir.
John son of John son of Simon de Raghton afterwards occupied that land and still holds it.

Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said John and who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 24 October, 30 Edward III.
CUMBERLAND. Inq. taken at Penreth, 4 April, 30 Edward III.
Ulvesby. An eighth part of the town held of the king in chief by homage and service of 12d. yearly for cornage and of 3s. 9d. yearly at Carlisle.
He died on 10 May, 26 Edward III. John his son, aged 24 years and more, is his heir.
Since the said John’s death the escheator has accounted for the issues to the king.

284. JOHN DE HOLT.
Writ, 24 June, 30 Edward III.
NORTHAMPTON. Inq. taken at Cotherstoke, Monday before SS. Simon and Jude, 30 Edward III.
Hale. A messuage and a carucate of land, with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief by petty serjeanty and by rendering yearly at the Exchequer 9s. for all other services. The premises are worth nothing now, because no one dwells nor has dwelt in Hale since the pestilence. There are 4a. meadow there, which at present are of no value, because they have been grazed over and burrowed (cuniculat’) by the beasts (feras) of the king’s forest of Clyve because within the forest.
He held no more lands &c. in the county.
He died on the feast of St. Dunstan last. Peter de Holt, his brother, aged 40 years and more, is his heir.

Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said William and who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 6 October, 30 Edward III.
DORSET. Inq. taken at Shyrborn, Wednesday the feast of St. Andrew, 30 Edward III.
He held no lands &c. in the county.
He died on 18 May, 29 Edward III. John, son of his brother John Marlebergh, deceased, aged 26 years and more, is his nephew and heir.

GLOUCESTER. Inq. taken at King’s Barton by Gloucester, Saturday the feast of St. Barnabas, 30 Edward III.
Pichenecomb. A carucate of land and 22s. rent held by service of 5s. yearly rent payable at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff.
She held no more lands &c. in the county.
She died on 12 May last. John Maundevill, her son, aged 34 years, is her heir.

[Coten?] A messuage &c., 16a. land, 16a. 3r. meadow, a plot of several pasture before the gate, 25s. 3 1/2d. rent of free tenants, 1lb. wax or 5d., and 1/2lb. pepper or 6d., held of the heir of Laurence de Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, by knight’s service.
He died on Thursday before the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 30 Edward III. Richard Besevyle, his son, aged 3 years and more, is his heir.

Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said John, 28 June, 30 Edward III.
The endorsement refers to inquisitions, but there is only one annexed.
ESSEX. Inq. taken at Chelmersford, Friday before St. James the Apostle, 30 Edward III.
Moerton. A messuage and 12a. land in the town held of the king in chief, by gift of Richard de Skeryngton, clerk, to him and his heirs, with the king’s licence, held as parcel of the manor of Moerton, which is held of the king in chief by socage, viz. by service of finding a horse, price 10s., and a sack of leather with an iron pin (chevili) in the king’s army in Wales for 40 days.
Moerton. A messuage and 46a. land and meadow held of Master Nicholas de Sandwico by socage, viz. by service of 18s. rent yearly.
He died about the feast of St. Peter’s Chains, 23 Edward III. John, son of Thomas his brother, aged 9 years and more, is his heir.

290. WILLIAM ALAYNSON.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said William, who held by knight’s service of the fees late of William de Coucy, which were lately in the king’s hand, and as to who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 25 November, 30 Edward III.
WESTMORELAND. Inq. taken at Kirkby in Kendale, 20 January, 30 Edward III.
Stirklandketell. A messuage and a moiety of a bovate of land held of the above fees by homage and by service of a pair of white spurs yearly.
He died on 20 October, 23 Edward III. Elizabeth his daughter, aged 18 years and more, and Sibyl, daughter of Christina his daughter, aged 10 years and more, are his heirs.
Thomas de Stirkland, who lately had the king’s commission to keep all the knights’ fees late of William de Coucy in the county of Westmoreland, answering to the king for the issues, had possession of the premises and received the profits thereof until he delivered them to Robert de Tillioll, escheator.

BUCKINGHAM. Inq. taken at Crendon, Tuesday after St. Peter’s Chains, 30 Edward III.
Crondon. A third part of the manor held in dower of the king as of the Marshalsea by service of serjeanty.
She held no other lands &c. in the bailiwick.
She died on Wednesday before St. Barnabas. Roger de Mortuo Mari, earl of March her son, aged 24 years and more, is her heir.

HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES. Inq. taken in the castle of Hereford, Saturday after the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 30 Edward III.
Kenthlees. The castle and town and the cantred of Melenyt in Wales held in dower of the king in chief by service of a knight’s fee.
She held no other lands &c. in the said county or march.
She died on Monday before St. Barnabas. Roger, son of Edmund de Mortuo Mari, of full age, is her heir.

STAFFORD. Inq. taken at Arleye, 1 July, 30 Edward III.
She held no lands in dower in the county.
Arleye. The manor held for her life of the inheritance of the aforesaid Edmund, late her husband, of the king in chief by knight’s service.
She died on Wednesday the eve of the Ascension last. Heir as above, aged 25 years and more.
SALOP. Inq. taken at Cluburye, 2 July, 30 Edward III.
She held no lands in dower in the county.
Clubury. The manor, except the park and chace, held for her life of the inheritance of the aforesaid Edmund of the king in chief by knight’s service.

292. ELA, LATE THE WIFE OF ROBERT FITZ PAYN.
Writ, 13 February, 30 Edward III.
SOMERSET. Inq. taken at Bruggewater, Monday the feast of St. Peter in Cathedra, 30 Edward III.
Stokecursi and Radeweye. The manors with the advowsons of the churches, and the hundred of Canyngton.
Wynyate. A messuage and a carucate of land.
La Lude. A messuage and two carucates of land.
All held for her life of the king in chief by knight’s service, and remaining to Robert, son of Richard Grey of Codenore, and Elizabeth his wife and the heirs of the body of the said Robert by fine levied in the king’s court, Ela and the said Robert Fitzpayn, sometime her husband, having died without heirs of their bodies.
The said Ela died on Tuesday before St. Peter in Cathedra last, but who is her heir the jury know not, because she has none begotten of her or otherwise known in the county.
She had no other lands &c. in the county.
DORSET. Inq. taken at Blaneford, Thursday after St. Peter in Cathedra, 30 Edward III.
Mersshwode. The manor and advowson of the church held for her life of the king in chief by knight’s service. The remainder belongs to Lionel, the king’s son.
Acforde. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held for her life of the abbot of Glastonbury by knight’s service. The remainder belongs to Robert, son of Richard Grey of Codenore, and Elizabeth his wife and the heirs of the body of the said Robert by fine levied in the king’s court.
The said Ela and the said Robert Fitzpayn, sometime her husband, died without heir male of their bodies.
She died on Tuesday before St. Peter in Cathedra last, but who is her heir the jury know not, because she had none begotten of herself or in any way known in the county.
She had no other lands, &c. in the county.

Asington. The manor (extent given, including 30a. of wood) held for her life, of the inheritance of Robert Corbet, knight, of the king in chief as of the honour of Hatfelde Peverel by suit of court every three weeks.
She died on 3 July last. Robert Corbet, knight, son of John Corbet, aged 26 years and more, is her heir.

Faccombe. A chief messuage &c., 100a. uncultivated land lying in the common fields, 100a. wood, 21s. 1 1/2d. from five free tenants, 4l. 15d. yearly from sixteen villeins and 10s. yearly from seven cottars held of the king in chief by homage and by service of a fifth part of a knight’s fee.

Haburgh. A messuage, six bovates arable, each containing six acres, 12a. meadow flooded by the sea, and 4l. 4s. yearly rent of free tenants, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Kyrnyngton. A toft, five bovates arable, each containing eight acres, and 100s. yearly rent held of the king in chief by the services aforesaid.
Keleby. 25s. 6d. yearly rent from free tenants held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
He held no other lands &c. in the county, so far as the jury can ascertain.

Frense. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held jointly with the said Joan by fine levied in the king’s court, of Robert de Benhale by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.
Frense, Disce, Osmundeston, Thelveton and Little Thorp. Eight messuages, 100a. land, 10a. meadow, 20a. pasture, 3a. wood and 60s. rent held jointly with the same Joan by fine levied in the king’s court.
He died on Monday after the Nativity of St. John the Baptist last. John, son of Thomas de Loudham, kinsman of the deceased, aged 4 years and more, is his heir.
SUFFOLK. Inq. taken at Stuston, 13 July, 30 Edward III.
Loudham. The manor held jointly with Joan his wife, who survives, of Robert de Benhale by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.
Glemham. Certain tenements held jointly with the same Joan by fine levied in the king’s court, of Robert de Benhale, as parcel of the abovesaid service (?).
Todenham. A messuage and 60a. land held jointly with the same Joan of Thomas de Wachesham by service of 4d. yearly.
Herlaston, Chelmundton and Wolverston. A messuage and 80a. land held jointly with the same Joan and the heirs of the said John and Joan, of Roger de Wolverston and Lora Breton by service of 16s. yearly.

297. PAIN ATTE NASH.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said Pain, who held of the heir of Geoffrey de Cornubia, late a minor in the king’s wardship, and as to who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 24 October, 30 Edward III.
HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES. Inq. taken in the castle of Hereford, Tuesday before St. Edmund the Bishop, 30 Edward III.
La Rode in the fee of Stapelton. A messuage and a virgate of land held of the above heir by service of 7s. yearly as of the fee of his castle and manor of Stepelton in Luggeharneys. By the custom of the fee, whoever holds land of the said castle and manor, the lord thereof shall have the wardship of his heir, being a minor. The said tenements are worth nothing, because Roger de la Nassh holds them for his life by demise of the said Pain.
Nassh. A messuage, two carucates of land and 15s. yearly rent held of Ralph de Sancto Audoeno by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee.
He died on Monday after the feast of St. Michael, 25 Edward III. William his son, aged 16 years, is his heir.
Ralph de Sancto Audoeno seized the said tenements in Nassh by way of wardship and occupied them and received the issues and profits thereof.

298. JOHN TOLMAN of Torkeseye.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said John and who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 8 August, 30 Edward III.
LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Torkesey, Sunday before St. Michael, 30 Edward III.
Torkeseye. Five tofts and 1 1/2a. arable held of John de Arcy of Knayth by fealty and rent of 8d. yearly. The heir of the said John de Arcy is a minor in the king’s wardship. Denise Tolman, daughter and heir of the said John Tolman, entered upon the premises after the said John’s death and remained in possession and received the issues for three whole years. At the end of the three years one Norman de Swynford, knight, removed the said Denise against her will and entered himself and received for three whole years all the issues, claiming the said tenements to be parcel of his manor of Lee. At the end of the said three years, the escheator, Thomas de Fulnetby, seized the said tenements into the king’s hand as parcel of the aforesaid manor, because that manor was in the king’s hand, and occupied the said tenements for the space of half a year to the king’s use, and afterwards, by virtue of the king’s writ, he delivered the said manor with all its appurtenances to John de Cobham, who now holds it. No one occupies the said tenements now and they lie uncultivated.
He died on 26 June, 23 Edward III. The aforesaid Denise, his daughter, aged 16 years on the day of the taking of this inquisition, is his heir.

299. JOHN, SON OF SIMON DE KIRKANDRES.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said John and who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 1 March, 30 Edward III.
CUMBERLAND. Inq. taken at Carlisle, 10 May, 30 Edward III.
Kirkandres. A messuage, 42a. land held of the king in chief by service of 2s. 8d. yearly at the Exchequer of Carlisle and by rendering 26s. 8d. yearly to Gilbert de Sutheyk. The premises are worth 8s. yearly beyond the aforesaid services.
He died on the feast of St. Matthew, 23 Edward III. Thomas, son of William de Partan and Alice his wife, sister of the deceased, of full age, is his heir.
After the death of the said John son of Simon the aforesaid tenements were taken into the king’s hand by Richard de Denton, escheator, and since then the escheator has answered at the Exchequer for the 8s. yearly.

Writ, 5 July, 30 Edward III.
ESSEX. Inq. taken at Maldon, Saturday before All Saints, 30 Edward III.
Wodham Ferrers. A manor called ‘Chaumpaynes’ held jointly with Alice his wife, who survives, by gift of Robert Chaumpayn to them and the heirs of their bodies, by fine levied in the king’s court, of William de Ferrers, as of his manor of Wodham Ferrers, by knight’s service.
He died about Christmas Day, 29 Edward III. Margaret, daughter of the said William and Alice, a minor, is his heir.

301. MAUD PORTERE of Hokenale.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said Maud and who has been in possession of her lands since her death. 13 April, 30 Edward III.
NOTTINGHAM. Inq. taken at Hokenale, Saturday after St. Dunstan, 30 Edward III.
Hokenale. A messuage, 18a. land and 1/2a. meadow held of the king as of the honour of Peverel by service of 17d. and suit at the court of Peverel twice a year.
She had no other lands &c.
She died on Friday after SS. Peter and Paul, 23 Edward III. Roger le Porter, aged 33 years, is her next heir.
No one has received the profits of the said lands since, because they have been lying uncultivated and vacant.

Writ, after the death of the said William, who held of the abbey of Rameseye, lately vacant and in the king’s hand, and died a minor in the king’s wardship. 23 November, 30 Edward III.
HUNTINGDON. Inq. taken at Huntyngdon, Saturday after St. Lucy, 30 Edward III.
Houghton. A messuage and two virgates of land came to the king’s hand by the death of the said John and the minority of the said William, who held of the said abbey by knight’s service and by a rent of 32s. 1d. yearly.
He died on 12 August, 27 Edward III. Margery his sister, aged 16 years and more, is his heir.

303. SIMON DE SIBTHORP.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said Simon and who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 18 February, 30 Edward III.
NOTTINGHAM. Inq. taken at Cybthorp (or Sibthorp), 20 September, 30 Edward III.
Cybthorp. Two messuages and eight bovates of land and 16s. rent held of the king in chief by service of carrying a mace (portacionis maserii) before the king when he came to the house of the said Simon in Cybthorp.
He had no other lands &c. there.
He died at Cybthorp on Thursday before the Assumption, 23 Edward III. Joan, his kinswoman, married to Thomas Bulneys, aged 15 years at eventide on the Invention of the Holy Cross last, is his next heir.
The issues of the premises are in the king’s hand by reason of the minority of the heir.

DEVON. Inq. taken at Uggeburgh, 20 July, 30 Edward III.
Modbury. A messuage and a furlong of land held of the prior there in socage by rendering 10s. yearly.
Aylleston. A croft of land containing seven acres held in socage of William de Bykebury by a rent of 2s. 6 3/4d. and suit at his court at Yeldebury every three weeks.
Tettewill. A furlong of land held of the prior of Plympton in socage by rendering 3s. yearly.
Borescomb. A furlong of land held of the abbot of Bucfast in socage by rendering 1d. yearly.
He died on Thursday after St. Nicholas, 22 Edward III. John Tyrry de Arboribus, his son, aged 12 years and more, is his heir.

BUCKINGHAM. Inq. taken at Litelbrykhull, Tuesday before St. Margaret, 30 Edward III.
Caldecote and Wylien. A messuage, 60a. land, 4a. meadow and 8s. rent held of the king in chief by service of petty serjeanty, rendering 22s. yearly for the serjeanty and 6s. for beaupleader and hidage; 36a. land and 4a. meadow held of John Botetourt, lord of Neuport Paynel, by service of 4s. and suit of court every three weeks and one appearance yearly at the said John’s view of frankpledge.
He died on Friday after the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, 30 Edward III. Nicholas his son, aged 16 years and more, is his heir.

306. ROGER DE MORTUO MARI, EARL OF MARCH.
Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said Roger and who has been in possession of his lands since his death. 24 January, 30 Edward III.
SALOP AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES. Inq. taken at Shrewsbury, Wednesday in Easter week, 31 Edward III.
Shrewsbury. A messuage held of the king in chief by service of rendering yearly a red rose on the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.
He died on the eve of St. Andrew, 4 Edward III. Roger de Mortuo Mari, now earl of March, aged 28 years, is his heir.
Since the death of the late earl the king has occupied the said messuage and received the issues and profits thereof by the forfeiture of the said late earl.

307. JOAN, WIFE OF ROGER DE MORTUO MARI, EARL OF MARCH.

Bremesgrave and Norton. The manor held for her life of the king in chief by fealty only by the demise of Roger de Mortuo Mari, now earl of March, with the king’s licence, with reversion to the said Roger.
Kynton by Flere. A knight’s fee held of the king in chief, to her and her heirs, by service of a tenth part of a knight’s fee.
She died on 19 October, 30 Edward III. Roger de Mortuo Mari, now earl of March, aged 28 years and more, is her heir.

Staunton Lacy by Lodelowe. The manor.
Lodelowe. A moiety of the town of Lodelowe, with the castle and the advowson of a moiety of the church.
All held in fee tail of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee, by gift of Geoffrey de Genevill and Maud his wife by fine levied in the king’s court to Peter de Genevill, father of the said Joan, whose heir she was, and the heirs of his body.
Dolvareyn. The castle and the land of Kedewyng in Wales held for her life by demise of Edmund de Mortuo Mari, father of Roger de Mortuo Mari, now earl of March, whose heir Roger is, with reversion to the said Roger and his heirs.
Kery. The land of Kery held of the inheritance of the said Roger, now earl of March, in dower, by endowment of Roger de Mortuo Mari, late earl of March, sometime her husband, grandfather of the present earl. The said castle and lands are held of the king in chief by service of two knights’ fees and are worth yearly 220l.
Bitterleye, Henleye, Ho[pton] Cangeford, Dounton, Overheyton, Netherheyton, Staunton Lacy, Pole, Wylderhope, Wotton, Avyntre, Eauldon, Wiggele and Crysseth. Ten knights’ fees held of the king in chief, to her and her heirs, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee.
She died on 19 October last. Roger de Mortuo Mari, now earl of March, son and heir of Edmund de Mortuo Mari, son and heir of the said Joan, aged 28 years and more, is her heir.

Malmeshull Lacy and Wolfreslowe. The manors held of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee.
Walterston. The manor, and a moiety of the town and land of Ewyas in the March of Wales, held of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee.
She held the aforesaid manors and moiety in fee tail of the gift of Geoffrey de Genevill and Maud his wife, by fine levied in the king’s court, to Peter de Genevill her father, whose heir she was, and the heirs of his body.
Penbrugg, Kyngeslane and Orleton. The manors held for her life by demise of Roger de Mortuo Mari, now earl of March, with the king’s licence, of the king in chief by service of a knight’s fee, with reversion to the said Roger and his heirs.
Maurdyn and Wynferton. The manors held in dower of the inheritance of the said Roger, now earl, by endowment of Roger, earl of March, sometime her husband, grandfather of the present earl. The manor of Maurdyn is held of the king in chief by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee, and the manor of Wynferton is held of the earl of Warwick by the serjeanty of finding an archer in time of war in the castle of Colwent for forty days.

308. NICHOLAS DE LONGEFORD.

STAFFORD. Inq. taken at Echelaston, 24 April, 30 Edward III.
Echelaston. A part of the town and a part of the towns of Stanton and Charnes held in fee tail jointly with Alice his wife, who survives, of the bishop of Chester, with other lands &c. in the county of Derby, by service of two knights’ fees.
A part of the town held in fee tail as above of the barony of Stafford, of the fee of Morteyn, by service of a knight’s fee.
Quixhull. A part of the town held in fee tail as above, of the honour of Chester, by service of a tenth part of a knight’s fee.
He died on Monday after the Purification last. Nicholas de Longeford his son, aged 23 years and more, is his heir.

DERBY. Inq. taken at Ekynton, 20 April, 30 Edward III.
Kynwaldmersh. A moiety of the town held of the king in chief in pourparty with Thomas de Goushull. The said town is held of the king in chief by service of finding, when there is war in Wales, a horse, price 5s., with a sack and a ‘prik,’ as of the honour of Peverell. He had there 100s. rent from free tenants.
Thurvaston. A moiety of the town held at fee farm by the king’s charter as of the escheat of Hugh le Despenser, the said Nicholas to the day of his death paying nothing, but his heirs shall pay eight marks yearly at the Exchequer.
Hatherseg in the High Peak. A moiety of the manor (extent given) held of Ralph de Frechevill by service of an eighth part of a knight’s fee.
Barleburgh. A moiety of the manor held in fee tail jointly with Alice his wife, who survives. The whole manor is held in chief of the heir of John Darcy, a minor in the king’s wardship, as of the manor of Ekynton, by service of an eighth part of a knight’s fee.
Longeford. The manor, with its members &c., held in fee tail jointly as above, of the bishop of Chester, with other lands &c. in co. Stafford, by service of two knights’ fees.

Writ to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said Denise and who has had possession of her lands since her death. 20 January, 30 Edward III.
ESSEX. Inq. taken at Wytham, 24 January, 30 Edward III.
Wytham. Denise [late wife of Thomas Bacoun] held a messuage, 103a. arable, 6 1/2a. meadow, 6a. wood, 6s. 10d. rent for her life of divers lords, viz. of the heirs of Roger W[arle ?] by service of a pair of gilt spurs, price 8d.; a parcel of John de Boys by service of 14d. yearly; a parcel of the heirs of Thomas Fabel by service of 19d. yearly; a parcel of the heirs of Richard Page by service of 22d.; a parcel of Lucy Powers by service of 7d. and of John Fitz Wauter by service of 3d. and 5 1/2d. for sheriff’s aid. The said lands &c. are of the inheritance of Margery, daughter [and one of the heirs] of Edmund Bacoun [whom William de Molyns married], and of John, son of John de Burgherssh [the other heir of the said Edmund].
She died on 27 April, 23 Edward III. William de Molyns and Margery his wife have been in possession of her lands &c. since her death and have received the issues.

NOTTINGHAM. Kyrkeby. The manor held of the king in chief.
Stretton. The manor held of the heirs of the earl of Pembroke in socage by service of 48s. yearly; and a fifth part of a knight’s fee held of William Prat by service of 5s. 2d. yearly.
He died at Notton on Saturday after St. Cedde last. John his son, aged 5 years at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist last, is his heir.

LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Torkesay, Thursday before Palm Sunday, 30 Edward III.
Knayth. The manor (which cannot be let because it is ruinous and the land sandy) held of the bishop of Lincoln, as of his manor of Stowe, by foreign service.
Suthorp. The manor held of Henry duke of Lancaster by homage and foreign service.
Kesceby. A messuage, four tofts, 20a. arable, 8a. meadow and 20a. pasture held of the prioress of Henynges and Hugh Olivar by foreign service.
Upton. 40s. yearly rent from Custance Kempe, who holds divers lands of him for life; and 13s. 10d. yearly rent from tenants at will. The lands for which these rents are paid are held in service of Edmund de Cornewaill and the prioress of Henynges by knight’s service.
Torkesay. A toft, 2a. 1r. arable held of Mary countess of Pembroke by fealty and service of 4 1/2d. yearly.
Torkesay. The manor, with its members, held to farm until the feast of St. Michael next, by grant of Mary countess of Pembroke, rent not known. The said manor is held of the king in chief, as of his crown, by foreign service.
Gaynesburgh. A toft held of the earl of Athol (Athetel) by service of 6d. yearly.
He held no more lands &c. in the county.

YORK. Inq. taken at Pontefract, Saturday the eve of Palm Sunday, 30 Edward III.
Notton. The manor (extent given, including a small park, a water-mill and a wind-mill) held of Henry duke of Lancaster by homage and fealty and by service of 17s. 3d. yearly for the fines of the wapentake and for blanch farm, and by doing suit at the said duke’s court of the honour of Pontefract every three weeks.
Wollay. … bovates of land held of the same duke of Lancaster by knight’s service and 7s. yearly.
Notton. Agnes de Notton, who survives, holds for her life by grant of John Darcy ‘le piere,’ deceased, a messuage and two bovates of land in Notton, with reversion to the said John and his heirs.
Silkeston. Thomas Chaumberleyn, who survives, holds for his life, by grant of the deceased, the manor of Silkeston, except 20s. rent yearly there. The whole of the manor is held of the aforesaid duke of Lancaster by knight’s service. The reversion, after the death of the said Thomas, belongs to the heirs of the deceased.
Templehirst and Temple Neusom. The reversion of the manors, after the death of Mary de Sancto Paulo, countess of Pembroke, by grant of the king.
Wherleton. The castle and manor held of the archbishop of Canterbury, as of his archbishopric, by knight’s service.
Aldewerk. The manor similarly held.
Yarum. The manor held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
The deceased and Elizabeth his wife, who survives, by fine levied in the king’s court gave the castle of Wherleton and the manors of Wherleton, Aldewerk and Yarum, with the knights’ fees and advowsons thereto belonging, to Thomas de Swynford and John Charteray, who by the same fine gave the said castle and manors to the said John Darcy and Elizabeth and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the king and his heirs.
He held no other lands &c. in the county.
He died on 5 March last. Heir as above, aged 5 years and more.
