NOTTINGHAM. Inq. taken at Newerk, Wednesday after Michaelmas, 17 Richard II.
She died seised of the under-mentioned manor.
Eyleston. A manor called Stouhallefee and Gollehallefee, containing 32 bovates of land, whereof 16 bovates called Stouhallefee are held of John duke of Aquitaine and Lancaster by knight’s service, as of the honor of Tikhill, and 16 bovates called Gollehallefee are held of John Bussy, knight, lord of Ogham, by knight’s service.
She died at Eyleston on Friday after Christmas, 15 Richard II. William son of William de Hamsterley, aged 16 years, is her son and heir.

He held the under-mentioned manor in his demesne as of fee.

He died on Saturday the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist last. John his son, aged 5 years and more, is his heir.

YORK. Inq. taken at Thresk, Thursday the feast of St James, 16 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned 4 messuages and 5 bovates of land in his demesne as of fee on the day of his death. Long before his death he enfeoffed thereof Peter de Gertheston, parson of the church of Scurveton, and William de Botheby and William de Awne, chaplains, without the king’s licence, and the said feoffees, also without the king’s licence, re-enfeoffed him and Isabel his wife, who is still living, to hold to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs.
He also held the under-mentioned 6 messuages and 20a. land jointly with the said Isabel, to them and the heirs of their bodies.
Thresk. 4 messuages and 5 bovates of land, held of the king in chief by knight’s service; and 6 messuages and 20a. land, held of Thomas de Moubray, earl of Nottingham, by knight’s service.
He died on Saturday before All Saints last. Thomas his son, aged 5 years, is his heir.

He held the under-mentioned manor of Northcote jointly with Katharine his wife, who is still living, by gift and feoffment of Baldwin Picot, knight, and Roger Balle, clerk, to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs.
He also held the under-mentioned lands etc. in Trynge and Nortcherche jointly with the said Katharine.
Northcote. The manor, held of the honor of Berkhamsted by socage and service of 28s., and by service in autumn to the value of 9d., or by 9d., and by suit of court every three weeks.
Trynge. 10a. land, held of the archbishop of Canterbury by service of 3s. yearly.
Nortcherche. 20a. land and a grove of wood in the parish, held of Robert Corbet, knight, as of the manor of Maudeleyn, by service of 8s. yearly.
He died on Saturday before Palm Sunday last. William de Luton, his son, aged 13 years and more, is his heir.

He held the under-mentioned manors and advowson in his demesne as of fee.
Hertwelle and Little Hampden. The manors, with the advowson of the church of Hertwell, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
He died on Friday before Palm Sunday last, which fell on 17 March. Heir as above, aged 12 years and more.

In addition to the manors etc. mentioned in the above inquisition he held the under-mentioned messuages and lands etc. in joint feoffment with Katharine his wife, who is still living, to them and the heirs of their bodies, by feoffment of Baldwin Pocot (sic), knight, and Roger Balle, chaplain.
Hertewell. A messuage and 30a. land formerly of John atte Welle, and a toft and 24a. land called Bridportus.
Little Hampden. 60a. wood and a wood called Lutelwode and Ranesgrove.
All held of William de Hertewell by service of a clove yearly.
William de Luton his son, aged 12 years and more, is his heir to the said additional lands.

WILTS. Inq. taken at Salisbury, Tuesday, 9 April, 15 Richard II.
The said John died seised of the under-mentioned knights’ fees and rents, which were taken into the king’s hand on his death by virtue of two inquisitions taken before Richard Horn, late escheator.
Upton Escudamour. 3 knights’ fees, and 50s. rent belonging thereto to be received yearly by the hands of Robert Corbet, knight, John’s tenant in that town.
Teffont Ewyas. A fourth part of a knight’s fee, and 6s. 8d. rent belonging thereto to be received yearly by the hands of Thomas Hungerford, knight, John’s tenant in that town.
Rouclee. One knight’s fee, and 13s. 4d. rent belonging thereto to be received yearly by the hands of Robert Russell, knight, John’s tenant in that town.
Norton Bavent and Fiffide. 3 knights’ fees, whereof the prioress of Dertford is tenant.
The escheator has assigned to the said Margaret as her dower a third part of the above fees in the above towns respectively, in the presence and by view of John Brokman, one of the attorneys of John de Monte Acuto, knight, son and heir of the said John her husband.

CUMBERLAND. Inq. taken at Penreth, Tuesday after the Circumcision, 15 Richard II.
He died seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned manors and moiety.
Culgayth. The manor, held of the king in chief by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee, and by homage and fealty and service of rendering 16s. yearly at the Exchequer of Carlisle.
Distyngton. A moiety of the town, containing a castle in ruins, held of the king in chief by service of a twenty-fourth part of a knight’s fee.
Moriceby. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of the prior of Huntyngton in socage by service of rendering 16s. yearly to the said prior and 51s. 8d. yearly to the earl of Northumberland. The church is not enough for the support of a chaplain celebrating divine service there.
He died on Wednesday after St Martin last. Christopher his son, aged 11 years and more, is his heir.

He died seised of the under-mentioned manor and advowson of Askeby Wynanderwath in joint feoffment with Joan his wife, who is still living, to hold to them and his heirs.
He died seised of the under-mentioned manor of Wyanderwath in his demesne as of fee.
Askeby Wynanderwath. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of the lord de Clifford, a minor in the king’s wardship, by homage and fealty and service of rendering 11s. yearly for cornage.
Wyanderwath. The manor, held of the said lord de Clifford by homage and fealty and service of rendering 8s. yearly for cornage and 4 qrs oats and 8s. in money yearly to the said lord de Clifford’s foresters of Wynfell.

The under-mentioned third part and hundred etc. were taken into the hand of Edward III and are now in the king’s hand by reason of the idiocy of the said William.
Luton. A third part of the manor, held of the king in chief by service of a third part of half a knight’s fee.
Flittes. The hundred, with the leet belonging thereto, held of the king by service of 60s. to be paid to the sheriff yearly.
He died on Thursday after St Andrew last. Hugh son of the said Henry, aged 24 years and more, is his brother and heir.

Magor. A messuage with a dovecot built on it, 6 1/2a. arable, 6a. pasture and 5 marks yearly rent, held of the king by knight’s service.

The under-mentioned manors of Cheilmershe and Quatte were taken into the king’s hand by reason of the idiocy of the said William, and are still in the king’s hand.
The under-mentioned manors of Liehall and Aston under Cawes and rents etc. of the hamlets of Hempton and Sutton were taken into the king’s hand after the death of the lady Elizabeth late wife of the said Henry Mortymer, knight, by reason of the idiocy of the said William, and are still in the king’s hand. Elizabeth held them for life by gift of Hugh Mortymer, knight, father of the said Henry.
Cherlmershe. The manor (extent given), with the whole tenancy of the free tenants of the hamlet of Sutton, which is parcel of the said manor, held of Roger Mortymer, earl of March, a minor, service not known. The extent includes a meadow called Brodemede, 2 meadows called Cressewalmore and le Smalemede, a park, and pleas and perquisites of court.
Quatte. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief, service not known. The extent includes a meadow called Sirehughesmede lying in le Brodemere, held of Hugh de Dodemaston by service of 2s. and a pair of gloves or 1 1/2d. yearly, a wood called le Birches, and pleas and perquisites of court.
Liehall. The manor (extent given), held of Hugh de Dodemaston by service of 1d. yearly. The extent includes a ferry across the river Severn and pleas and perquisites of court.
Aston under Cawes. The manor (extent given), held of John Mouthe, service not known. The extent includes pleas and perquisites of court.

SOMERSET. Inq. taken at Quenecammell, Tuesday before the Nativity of St Mary, 15 Richard II.
He held no lands etc. in the county on the day of his death; but long before his death he was seised of the under-mentioned two-thirds of the manor of Meriet, and enfeoffed thereof William Seymour, now deceased, and John Beyvyn and Simon Olyver, who are still living, to hold to them and their heirs, on condition that they should re-enfeoff thereof him and Maud late the wife of Ralph Seymour, knight, whom he wished to marry and afterwards married, and who is still living, to hold to them and his heirs. The said feoffees were seised accordingly, without the king’s licence having been obtained.
Long before his death he was seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned manors of Compton Donden and Brodemersshton, and granted them to John Knyght of Chuton, Robert Rowe, chaplain, and Thomas Bowode, to hold to them and their heirs, on condition that they should grant the same to him and Maud his wife, for life, with successive remainders to Urry Seymour and Elizabeth his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, and to William Seymour and his heirs.
Meriet. Two-thirds of the manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Compton Donden. The manor, held of the abbot of Glastonbury by knight’s service.
Brodemersshton. The manor, held of the heir of the earl of Hereford by knight’s service.
He died on the feast of St Anne last. Elizabeth wife of Urry Seymour, his daughter, is his heir and the said Elizabeth [struck through] was aged 4 years on the feast of St Lucy last.

BUCKINGHAM. Inq. taken at Wycombe, Monday before St Clement, 15 Richard II.
Maud daughter of John Blome was seised of the under-mentioned meadow, messuage and land in her demesne as of fee; and while she was so seised the said William married her, and they had issue William their son. Maud was survived by the said William her husband, who occupied the premises all his life as tenant by the courtesy of England, and died so seised.
Kyngeseye. 7a. meadow, held of the king in chief, as of the crown, by service of 3d. yearly.
Great Kynbell. A messuage and a carucate of land, held of the earl of Oxford by service of suit of court at Whitchirche.
