SOUTHAMPTON. Inq. taken at Stokbrygge, 29 October, 48 Edward III.
The following are all in the king’s hand by reason of the minority of the said heir:—
Wolveston by Suthampton. A messuage with a garden adjoining, and a carucate of land, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Fremantell. A messuage and 70a. land, held of the bishop of Winchester by knight’s service.
Galrogg. A messuage and a carucate of land, held of the prioress of Ambresbury by homage and service of 37s. yearly. Broghton. A messuage and a carucate of land, held of the warden of God’s House, Portesmuth, by service of 5s. yearly.
Chiryton. 9 virgates of land, held of the bishop of Winchester by service of 4l. 10s. yearly.
Candevere. A messuage and a carucate of untilled (frisce) land, held of the bishop of Winchester by service of 32s. yearly; and 4 virgates of land, held of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England by service of 9s. yearly.
Kylmeston. A messuage with a garden adjoining and 60a. land, held of the same bishop, service not known.
He died on 14 July last. Robert Inkepenne, his brother, aged 16 years and more, is his heir.

38. LAPINUS DE KYNGHAM, carpenter.
Writ of precipimus, 24 March, 48 Edward III.
LONDON. Inq. (indented) taken before the mayor, 12 April, 48 Edward III.
He died about St. Peter’s Chains, 34 Edward III, day not known, seised of:—
Parish of St. Margaret Patyns. A tenement containing two dwellings (mansiones), which by his testament proved, proclaimed and enrolled in the husting of London of pleas of land held on Monday after St. Edmund the King, 35 Edward III, he bequeathed, by the name of all his tenements in the said parish, to Emma his wife for life, on condition that she should not marry or be of ill fame. If she failed to keep the said conditions, then the premises, into whosever hands they might come, were to be charged with 13s. 4d. yearly in aid of the ornaments of the said (sic) church, to be levied by the hands of his executors, or of their executors if they should be living, and the rector of the church was to have the balance of the issues to celebrate for the souls of [the testator], his father and mother, and all the faithful departed. If such celebration should be neglected or withdrawn by the rector or his deputy (procuratorem), then six of the better men of the parish were to have the premises for the maintenance of the said chantry for ever. After his death the said Emma had possession of the premises, fulfilling the above conditions, and died, day not known. Immediately after her death Edmund de Caldecote, then rector of the church, entered and had possession for three years; and after him successively Thomas de Goldyngton for half a year and Nicholas de Wavenden for four years, both rectors, and other rectors unknown. The said Edmund de Caldecote is now rector of the church (sic), and has possession of the premises, which are held [of the king] in free burgage, as is the whole city of London. Lapinus has no heirs so far as the jurors can ascertain.

39. JOHN DE LOUDHAM.
Writ, 8 April, 48 Edward III.
SUFFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Wycham Markat, Saturday after the Ascension, 48 Edward III.
He held no lands &c. in the county.
He died on Thursday after St. Gregory last. Thomas his brother, aged 19 years at the feast of St. Luke last, is his next heir in blood.
NORFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Disse, Friday the morrow of the Ascension, 48 Edward III.
Osmundeston and Stuston. 1a. land and 7l. rent, held of the king in chief by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee.
Frense. The manor. On Sunday the feast of the Assumption, 46 Edward III, he gave it by his charter to John de Pyshale, clerk, John Gernegan, Roger de Wolferton, and others; and afterwards, on Monday after the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 47 Edward III, he released to them all his right therein.

40. JOHN SON OF JOHN LONGEVILERS, knight.
Writ of precipimus, 23 November, 48 Edward III.
NOTTINGHAM. Inq. taken at Hoghton, Tuesday before St. Nicholas the Bishop, 48 Edward III.
Southleverton. A messuage.
Southleverton and Northcotum. A carucate of land, 20a. meadow in Trentmersh, worth nothing because they are flooded yearly by the Trent, 12a. meadow in Humburmedewe, 6s. 4d. yearly rent of assise, and 6 cottages.
All held of the earl of Pembroke in socage by service of 45s. 4d. yearly, suit to the court of Oswardbek every three weeks, and fealty. He held them to him and the heirs of his body by gift and feoffment of John de Lungvylers, his father, with remainder to his said father and his heir (sic).
He died on Wednesday after Holy Trinity, 43 Edward III, without heir of his body. Agnes his sister, aged 14 years and more, is his heir. She is in the king’s wardship on account of her minority.
Roger Belers and Ralph de Cromwell, knights, have had possession of the premises ever since his death, because during the minority of the said Agnes they have by demise of the king under his letters patent the custody of all the lands &c. to which she is heir.

41. THOMAS SON AND HEIR OF JOHN LONGVILLERS.

NOTTINGHAM. Inq. taken at Notyngham, Tuesday after St. Martin, 48 Edward III.
The following came to the king’s hands and are still in the king’s hand by the death of John Longvillers and by reason of the minority of Thomas his son and heir:—
Tuxford. A third part of the manor, held of the king in chief by service of a third part of half a knight’s fee.
Laxton. A messuage, held of Adam de Everyngham, knight, by service of 1/2d. yearly; a plot of meadow, held of the master of Ussyngton by service of 18d. yearly; a plot of land, held of the heirs of William de Everyngham, knight, by service of . . of cummin yearly; and a plot of land, held of the earl of Northampton by service of 12d. yearly.
Laxton Morehouse. 25s. 1d. rent of assise, a rent of 1lb. pepper, 2 messuages and 2 tofts, held of Adam de Everyngham, knight, by homage and fealty and service of an eighth part of a knight’s fee.
Skegby. A garden with a croft adjoining, held of John Fitz William, knight, by homage and fealty and service called ‘wardefee.’
Houghton. A messuage, held of Nicholas Monbocher, knight, by service of rose yearly.
Allerton. 28s. 10d. rents of free tenants, held in chief of John Fitz William, knight, by homage and fealty.
Little Drayton. 1 1/3r. meadow, held of the same John, services not known.
Eton. 6a. meadow, held in chief of Robert de Wolerygton, services not known.
Carleton. 2 1/2a. meadow, held in chief of John de Sutton by fealty only.
Elkesley. 3 tenements, 2 bovates of land and 2 cottages, held of the abbot of Rufford, services not known.
Grymston. 44s. 3 1/2d. rent of assise, held in chief of Hugh Hastynges by service of a rose yearly.
Wellehawe. 7 3/4 cottages, held in chief of Hugh Hastynges by service of 3s. 3d. yearly and suit of court every three weeks.
Kirketon and Walesby. 13d. rent of assise, held in chief of the abbot of Rufford, services not known.
Retford. 24s. 4d. rent of assise, held of the king by fee-farm as the other burgesses of the town hold.
Wellum Morhouse. 4 cottages, held of the earl of Pembroke by fealty only, as of the soke of Oswardebek.
Stretton. 2 1/2a. meadow, held of the same earl, as of the same soke, by service of 2 1/2 yearly.
Fenton. A cottage, held of the same earl, as of the same soke, by fealty and service of 4d. yearly.
Lytilburgh. 3 cottages, held of the same earl, as of the same soke, by fealty.
Thomas died on Monday after the octave of Trinity, 43 Edward III. Agnes his sister, aged 14 years and more, is his heir.

42. ELIZABETH LUCY.
Writ to the escheator,—on a petition from William Lucy, (who asserts that he is brother and heir of Thomas son and heir of William Lucy, who held by knight’s service of the heir of Roger de Mortuo Mari, late earl of March, a minor in the king’s wardship), that the lands of his inheritance by the death of the said Thomas and of Elizabeth Lucy may be restored to him,—to make enquiry in the presence of Walter Deveroys, knight, who has the custody of the said lands by the king’s commitment, touching the lands which came to the king’s hands by the death of Elizabeth and by reason of the minority of Thomas, (who has died while a minor in the king’s wardship), the date of death and heir of the said Thomas, and the persons who have had possession of the lands since the death of Elizabeth. 5 November, 48 Edward III.
HEREFORD. Inq. taken at Hereford, 20 November, 48 Edward III, in the presence of the said Walter Deveroys.
Elizabeth Lucy, late the wife of William Lucy, held the following in dower of the inheritance of Thomas son and heir of the said William and Elizabeth by service of a tenth part of a knight’s fee:—
Bodenham Fourches. A messuage, 2 carucates of land, 10a. meadow, a plot of pasture called ‘Whistonesmerssh ’ and ‘Haye,’ a small wood called ‘Ricardeswode,’ and 4l. rent of assise of free tenants. Thomas held them of the heir of Roger de Mortuo Mary, late earl of March, a minor in the king’s wardship, by the same service.
Thomas died while a minor in the king’s wardship on Monday after St. Katharine, 43 Edward III, and the premises were taken into the king’s hand by his death and the death of the said Elizabeth. William Lucy, his brother, aged 21 years at the feast of St. Barnabas last, is his heir. The said William was married by John Burleye, knight, who had his marriage by gift of Humphrey de Boun, late earl of Hereford, of whom Thomas held some other lands by knight’s service. John Burleye afterwards answered to the king in the Exchequer, and satisfied him of the value of the marriage, because the king had been defrauded thereof. Walter Deveroys has had possession of the premises since Elizabeth’s death by the king’s letters patent.
Writ to the treasurer, barons, and chamberlains of the Exchequer to certify whether the king has been so satisfied by the said John Burleye. 28 November, 43 Edward III.
Endorsed: He paid 100 marks therefor at the receipt of the Exchequer on 9 August in Easter term, 46 Edward III.

43. MARGARET LATE THE WIFE OF HUGH DE MORICEBY.
Writ, 22 May, 48 Edward III.
CUMBERLAND. Inq. (indented) taken at Wyggeton, Friday before St. Barnabas, 48 Edward III.
Cullegayt. A fourth part of the town, containing 8 husband-lands, of which 5 are waste, a curtilage, and 2 waste cottages, held of the king in chief by service of rendering 4s. 1d. for cornage at the Exchequer of Carlisle, as of the inheritance of Robert de Askeby; and a third part of the site of the manor, and a third part of three-fourths of the manor, containing 8 husband-lands, of which 5 are waste, and 2 waste cottages, held for life in dower of the king in chief by the same service, of the inheritance of Christopher son of Christopher de Moriceby. The whole manor is held of the king by service of half a knight’s fee.
Moriceby. The manor, with the advowson of its church, held for life of the prior of Huntyngton by service of rendering 16s. for blanch farm. The manor is charged with 53s. 4d. yearly to the earl of Angus (Dangows) and his heirs.
Aykcrist. The fort (forcellettum) and 2 tenements, held for life of the manor of Dystington. The tenements are held by service of rendering 16d. yearly for cornage.
She died on Saturday after the Ascension last. Christopher, aged 16 years and more, son of Christopher de Moriceby her son, is her heir.
WESTMORELAND. Inq. (indented) taken at Kirkeby in Kendale, Tuesday after St. Barnabas, 48 Edward III.
Wynanderwath. The manor (extent given), held for life of the inheritance of Christopher son of Christopher de Moriceby.
Askeby Wynanderwath. 4l. rent issuing from the manor, with the advowson of the church, held for life. The manor is held of Roger de Clifforth, lord of Westmoreland, by service of rendering 6s. 10d. for cornage, 6 skips of oats for puture of Roger’s foresters in Wynffell, 13s. 4d. to the same foresters, and 3s. yearly to the king’s bailiffs of Westmoreland.

44. ROBERT DE NOTYNGHAM.
Writ, 14 October, 48 Edward III.
KENT. Inq. taken at Newenham, 23 October, 48 Edward III.
Sharstede. A messuage with a garden of 2a. adjoining, wherein he dwelt, 58a. land under the garden, and 45a. wood in Peddyngge pertaining to the said messuage, held of the archbishopric of Canterbury, the see being void and in the king’s hand, by service of a fortieth part of a knight’s fee, and by payment of 10s. 1d. yearly to the manor of Tenham which belongs to the archbishopric, and by suit to the archbishop’s court at the palace of Canterbury every three weeks; 28a. land, held of the archbishopric by knight’s service, as above, and by payment of 7s. yearly; 52a. land called ‘le Hurst,’ held of Richard Hikelot by service of 10 quarters of barley yearly, with 9s. and 2 hens rent of assise of divers tenants at Bixle in Tonge; and a toft with a dovecote standing thereon, a grange, and 286 1/2a. arable and 1a. wood, held of the archbishopric of Canterbury in gavelkind by divers services.
Newelond in Tenham. A messuage, a croft of 4a. adjoining, and 179a. arable, held of the archbishopric in gavelkind, partible among the heirs male, services not known; pasture for 100 sheep, of no value beyond the keeping of the sea-wall.
Babford in the hundred of Middelton. The manor, held of the manor of Middelton by tenure of gavelkind. He held it to him and his heirs for the life of Eleanor wife of James de Bourne by demise of the said James and Eleanor, rendering 20 marks yearly to the lessors during the life of Eleanor, 18 marks yearly for 14 years from Michaelmas, 48 Edward III, to two chaplains celebrating for the soul of Roger de Rokesle, and after the 14 years the said 18 marks, as well as the said 20 marks, to the lessors for the life of Eleanor.
He died on 13 October last. Robert son of James his son, aged 4 years and more, is his kinsman and next heir to the lands &c. held by knight’s service, and to a fourth part of the lands &c. held in gavelkind; and John, aged 8 years and more, Robert, aged 7 years and more, and Thomas, aged 5 years and more, sons of the deceased, are coheirs with the said Robert son of James of the tenements held in gavelkind.

Tregony. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief, with the manors of Bury, Stokkeley Pomereye and Bruggeton Pomereye, co. Devon, by service of one knight’s fee.
He died on Wednesday before Christmas last. John de la Pomereye, knight, his son, aged 27 years and more, is his heir.
DEVON. Inq. taken at Bury Pomeray, 10 February, 48 Edward III.
Bury. The manor (extent given), with 11s. rent in Bryggeton Pomeray, parcel thereof.

46. JOHN DE NORWICO, knight.
Writ, 24 February, 48 Edward III.
SUFFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Beccles, Saturday in the third week of Lent, 48 Edward III.
He died about Christmas last.
Metyngham. The castle.
Ilketlishale, Schipmedwe, Redesham, Mellis, Wanhaston and Bromfeld. The manors.
Metyngham, Schepmedwe, Becclis, Barsham, Ilketleshale and Wanhaston. 4 carucates of land and 6a. meadow.
On 6 June, 47 Edward III, before he crossed the sea to France with William earl of Salisbury on the king’s service, and long before his death, he granted the premises, and all other his lands &c. in the county of Suffolk, to John Playce, Robert Howard and Roger Boys, knights, Adam de Cokefeld, parson of the church of Salle, Ellis de Byntre, parson of the church of Dalham, Hervey de Welham, parson of the church of Stokton, John Boys, Reynold de Eccles, and John de Wolterton, parson of the church of Harpelee, their heirs and assigns; and on 12, 13, and 14 June he put them in full seisin thereof by his own hands and by Simon Coupere of Weybrede, his attorney by his letters patent, and all the tenants attorned to them.
He also granted the following reversions and advowsons to the said feoffees, to whom the tenants for life attorned:—
Dalynghoo. The reversion of the manor, held for life of his inheritance by Margaret his mother, late the wife of Walter de Norwyco, knight.
Dalynghoo. The advowson of the church.
Alderton. A fifth part of the advowson of the church.
Ilketlyshale. The reversions of the manor there called ‘Welyngtones,’ the manor of Thoryngton, the lands in Ilketlyshale formerly belonging to Oliver de Stratton, and the lands in Ilketlyshale called ‘Fyttons,’ held for life of his inheritance by the aforesaid Hervey de Welham.
Wenhaston and Thoryngton. The reversion of all the lands held for life of his inheritance by John Dounemogh.
None of the premises are held of the king.
Endorsement: The parties came into the Chancery on 18 March, 48 Edward III, and craved livery of the premises; and as the heir of John de Norwico was not present in court, a day was given to him and them in a month from Easter next.
NORFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Lodene, Friday before St. Gregory the Pope, 48 Edward III.
Sculthorp. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of its church, held of the king in chief by service of one knight’s fee. The extent includes a leet.
Great Massyngham. 8 marks rent, held of the king in chief, services not known.
He held no other lands &c. in the county when he died, because on 6 June last he enfeoffed John Plays, Robert Howard and Roger Boys, knights, John Boys, John de Wolterton and others of all the rest of his lands &c. in the county.
He died about the feast of the Circumcision last. Katharine de Brews, his kinswoman, aged 32 years and more, is his heir.
Writ to the escheator to certify the king in the Chancery as to the relationship of the said Katharine to the deceased. 24 March, 48 Edward III.
NORFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Norwich, Monday the morrow of Easter, 48 Edward III.
The said Katharine was daughter of Thomas de Norwich, who was son of Walter de Norwich, knight, and brother of John de Norwich, knight, the deceased’s grandfather.
Writ of plura, 10 October, 48 Edward III.
SUFFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Becles, Saturday after St. Luke, 48 Edward III.
Bredefeld and Dalham. Margaret de Norwico, his mother, holds the manors, with the advowson of the church of Dalham, for life, of his inheritance, of the king in chief by knight’s service. After her death the premises would have reverted to him if he had lived; but as things are they ought to revert to Katharine Brews, his heir as above.
NORFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Walsyngham, Tuesday after St. Luke, 48 Edward III.
Skulthorp. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee. The extent includes a leet.
Great Massyngham. Edward II by his charter gave to Walter de Norwico, the deceased’s great-grandfather, and his heirs, all the lands &c. in Great Massyngham late of Thomas de Weylond, with the views of frankpledge, services of free tenants, and all other appurtenances thereof, to hold at a fee-farm of 8 marks yearly at the Exchequer, which fee-farm the present king afterwards gave by charter to the prioress and nuns of Brodholm. After the death of the said Walter the lands &c. descended to John his son and heir, the deceased’s grandfather, and from him to the deceased, who was seised of them in his demesne as of fee.
He died about the feast of the Circumcision last. Katharine Brews, aged 30 years and more, is his kinswoman and heir, to wit, daughter of Thomas de Norwico the brother of the aforesaid John the deceased’s grandfather.

47. ISABEL LATE THE WIFE OF JOHN PYGOT, knight.

BEDFORD. Inq. taken at Bedford, 28 January, 48 Edward III.
Kerdyngton. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of two-thirds of a mediety of the church of Houghton Conquest, held in fee tail jointly with the said John her husband, to them and the heirs of their bodies, by feoffment of William de Ounesby, parson of the church of Dodyngton, of the king in chief by knight’s service as parcel of the barony of Bedford, and by service of 2s. yearly for hidage and ‘beuple.’ The extent includes two watermills under one roof, a several fishery, and a leet.
She died on Friday after Christmas in the year aforesaid (sic). Baldwin Pygot, her son, aged 21 years on the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist last, is next heir of her and the said John in the aforesaid entail.

Raghton. 3a. land, held of the king in chief by service of grand serjeanty and of keeping the king’s hawks in the forest of Ingelwod.
Gaytscals and Raghton. 2 messuages and 30a. land, held of the king in chief in purpresture by service of rendering 18d. yearly by the hands of the sheriff.
Gaytscals. 9a. land, late of John Nicholson, held of the king in chief as of the king’s purpresture.
Hubardby and Bochergate in Carlisle. 2 messuages and 20a. land, held of the king in chief in socage.
He died on 23 September, 42 Edward III. Oliver his son, aged 8 years, is his heir. William de Stapelton has been in possession of the premises ever since John’s death by virtue of an estate which he alleges to have been made by John de Lowdon, chaplain, to the deceased and Margaret his wife, and their heirs, and has received the profits thereof, except the profits of the land in Hubardby, which John Heron has received, and those of the land late of John Nicolson, which the escheator has received. John de Raghton survived the said Margaret.
Dedimus potestatem to Roger de Fulthorp to receive the attorneys of Roger de Clyfford and Ralph baron of Greystok for suing out of the king’s hands 2 messuages and 30a. land in Raghton and Gaytscales late of the said Roger and Ralph, which formerly belonged to John de Raghton and are in the king’s hand for certain causes. 3 April, 48 Edward III.
Endorsed: The said Roger de Fulthorp has received as attorneys William de Stapelton, Richard de Irton and Thomas de Skelton.

50. ELIZABETH DAUGHTER OF JOHN RABAS.
Writ, 8 May, 47 Edward III.
NORTHAMPTON. Inq. (indented) taken at Roth[well], Monday after Ascension day, 47 Edward III.
Maydewell. A manor called ‘Rabasfee,’ held of the king in chief by knight’s service, as of the fee of Chokes.
Draughton. A messuage and a virgate of land, held of the earl of Stafford by knight’s service.
Little Oxendon. 5s. rent, held of the prince, as of the honor of Berk[hamstead], by knight’s service.
She died on Thursday after St. Andrew, 46 Edward III. Roger de Seyton gave the premises to Stephen Rabas of Maydewell and Alice his wife and the heirs of their bodies. They had as heirs between them Robert, William, Hugh, John and Richard. Robert died without heir of his body. William entered on the premises as his brother and heir, and gave them to the said Richard and his heirs. Richard enfeoffed thereof the said William and Margery his wife for their lives, with remainder to John Rabas, William’s brother, and John son of the said John, and the heirs of the body of the latter, and with reversion to the right heirs of William. John brother of William and John his son were both seised by virtue of the said feoffment, and on the death of the latter (who was the survivor) Elizabeth his daughter entered as his heir and died without heir of her body. By virtue of the above two gifts Robert son of the aforesaid Hugh Rabas is her next heir; for the aforesaid Robert and William died without heirs of their bodies, and Hugh had issue Robert Rabas of Arthyngworth, now living and aged 30 years and more, who is her kinsman and heir.
Dedimus potestatem to Simon Pakeman to receive the attorneys of Simon, parson of the church of St. Peter, Maydewell, to sue the premises out of the king’s hand. 8 June, 48 Edward III.

LONDON. Inq. (indented) taken before the mayor, 3 June, 48 Edward III.
He died on Saturday after the Epiphany, 37 Edward III, seised of:—
Parish of St. Peter, Bradstrete. A tenement with a garden adjoining, containing 2 dwellings.
Parish of All Hallows by the Wall. A tenement with a garden and 5 shops adjoining; another tenement with a garden …… adjoining; and another tenement with . . shops adjoining.
By his testament proved, proclaimed and enrolled in the husting of London of common pleas held on Monday after St. Valentine, 38 Edward III, he bequeathed the premises, by the name of all his lands and rents in the said parishes, to Agatha his wife for life, on condition that she should provide a fit chaplain to celebrate in the said church of All Hallows for his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, with remainder after her death to [two] of the better men of the fraternity of ‘whitagheres’ of London, who should provide a chaplain to celebrate in the said church for ever for his soul and the souls of Agatha and all the faithful departed. Immediately after his death Agatha had possession of the premises and took the profits according to his bequest until her death on Wednesday before Whitsun last, since when William Dawe and Roger Rudde, good men of the said fraternity, together with William Croft, John Beltyng, …. . Herlowe, Adam Rudde, John Plemyng, and Henry Neel, ‘whitagheres’ of the same fraternity, have had possession of them and provided a chaplain as ordained. The premises are held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London. Nicholas has no heirs, so far as the jurors can ascertain among themselves.

Avenebury. The manor (extent given), held of the earl of Hereford by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.
He died on Saturday after St. Stephen, 32 Edward III. Juliana his daughter, aged 20 years and more, whom Andrew Herle has taken to wife, is his heir. Robert de Kendale, knight, and Maud his wife have had possession of the premises ever since his death, by what title the jurors know not.

Writ of devenerunt, 22 March, 48 Edward III.
SOMERSET. Inq. taken at Keynesham, 18 May, 48 Edward III.
Seuerys Wyke by Compton Daundo. The hamlet, held of Thomas son of Edmund de Lyonys by service of rendering 1d. at Michaelmas for all service. It came to the king’s hands by the death of Richard and by reason of the minority of Thomas his heir, and at the time of the latter’s death was in the custody of John de Merschton by the king’s letters patent.
The following were held for life by Emma the late wife of the said Richard, and after her death descended to Thomas as Richard’s son and heir. Emma died on 20 April, 42 Edward III. After her death John de Mershton had possession of them for 4 years, and Thomas had possession of them thereafter until his death by demise of the said John.
Compton Daundo. A messuage and a virgate of land called ‘Grubbeswyk,’ held of the aforesaid Thomas by service of a rose yearly.
Sampforde by Banewelle. A messuage and a virgate of land, held of John Button by service of rendering 13s. 4d. yearly.
Thomas died on 14 March last. Joan wife of Richard Pryour of Wydecomb, aged 24 years and more, is his kinswoman and heir, to wit, daughter of Thomasia sister of Richard his father.

Westhorp. Two-thirds of the manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. On the death of Richard they were seized into the king’s hand by John de Isbury, late escheator, and so remain.

No lands so came to the king’s hand by the death of Richard and by reason of the minority of Thomas.
Agnes the sister of Thomas, now 17 years of age and more, long ago entered the abbey of Shaftesbury and has been a nun there for years and days. Whether she is professed or not the jurors do not know. If she is not professed, she is the next heir of Thomas; if she is professed, Joan wife of Richard Priour is next heir (as above).
Writ to R. bishop of Salisbury, sicut alias, to certify the king in the Chancery whether the said Agnes is professed or not. 18 June, 48 Edward III.
Return: She has for years and days been a nun professed in the abbey of Shaftesbury. Remmesbury, 11 January, 1374.

A messuage, a carucate of untilled land, 6a. meadow, a watermill adjoining the said messuage called ‘Glaspullemull’ within the king’s Barton by Bristol, 42s. rent of free tenants, and pleas and perquisites of court, held of the king in chief by service of paying 15s. yearly at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff.
He died on 16 March last. Heir not known.
