LONDON.	Inq. taken before the mayor, Saturday after the Conversion of St. Paul, 47 Edward III.
	He died on 16 January, 46 Edward III, seised of:— Parish of All Hallows Stanyng. A tenement called ‘Blaunchappelton,’ held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London. His daughters Eleanor, aged 7 years, and Mary, aged 4 years and more, are his heirs.

	Parish of All Hallows Stanyng (as above). (The city). 206l. 2s. 5 1/2d. yearly rent receivable by the hands of the sheriffs by grant of the king to William de Bohun, late earl of Norhampton, his father, and his heirs male. Parish of St. Olave by the Tower. 6s. 8d. yearly rent issuing from a tenement of Richard Cotyngham, and 16d. yearly rent from a tenement of John atte Wall, ‘cappere.’ All held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London. SUFFOLK.	Inq. (indented) taken at Offeton, Saturday after the Purification, 47 Edward III.
	Helmesete and Offeton. The manors, held of the castle of Framlyngham and the abbot of St. Edmund, services not known. Long before his death, ……. Easter, 42 Edward III, he enfeoffed Thomas Graunson thereof for life, with reversion to himself and his heirs; and afterwards, about the feast of All Saints; 46 Edward III, he granted the said reversion by charter to Richard earl of Arundel, Simon de Sutbery, bishop of London, Guy Bryan, John de Bapton, and …….. of the said reversion. Hyntlesham. The manor, held of the prior of Canterbery, Warin del Ilde (sic) and Helming Leget, services not known. Long before his death, about the feast of Holy Trinity, 45 Edward III, he enfeoffed by charter the said earl, the said bishop, John Knyvet and another thereof. Date of death and heirs as last above.

A moiety of certain gavelkind tenements, to wit, a capital messuage in ruins, a garden, a dovecote not stocked, 4a. 1r. arable, and a plot of land adjoining the water called ‘Rendesbourne,’ held of the lord de Say by service of rendering 18 1/2d. yearly and doing suit to his court of Grenewych every three weeks. 	Longebynyngton; The manor (extent given), held of the honor of Richmond, service not known. The extent includes 5 carucates of land, whereof 2 have lain unfilled for many years and are in a watery place far from the town, and cannot be let to farm because of their barrenness. The extent includes a view of frankpledge held twice a year at Hokeday and Michaelmas. 	Writ to the escheator to make inquisition touching a petition from Joan late the wife of the said earl praying that, whereas the earl on the day on which he married her and for long afterwards was seised of the manor of Astcote, and afterwards demised the manor for life to Gilbert Giffard, knight, the king will be pleased to order that she be assigned her reasonable dower of the manor, which is now in the king’s hand by the death of Gilbert and by reason of the minority of the earl’s heirs. 18 May, 48 Edward III.

	The earl married Joan in 36 Edward III, and on the day of the marriage was seised in his demesne as of fee of the said manor. He continued his seisin until 45 Edward III, when he demised the manor to Gilbert Giffard for life. Gilbert was seised and continued his seisin until his death. He died in parts beyond seas, day not known. The manor is held of John de Plesseto, as of his manor of Hoggenorton, by knight’s service.
	Writ to the escheator to make inquisition touching a statement that the manor of Little Hallyngbury is not charged with a rent of 20l. yearly for life to Alesia de Nevyll, as alleged in the above Essex inquisition, but that it is charged to Alesia with 10 marks only, and to John Nevyll, confrere of the prior of the hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England, with 20l. yearly for life, and that after John’s death the said Alesia, if she survives him, will receive 40 marks yearly for life. 12 January, 50 Edward III.
