NORTHAMPTON.	Inq. taken at Norhampton, 2 May, 3 Richard II.
	Long before his death he held the under-mentioned manor in fee simple, and enfeoffed William de Clynton, knight, thereof for life, with reversion to Thomas, bishop of Ely, and others. Aynho. The manor, held of the heirs of Humphrey de Boun, late earl of Essex, by knight’s service. He died on 15 December last. John de Arundell, knight, aged 15 years and more, is his son and heir.

	He held the under-mentioned manor jointly with Eleanor, his wife, to them and the heirs male of his body, by grant of Roger le Strange, Guy de Bryan, Roger de Beauchamp and Hugh de Segrave, knights, and John Kyngesfolde. Poslynge. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief, as of the castle of Dover, by homage and fealty and payment of 20s. yearly for ward of the said castle and 18d. yearly at sheriffs’ tourns. He died on 16 December last. John, his son, aged 15 years on the feast of St. Andrew last, is his heir.

	He held nothing in the county on the day of his death, because two years and more before his death he enfeoffed Thomas, bishop of Ely, his brother, Richard de Scrope, William Beauchaumpe, Lewis de Clifford, Nicholas Sharnesfeld, knights, John Philipot, John de Kyngesfold, John de Chelreye, clerk, William Boull, clerk, and William Ryvere of the under-mentioned manors and moiety of a manor. Biker. The manor, held of the king in chief by grand serjeanty and the service of rendering 40s. yearly by the hands of the sheriff. Ellingham, Newsted and Osberwyk. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service, and by service of 10s. for ward of the castle of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and 3s. yearly for cornage. Wollore. A moiety of the manor, with Trollope, its member, and the free services of Ford, Crokom, Kynmerston, Bairmour, Dichant, Ulcestir, Warnford and Unthank, held of the king in chief by knight’s service and suit to the county court every six weeks. Newham. The manor, held of the lord de Percy, earl of Northumberland, by knight’s service and other services. Akild, Coupland and Yevirn. The manor, held of Sir Philip de Darcy by knight’s service and other services. Killom. The manor, with Antischester and Palkeston, its members, held of Sir John de Monte Acuto by knight’s service and other services. These are now utterly destroyed and laid waste by the Scots. Mindrom and Presson. The manors, held of the same Sir John by knight’s service and other services. They are utterly destroyed and laid waste by the Scots and nobody dares live there. 	He held the under-mentioned manor of Hyneford and rent in Yevele jointly with Eleanor, his wife, who is still living, to them and the heirs of their bodies. He held the remaining under-mentioned manors etc. jointly with the same Eleanor, to them and his heirs. Coklyngton. The manor and the advowson of the church. Stoke Trystre. The manor and the advowson of the church. Boysford. The manor. Selewode. The office of forester of the king’s forest. All held of the king in chief by knight’s service. Hyneford. The manor. Yevele. 57s. yearly rent. Both held of Edmund, earl of March, as of the honor of Gloucester, by knight’s service. He died on 15 December last. John Darundell, knight, his son by the said Eleanor, aged 15 years on the feast of St. Andrew last, is his heir.

	Writ of Mandamus, 1 August, 3 Richard II
LONDON.	Inq. (indented) taken before the mayor, 20 August, 3 Richard II.
	She died on Friday after St. Gregory, 23 Edward III, seised of:— Parish of St. Mary Wolnoth. A brewhouse in Lumbardstret, with 3 shops annexed thereto, lying between a tenement formerly belonging to Nicholas Godewyne, skinner, on the west, and a tenement of Thomas Bonde on the east. Parish of St. Michael on Cornhull. 2 shops annexed to the aforesaid brewhouse, situated between a tenement formerly belonging to Thomas Leggy on the west and a tenement of James le Sherman on the east. The said brewhouse and 5 shops were bequeathed by her in her testament proved, proclaimed and enrolled in the husting of common pleas held on Monday the feast of St. Margaret, 23 Edward III, to Simon de Bosenham, her son, and his heirs. Simon held them by virtue of the said legacy for a quarter of a year, and then died. By his testament proved and proclaimed in the husting aforesaid he bequeathed the brewhouse and 3 shops in the parish of St. Mary to Cecily, his sister, and the heirs of her body, and the other 2 shops to Thomas Bosenham, his nephew, and his heirs. Thomas had possession of those 2 shops and gave them by charter to Walter Forster, sometime citizen and skinner of London. The prior of the Charterhouse by Westsmythefeld is now in possession of them and receives the issues, title not known. Cecily was in possession of the brewhouse and 3 shops until her death on Friday before Palm Sunday, 48 Edward III, and sold the reversion to Thomas Noket, citizen and draper of London, who immediately after her death enfeoffed thereof Sir John Houghton and Sir William Wollaston, chaplains, who have received and still receive the issues for his use. Parish of St. Mary Wolnoth. A tenement in Lumbardstrete. By her testament aforesaid she bequeathed this tenement (by the name of her house situated between a tenement formerly belonging to Isabel de Rokesle on the west and a tenement of her own on the east), to Cecily, her daughter, and the heirs of the body of the said Cecily. Cecily was in possession thereof until 6 December, 42 Edward III, on which day by charter (under the name of Cecily de Bosenham, relict of Michael Gerard, sometime citizen of London), she granted it to queen Philippa, foundress of the hospital of St. Katharine by the Tower of London, who (by a charter confirmed by the king’s charter dated 9 December, 43 Edward III) gave it to Sir John de Hermerthorp, warden of the said hospital, and the brethren and sisters serving God there, who are now seised thereof by virtue of the said gift and confirmation. Parish of St. Mary Wolnoth. Another tenement in Lumbardstret situated next to the above tenement. By her testament aforesaid she bequeathed this tenement to be sold, and another shop, now part of the said tenement, she bequeathed to Thomas de Bosenham, her nephew. After her death the said Simon de Bosenham and John Danyel, her executors, and the said Thomas sold the said tenement to John Burstalle and Cecily his wife. Cecily survived her husband and died seised of the said tenement. Joan, daughter of the said John and Cecily, then possessed it and by her charter gave it to William Walworth, who now holds it. All the above are held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London. Eleanor daughter of Cecily, daughter of the said Agnes, aged 30 years and more is her heir.

	He held the under-mentioned manor on the day of his death. Suthlydyerd. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. He died on 3 January, 3 Richard II. Roger Beauchamp, aged 18 years and more, is his kinsman and heir, to wit, son of Roger, his son.

	She held the under-mentioned land for life by way of dower after the death of the said Ralph, her husband. Harleston, Heyford, Bryngton and Colyntrou. A carucate of land with 13s. 4d. rent in the hands of free tenants, held of William Brantyngham, as of the manor of Dodforde, by knight’s service. She died on Monday after the Decollation of St. John the Baptist last. Ralph, son and heir of her and the said Ralph, aged 13 years and more, is her next heir.

	She held the under-mentioned messuages etc. and manor for life jointly with the said William, her husband, deceased, and his heirs. Farndissh. 2 messuages, a cottage and 2 virgates of land, held of the king in socage by service of 5s. 10d. yearly as sheriff’s aid. Henewyk. A manor called ‘Botevyleyns,’ held of Reynold Grey of Ruffyn, knight, by knight’s service, service of 3s. yearly, suit of court every three weeks, and service of 13s. 4d. yearly as sheriff’s hidage. She died on the eve of the Epiphany last. Robert Botevyleyn, aged 30 years and more, is son and heir of the said William and Juliana.

LINCOLN.	Inq. taken at Lincoln, Friday the feast of St. Margaret, 4 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned third part of a manor in dower by endowment of the said Peter, formerly her husband, by assignment of Walter de Kelby, late escheator, of the inheritance of Eleanor, wife of Marmaduke de Lumlee, and Cecily, wife of William Chaumberleyn of Edlyngton, daughters and heirs of the said Peter. Bilsby. A third part of the manor, which whole manor is held of the king in chief by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee. She died at Bilsby on 19 September last. Heir not known. The aforesaid Eleanor and Cecily are 30 years and 27 years of age respectively, and more. Marmaduke and Eleanor have issue, namely, John and Margaret; and William and Cecily have issue, namely, Robert, Katharine and Elizabeth.

	He died seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned reversion. Wetheresfeld. The reversion of the manor, with the advowson of the church, expectant on the demise of Alesia late the wife of John de Nevyll, knight, who is still living. The manor is held of the king in chief, service not known. He held no other lands etc. in the county, other than those specified in the inquisition taken after his death. He died on 16 January, 46 Edward III. Eleanor, his daughter, aged 14 years on the feast of St. Barnabas last, married to Thomas earl of Buckingham, the king’s uncle, and Mary, his other daughter, aged 9 years and more, are his heirs. Since his death the said Alesia has been in possession of the premises, which she holds as her right for life, and has received the issues thereof.

HERTFORD.	Inq. taken at Ware, 26 April, 3 Richard II.
	He died seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned reversion. Nothamstede. The reversion of the manor expectant on the demise of John de Gyldesburgh, knight, still living, who holds it for life by his gift and feoffment. The manor is held of the earl of Oxford by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee. He held no other lands etc. in the county, other than those specified in the inquisition taken after his death. Date of death and heirs as above. Since his death the said John Gildesburgh has been in possession of the manor and received the issues thereof by the above title.

	Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the yearly value of the manor of Farnham and of the church thereof, which were found by the inquisition taken after the earl’s death to be jointly worth 27l. 6s. 8d. yearly. 10 May, 3 Richard II.
HERTFORD.	Inq. taken at Storteford, 28 May, 3 Richard II.
	The manor of Farnham is worth 19l. yearly in all issues. The advowson of the church is not parcel of the manor and does not pertain thereto, but to the manor of Herteshoo in the same town, which is in the hands of Walter de la Lee, knight. Aubrey de Ver, knight, is patron of the church by gift and grant of the said Walter.

HERTFORD.	Inq. taken at Farnham by Storteford, 5 May (sic), 3 Richard II.
	The church of Farnham is worth 12l. yearly.

	Writ of plura, 20 February, 3 Richard II
BUCKINGHAM.	Inq. taken at Aillesbury, 18 April, 3 Richard II.
	He held no lands etc. in the county, in demesne or in service, other than those specified in the inquisition taken after his death. But he held the under-mentioned toft etc. in reversion after the death of Robert Lardener and Joan, his wife, who hold the same for the life of the said John by gift and feoffment of Simon Sudbury, late bishop of London, John Knyvet, knight, and others. The said Robert and Joan received the issues of the premises for half a year after the earl’s death; and on their death Edward, late prince of Wales, took the premises into his hand by reason of the minority of Eleanor and Mary, the earl’s daughters and heirs, and received the issues for a whole year. Since then Thomas, earl of Buckingham, has occupied the premises and received the issues and profits thereof in right of the said Eleanor, his wife. Westcote. A toft, 87 a. arable and 2 a. meadow, held of the king, as of the honor of Wallingford, service not known. Date of death and heirs as above.

CALAIS.	Inq. taken at Calais before John Devereux, captain, and William Eyrmyn, treasurer, Monday the morrow of the Close of Easter, 3 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned inn on the day of his death. Calais. An inn on the south-west corner of the market place, between the lane wherein John Bouchecourt now dwells on the west, the great street leading from ‘Milkyate’ to ‘le Wachehous’ on the south, a cottage of Agnes Crabbe on the north and the great market on the east. He held the said inn of king Edward III by service of two watchmen for the garrison of the town when required. The watchmen have been wanting ever since 43 Edward III. The inn was worth 10 marks yearly when John Bachecote held it at farm; but about Mid-Lent, 46 Edward III, it fell to the ground through lack of repair, and since then has been worth nothing. No one has been in possession of it or received the issues since the earl’s death, because it is in decay as above, except for a cottage there which William Eyrmyn, treasurer, caused to be repaired for the sojourn of Master William Newelyn, master and maker (fabricator) of the king’s guns (gunnorum) there, and for the exercise of his craft therein, and an old ruinous stable which was repaired at his own costs by a certain William de Ellerton, who now occupies it with his horses by licence of the said treasurer. The earl died in England about 20 January, 46 Edward III. He had two daughters who are his heirs, but as to their ages or names the jurors are ignorant.

The manor (extent given), held of the heir of the lord de Say, a minor in the king’s wardship, by knight’s service, to wit, by homage and fealty, suit to the said lord’s court of Patrikesbourne, and payment of 5s. yearly to the said lord, who shall pay the same to the castle of Dover for ward because he is mesne lord of the said manor between the king and the deceased. Berham, Newenton, Kyngeston, Hardres, Natyndon, Sutton, Cotmanton, Petham, Esshe, Maydenstane and Stone. 	He held the under-mentioned land and marsh for life by the courtesy of England in right of Albina, his wife, the reversion belonging to John, his son by the said Albina. Gillyngham. 6 a. land and a marsh, worth by the year 5s. only because the marsh is flooded by the sea-water of Medway, held of John Northwode, knight, as of his manor of Northwode Chasteneres, by knight’s service and payment of 20s. rent yearly. He died on 4 September, 49 Edward III. John, his son, aged 21 years on Sunday after St. Martin last, is next heir of him and the aforesaid Albina. Since his death the said John de Northwode, knight, has taken the issues of the 6 a. by reason of the minority of the heir. Thomas de Illyston, late escheator, seized the marsh into the king’s hand, together with the manor of Wykham after the death of John Dygye, clerk, whose heir the said John son of Roger is, by reason of the minority of the said heir, and has answered to the king for the issues thereof, as appears in his account.
