She died seised of the under-mentioned lands etc. in her demesne as of fee, to her and the heirs of her body.
Drax. A capital messuage, two cottages and a windmill, all in ruins, 129a. 1r. land, 13l. rent of assize in Drax, Neuland, Ayremynne, Roseholme, Scorthe and Langrake and a rent of 25 hens and 125 eggs in the same towns, all held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
She died on the feast of the Conception last. Richard Lely, aged 30 years and more, is her son and heir.

He was seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned lands etc. in Whitchurche and Goryng.
He was formerly seised of the other under-mentioned manor and lands but granted them to John Herdewyk the elder and Agnes his wife for their lives, the reversion belongs to the said John Herdewyk.
Whitchurche. A messuage, 60a. land, 2a. wood and 2a. meadow, held of the king of his manor of Whytchurche, as of the honor of Walyngford, by service of 4s. yearly and suit to the court of the said manor every three weeks.

She held the under-mentioned manors and parts of fees.
Garboldesham. A third part of two knights’ fees, held as parcel of her manor of Little Totham, Essex, of the king as of the honor of Hagnet. Margaret Haward, who is still living, holds it.
Langeford. A third part of two knights’ fees, held as above. John Methewold, who is still living, holds it.
Gyssynge. The manor called Gyssynggues, held of John Thelvetham, service unknown.
Reydon. The manor called Gyssynggeshalle, held of the said John Thelvetham, service unknown.

She held the under-mentioned manor and advowsons and the lands etc. in Assyndon, Hakewelle and Southbemflete for life by virtue of a fine levied in the king’s court on the morrow of St John the Baptist, 33 Edward III, between John Hevenyngham, knight, and the said Joan then his wife, querents, and Joan who was the wife of William de Barwe and John Dars, deforciants, whereby the manor and advowsons were granted to the said John Hevenyngham and Joan and the heirs male of their bodies and the other lands etc. to them and the heirs of John Hevenyngham.
She held the under-mentioned lands etc. in Little Totham, Goldhangre, Estwode and Sutton jointly with John Hevenyngham, her husband, deceased, to them and the heirs of the said John Hevenyngham.

He was not seised of any lands etc. in the county.
He died on Wednesday in the second week of Lent. He has no heir because he was born in bastardy.

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE. Inq. Saturday, 9 October, 19 Richard II.
Robert de Merlay bequeathed the under-mentioned tenement by the gate of the castle to the said Thomas and William de Redmershill.
The same Robert by his charter dated at Newcastle, Saturday before Michaelmas, 1 Richard II, gave the under-mentioned rent from a tenement opposite the chapel of St Andrew and three cottages in le Freremenourchar to the said Thomas and William.
The said Thomas died seised in his demesne as of fee jointly with Agnes his wife of the under-mentioned messuage in le Clathmarketgate by gift of William Hatter, chaplain, to them and the heirs of Thomas, and bequeathed it (all tenements in Newcastle being bequeathable by the custom of the town) after the death of Agnes to William Hatter, chaplain, and John de Heryngton.
He died seised in fee tail of all the other under-mentioned messuages etc. because William Hatter and Hugh Cutter, chaplains, by their charter dated at Newcastle on the eve of St Bartholomew, 10 Richard II, granted them to Alice daughter of John del Chaumbre of Newcastle, to her and the heirs of her body, with remainder to the said Thomas and the heirs of his body and failing such heirs the messuages etc. were to be sold by the executors of the will of Thomas del Chaumbre, who died long before the said feoffment and appointed as his executors the said Thomas de Heryngton and William de Redmershill. The said Alice and Thomas de Heryngton died without heirs of their bodies; William de Redmershill is still living.

Long before his death he held the under-mentioned fourth part of the right of Elizabeth his wife, who is still living.
Shirbourne. A fourth part of the manor, held of the king in chief as of the honor of Walyngford, service unknown.
He died on the day of St James the Apostle, 17 Richard II.
The said fourth part was taken into the king’s hands on Saturday before St Margaret, 15 Richard II, because of the said John Mannying’s forfeiture, and John Tame, clerk of the king’s household, has taken the issues from that day until now by the king’s grant. The escheator has again taken it into the king’s hands.

Long before his death, to wit, on Monday after St Barnabas, 16 Richard II, by his writing he gave John Knyth, clerk, and John Samwell the younger a yearly rent of 60l. for life out of the said manor and other lands that he had in the county of Buckingham, which was appointed at 8l. from the said manor and the rest from the other lands.

ESSEX. Inq. taken at Reyleigh, Monday before St Dennis, 18 Richard II.
She held the under-mentioned manor of Thorp for life by a fine levied in the king’s court three weeks from Michaelmas, 31 Edward III, between the said John and Alice his wife, querents, and Adam, parson of the church of St Peter on Cornhull, London, Richard de Walton, parson of the church of Rocheford, Robert de Teye, Thomas Chauntecler, John Boteler of Waledene and Adam de Erdale, deforciants, by which the said manor, with other manors, tenements and advowsons, was granted to the said John de Nevyll and Alice for life with remainder to William de Bohun, then earl of Northampton, and his heirs. Afterwards John de Nevyll died, likewise William de Bohun died and the reversion descended to Humphrey de Bohun, late earl of Hereford and Essex, who by his writing granted it to Simon de Sudbury, then bishop of London, Richard then earl of Arundell, Guy de Brian, John Knyvet, Richard Pembrugge, Thomas Maundevile, Adam Franceys, John Bampton, Philip de Melrethe, clerk, and Ives Sandhurst and the said Alice attorned to them. The said Guy, Thomas, Philip and Ives (the other feoffees being dead) granted the reversion to Joan de Bohun, countess of Hereford, for life with remainder to the right heirs of Humphrey earl of Hereford, and Alice attorned to the said countess.
She also held the under-mentioned third part by assignment of the said earl of Northampton and endowment of John de Nevyll, formerly her husband. The said earl was formerly seised of the reversion and granted it to Ralph Spigurnell, Philip Melreth, clerk, Hugh de Berwyk and Thomas de Winkefeld, and Alice attorned to them. Afterwards they granted it to the said countess by the name of Joan daughter of the earl of Arundel and the heirs of the bodies of her and Humphrey de Bohun, then her husband, with remainder to the right heirs of William de Bohun, late earl of Northampton.
Thorp alias Suthorp in the hundred of Rochford. The manor, held of the king as of the honor of Reileigh by knight’s service.
Great Wakeryngg. A third part of two-thirds of the manor, with appurtenances in Great and Little Wakeryngg, held of the king as above.
She died on Ascension Day last. Margery daughter of John de Nerford, knight, son of the said Alice, aged 32 years and more, is her heir.

She held the under-mentioned manor and advowsons for life, by a fine (as in the preceding inquisition), with remainder to William de Bohun, then earl of Northampton. The said earl died and the reversion descended to Humphrey de Bohun, late earl of Hereford and Essex, his son and heir, and from him to Eleanor and Mary, his daughters and heirs. Long before Alice’s death Eleanor was married to Thomas duke of Gloucester and Mary to Henry earl of Derby, so that the said duke and Eleanor, and the earl of Derby and Mary, after the death of Alice are seised of the premises. Eleanor is aged 28 years and more and Mary 24 years and more.
Wetheresfeld. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Esthordon and Little Halyngbury. The advowson of the churches.

John de Orreby, knight, being seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned manor, gave it by his charter to Thomas de Synythwayt, parson of the church of Hawkeswell, William Synythwayt, knight, and Richard, parson of the church of Candelsby, who by their charter gave it to the said John de Orreby and Margaret his wife, to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to Adam de Clifton, knight, and Robert Barnak, and Edward III by his letters patent pardoned and confirmed the gift. John de Orreby and Margaret had issue Joan, who was married to Henry lord de Percy and had issue Mary, who was the wife of John de Roos of Hamelake, knight. John de Orreby died and Joan died in her mother’s lifetime and Mary entered as daughter and heir of Joan and died without heir of her body. Adam de Clifton died long before Robert Barnak, who died without heir of his body; Maud, now wife of Ralph de Cromwell, lord of Tateshale, is his heir, to wit, daughter of John Barnak, brother of the said Robert, and is aged 40 years and more.
Dronfeld. The manor, held of the king in chief, service unknown.
She died at York on 25 August last.

Long before her death she granted by her writing to Henry de Percy, earl of Northumberland, Thomas de Percy, his brother, John de Leuesham, William de Roudon, William de Askby, clerks, and Hugh de Arderne of Dryffeld a yearly rent of 40l. from the said manor.
Daneseye. The manor, held of the king as of the honor of Dovorr, by the service of paying 5s. every twenty weeks to the ward of the castle of Dovorr. Long before her death she granted by her writing a yearly rent of 24l. from the said manor to William de Roudon, rector of the church of Warsop, for life, with remainder to Henry de Percy, earl of Northumberland, Thomas de Percy, Ralph de Percy son of the said Thomas, John de Leuesham, William de Askby and Hugh de Arderne.
Pylton. The manor, held of the lord de Bardolff, service unknown. She granted a yearly rent of 10l. from the said manor to the aforesaid William de Roudon for life, with remainder as above.
Hoklay. The manor, held of John Cook of Bradewell by the service of 9s. yearly. She granted a yearly rent of 16l. from the said manor to the aforesaid William de Roudon for life, with remainder as above.
Tyllyngham. Lands called le Hyd, containing about 100a., held of the dean and chapter of St Paul’s, London, by the service of 20s. yearly.
Date of death as above. John de la Mare, citizen of London, is her heir. One John de la Mare, knight, was formerly seised of the premises and his right descended to Florence, his daughter, who was married to Philip de Orreby, knight, to John de Orreby, knight, her son, to Joan his daughter who was married to Henry de Percy, and to the said Mary daughter of Joan. The said John de la Mare had a brother of the whole blood, William, who had issue Matthew who had issue Thomas who had issue John father of the said John de la Mare, citizen of London.
