NORFOLK. Inq. taken at Lodene, Wednesday after St Hilary, 22 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned moiety as of the right of Avelina formerly his wife, now deceased, and it came to the hands of Edward III by reason of his outlawry for felony.
Ravenyngham. A moiety of a messuage and 5a. land, held of Nicholas atte Castell as of his manor of Ravenyngham by 16d. rent of assize yearly.
He died on Tuesday before St Martin, 14 Richard II. William Daddyng, son of the said Avelina, aged 56 years and more, is his heir.

ESSEX. Inq. (indented) taken at Stratford Langthorn, Friday before the Translation of St Thomas the Martyr, 23 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned rent and advowson for life by the law of England, as of the right of Elizabeth his wife, deceased, who held them in her demesne as of fee.
Upmenstre. A yearly rent of a pair of gilt spurs, price 6d., out of the manor formerly of John de Haverynge and the advowson of the church, of whom held and by what services unknown.
He died on Tuesday before St Barnabas, 22 Richard II. Katharine daughter of the said Lawrence and Elizabeth, aged 27 years and more, is heir of the said Elizabeth.

HUNTINGDON. Inq. taken at Huntyngdon, Saturday before St Alban, 22 Richard II.
Long before his death he enfeoffed John Hervy, John Lee, John Wysebech, parson of the church of Newton Longvyle, and Henry Brodyng, chaplain, of the under-mentioned manor.
Offord Dacy. The manor, with lands in Offord Dacy and Offord Cluny, held of the earl of Stafford, services unknown.
Deat of death as above. John, aged 9 years and more at Michaelmas last, is his heir.

Long before his death he enfeoffed John Hervy etc. (as above, Huntingdon inquisition) of the under-mentioned messuage and lands in fee simple.
Fenydrayton. A messuage, 70a. land and 10a. meadow, held of Hugh Zouche, knight, by service of 25s. yearly and suit to his court every three weeks.

NORTHAMPTON. Inq. taken at Hegham Ferrers, Wednesday the morrow of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, 23 Richard II.
He held for life by the law of England as of the right of Elizabeth his wife, deceased, the under-mentioned manor of Pyghtesle, also the reversion of the manor of Laxton, held for life by Katharine who was the wife of Thomas Dengayn, knight.
He held the under-mentioned manor of Theneford in fee tail, to him and the heirs of his body.
He held the under-mentioned land in Undele in his demesne as of fee.
Long before his death he enfeoffed John Hervy etc. (as above, Huntingdon inquisition) of the under-mentioned manor of Irchestre.
Pyghtesle. The manor, held with the manor of Laxton of the king in chief by service of finding hounds to destroy wolves, foxes, weasels, cats and other vermin in the counties of Northampton, Rutland, Oxford, Essex, Huntingdon and Buckingham.
Theneford. The manor, held of the heirs of John Wolverton by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee and 5s. yearly.
Undele. 60a. land, held of Reynold Grey of Ruthyn by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee. The said Lawrence by his charter granted to Elizabeth Botoun of Coton in Keryngton by Bedford and Hugh her son for life a yearly rent of 50s. out of the said lands.
Irchestre. The manor, held of Henry earl of Derby by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.
Date of death and heir as above (Huntingdon inquisition). Katharine daughter of the said Lawrence and Elizabeth, aged 27 years and more, is Elizabeth’s heir.

BEDFORD. Inq. taken at Sharnebrok, Friday before the Nativity of St John the Baptist, 22 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned lands in Hynewyk in fee tail, to him and the heirs of his body, and the manor of Hynewyk to himself and the heirs of his body procreated from Joan Latymer, which [heir is] John, a minor in the king’s wardship.
He held the under-mentioned messuages and lands in Harewold in his demesne as of fee.
Long before his death he enfeoffed by his charter with the king’s licence his daughter Katharine of the under-mentioned two thirds of the manor of Eton.
Long before his death he enfeoffed by his charter Lawrence his son and Joan his wife and the heirs of their bodies of the under-mentioned manor of Pabenham. Lawrence the son is dead without heir of his body, so the reversion after Joan’s death belongs to the right heirs of Lawrence the father.
Long before his death he enfeoffed by his charter John Hervy etc. (as above, Huntingdon inquisition) of the under-mentioned manor of Farnedissh with the advowson of the church.
Hynewyk. 1a. land in demesne and a messuage and 11a. land in service, held by service of rendering to the king 2s. yearly at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff.
Harewold. 9 messuages, 120a. land, 9s. rent, 200a. wood and 30a. pasture, held of Reynold de Grey of Ruthyn by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee.
Hynewyk. A messuage and a carucate of land, held of the said Reynold by service of 40s. yearly, and a toft, held of the said Reynold by service of a sore sparrowhawk or 16d. yearly.
Hynewyk. The manor, except the aforesaid tenements, held of the said Reynold by service of 1 1/2 knights’ fees and suit to his court of Bedford every three weeks.
Eton. Two-thirds of the manor, held of the king in chief, service unknown.
Pabenham. The manor, held of the said John Latymer by service of 1 1/2 knights’ fees.
Farnedissh. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of John Wowels of Wardon by service of a tenth part of a knight’s fee.

KENT. Inq. taken at Byllerica, Friday the Translation of St Martin, 23 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned lands and rents in his demesne as of fee. Blakmanston, Newcherche and Seyntemarycherche and land called Turnegate. 44a. land and pasture, whereof 13a. in Blakemanston are held of the king in chief by knight’s service and 8d. yearly to ward of the castle of Dovorr and are charged with 20d. yearly rent to Nicholas Haute, knight, to his manor of Blakmanston, and 31a. are of gavelkind tenure, whereof 25a. are held of the archbishop of Canterbury by fealty and suit to his court of Aldynton every three weeks and service of 3s. 4d. yearly and 6a. are held of the said archbishop by fealty and suit to his court of Lymmynge and service of 15d. yearly.
St Martin de Pounteney, Yvecherche and Olderomene. 32s. and 20 hens yearly free rent, held of the said archbishop of his court of Aldynton by gavelkind.

She held the under-mentioned third part in her demesne as of fee.
Thurstantonehalle in Haukedon. A third part of the manor, held of the duke of Lancaster by service of 40d. ‘wardeselvir’.
She died on 18 December last. Walter FizWalter, knight, and Robert de Harington, knight, both aged 30 years and more, are her heirs, to wit, Walter, son of Walter, son of John, son of Joan, sister of Margaret Lucy, mother of Anthony Lucy, brother of the said Maud, and Robert, son of John, son of Elizabeth, another sister of the said Margaret Lucy.

YORK. Inq. taken at Hesill, Tuesday after St Hilary, 22 Richard II.
She held the under-mentioned third part for life in dower, by the endowment of Gilbert de Humfraville earl of Angos, formerly her husband.
Hesill. A third part of the manor, with a third part of the passage of the water of Humber, held of Thomas duke of Surrey by knight’s service.
She died on Wednesday after St Lucy last. William de Melton, knight, aged 40 years and more, is her heir on her father’s side.

She died seised in her demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned manors.
She was enfeoffed with Henry earl of Northumberland, to themselves and his heirs by the gift of John de Akom, parson of Petworth, Robert Flynthalgh, parson of Midelton, Thomas de Watton and Thomas Thurkyll, with the licence of the king, of the under-mentioned manor of Lekyngfeld.
She was enfeoffed with the said earl to themselves and his heirs of the under-mentioned manor of Catton.
Lekyngfeld. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Catton. The manor, held of the king as of the honor of Chester, service unknown.

Writ to enquire what lands she held for life of the inheritance of Gilbert son of Thomas Humfraville, a minor in the king’s wardship. 23 December, 22 Richard II.
LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Lincoln, Friday after the Purification, 22 Richard II.
Gilbert de Umfravyll, late earl of Angos, by his charter dated at Kyme, Monday before the Nativity of St Mary, 40 Edward III, granted to John Hauburgh, parson of the church of Iwardby, John de Pykworth, parson of Ellesdon, and John Thorp of Repynghale, their heirs and assigns, the manors of Kyme, Croft, Thorp and Aswardby. Afterwards by a fine levied at Westminster a month from Easter, 41 Edward III, between the said earl and Maud his wife, querents, and the said John, John and John, deforciants, the said manors were granted to the said earl and Maud and the heirs of their bodies with successive remainders to Robert, brother of the said earl, and the heirs male of his body, Thomas, brother of Robert, and the heirs male of his body and the earl’s right heirs, by virtue of which remainders the manors come to Gilbert son of Thomas son of the said Thomas, a minor in the king’s wardship.
The said earl, by his charter dated at Calceby, Thursday after St Edmund the confessor, 2 Richard II, granted to the said John de Hauburgh, Richard de Ovyngham, parson of Aswardby and William Pilet of Screkyngton a fourth part of the site of the manor of Calceby and a messuage and a bovate of land there, and the appurtenances of the manor in Calceby, Friskenay, Braytoft, Irby and Waynflete. Afterwards by a fine levied at Westminster, the octave of Hilary, 2 Richard II, between the said earl and Maud his wife, querents, and the said John, Richard and William, deforciants, concerning three knights fees and a half, 80 messuages, 6 bovates of land, 100a. meadow, 200a. marsh, 50l. rent and a rent of 50 quarters of salt in Calceby, Friskenay, Braytoft, Irby and Waynflete, and the fourth part of the site of the manor, the premises were granted to the said earl and Maud and the heirs of their bodies with successive remainders to Robert brother of the said earl and his heirs male, Thomas brother of Robert and his heirs male, Thomas de Umfravyll son of Joan daughter of Adam de Rodom and his heirs male, Robert his brother and his heirs male, and to the right heirs of the said earl.
The said earl, by his charter dated at Kyme, Sunday after the Annunciation, 3 Richard II, granted to the said John Hauburgh, John Pikworth, parson of Catton, the said Richard de Ovyngham and William Pilet the manors of Southelkyngton, Bamburgh, Great Strytton and Metheryngham, and they by his desire granted the manors of Southelkyngton, Bamburgh and Metheryngham to Maud his wife for term of life, with successive remainders (as for Calceby).
William Dere, vicar of Croft, John son of Hugh Maldson of Burgh and Simon de Luceby of Croft, chaplain, granted by charter to the said Gilbert and Maud his wife and the heirs of his body, with successive remainders as in the manor of Kyme, a court and an annual rent in Wynthorp.
Southkyme and Northkyme. The manors, with their members in Amwyk, le Brentfen in Amwyk, Swynesheved, Iwardby, Conynggesby, Bylynggay, Dokdik, Walcote by Bylynggay, Bekyr and Ansthorp.
Croft. The manor with its members in Skegnes, Friskenay, Waynflete, Burgh, Ingoldmelys, Wynthorp, Braytoft and Irby.
Aswardby. The manor with its members in Osbernby, Kirkeby, Asgardby, Ownesby, Helpyngham, Swarby, New Lafford, Qweryngton, Colby, Grantham and Ledenham.
The above are held of lord de Bello Monte by knight’s service, except for a parcel of land in Northkyme and another in Kyrkeby held of the duke of Surrey, service unknown, and a parcel of land in Byker held of the heirs of Nicholas de Rye, knight, service unknown.
Thorp by Waynflete. The manor with its members in Frisby, Burgh and Stikford, held of the honor of Bolyngbrok by knight’s service.
Calceby. A fourth part of the site of the manor, a messuage and bovate of land there, and 3 1/2 knight’s fees, 80 messuages, 6 bovates of land, 100a. meadow, 200a. marsh, 50l. rent and a rent of 50 quarters of salt in Friskenay, Waynflete, Irby and Braytoft, held of the duke of Lancaster as of his manor of Beltesford.
South Elkyngton. The manor, held of the earl of Northumberland by knight’s service.
Bamburgh. The manor, held of lord de Bello Monte by knight’s service.
Metheryngham. The manor, held of the honor of Chester by knight’s service.
Wynthorp. A court and 2s. annual rent, held of the duke of Lancaster as of the honor of Bitham.
She died 18 December last. William de Melton, knight, aged 40 years and more, is her kinsman and heir.

LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Lincoln, Friday after the Purification, 22 Richard II.
By his charter dated at Calceby, Tuesday the feast of St Andrew, 2 Richard II, Gilbert Umframvill, earl of Angos, enfeoffed John de Pikeworth, parson of the church of Catton, John de Thorp of Repynghale and John de Dunston, parson of the church of Deen, of the under-mentioned manor of Calceby with appurtenances, in Frisknay, Braytoft, Irby and Waynflet, except a fourth part of the site of the manor, a messuage and a bovate of land, which William North held in bondage, and also enfeoffed them of all his lands, rents, services and reversions in Saltflethaven. Afterwards by a fine levied in the king’s court in fifteen days of Easter, 2 Richard II, the manor of Calceby, except as above and except 3 1/2 knights’ fees, 80 messuages, 6 bovates of land, 100a. meadow, 200a. marsh, 50l. rent and a rent of 50 quarters of salt, was granted to the said earl and Maud his wife and the heirs of the body of the earl, with remainder to Henry de Percy, earl of Northumberland, and the heirs male of his body. The said earl of Angos died without heir of his body and after his death the said Maud died seised of the manor, the reversion belonging to the said Henry earl of Northumberland.
By his charter dated 11 June, 40 Edward III, the said earl of Angos with the king’s licence enfeoffed Henry Asty, John de Hauburgh, parson of the church of Iwardby, Thomas de Umframvill, John de Picworth, parson of the church of Ovyngham, and John de Repynghale of the under-mentioned manor of Burwell and advowson of the priory of Burwell and they enfeoffed thereof the said earl of Angos and Maud his wife (as above, manor of Calceby).
The said Maud was seised of the under-mentioned wood in Calthorp and meadow in Great Carleton by feoffment of John de Hauburgh, parson of the church of Iwardby, William Pilet of Scredyngton and Richard de Ovyngham, parson of the church of Aswardby, to the said earl of Angos and Maud (as above, manor of Calceby).
Calceby. The manor, held of the duke of Lancaster as of his manor of Belcheford by knight’s service.
Burwell. The manor, with the advowson of the priory, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Calthorp. A wood called Crakesnabbe, and 10a. meadow in Great Carleton, held of the heirs of John de Schadworth, service unknown.
She died on 18 December last. William de Meleton, knight, aged 40 years and more, is her heir on her father’s side.

LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Spaldyng, Thursday before St Valentine, 22 Richard II.
She held the under-mentioned manors, lands, advowsons etc. in her demesne as of fee.
Multon. A third part of the manor, which extends into Multon, Quaplade, Spaldyng and Weston. It is charged with a yearly rent of 10l. to Ralph de Fryskenay for life by grant of the earl of Northumberland and the said Maud by a fine levied in the king’s court. The tenements in Multon and Spaldyng are held of the prior of Spaldyng by service of 49s. 5 1/4d. yearly, the tenements in Weston of Walter Petewardyn, knight, as of the fee of Crowmer by knight’s service, and the tenements in Quaplade of James de Roos, knight, and the abbot of Croylond by service of 2s. yearly.
Beausolas. A third part of the manor, held of the heirs of Stephen de Wygtoft by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.
Skyrbek. A third part of the manor, with the whole advowson of the church and a third part of the advowson of the hospital, held of the earl of Richmond, service unknown.
Kyrketon. A third part of the manor, held of the earl of Richmond by knight’s service.
Staynton Wadyngham. The advowson of the church of St Mary, a fourth part of a knight’s fee held by Robert Byrthorp and a rent of a pair of gilt spurs from John Nevyle of Faldyngworth for his tenements in Snyterby, held of the heirs of the earl of Lincoln by knight’s service.
Mymmyngesby. 10s. rent, held of the earl of Richmond as parcel of the manor of Skyrbek, service unknown.
Flete, Holbech and Gedney. 20a. land, 88a. meadow, 16a. pasture, 59s. and 30s. rent, 2 bushels of salt, a third part of an ark of salt and a third part of the profits of the port of Flete.
Flete. The reversion of a third part of the manor (except the aforesaid parcels), held for life in dower by Joan, wife of Matthew Redman, by endowment of Anthony Lucy, formerly her husband, held of the heirs of the duke of Lancaster as of the honor of Lancaster by knight’s service.
She died on 18 December last. Walter le Fitz Walter, knight, aged 26 years and more, and Robert Haryngton, knight, aged 30 years and more, are her heirs, because Thomas de Multon, lord Egrimund, died seised of the said third parts of manors etc. with other lands and John his son entered into them, after whose death they descended to Joan, Elizabeth and Margaret, sisters of the said John and the above premises were Margaret’s part. She married Thomas Lucy, knight, and had issue Anthony Lucy and the said Maud. Anthony succeeded and died without issue, when the purparty descended to the said Maud. The said Walter is son of Walter, son of John, son of Joan, sister of the said Margaret, and the said Robert is son of John, son of Elizabeth, sister of the said Margaret.

NORTHUMBERLAND. Inq. (indented) taken at Morpeth on Monday, 10 March, 22 Richard II.
She died seised of the under-mentioned castle of Prudhowe and manor of Ovyngham by feoffment and grant of John de Hauburgh, parson of the church of Iwardby, John de Pykworth, parson of the church of Ovyngham, John de Repyngall and Nicholas de Sabraham, with the king’s licence, to Gilbert de Umfravill, formerly earl of Angois, and the said Maud and the heirs of their bodies, with successive remainders to Henry lord de Percy and the heirs male of his body and to the right heirs of the said Henry. The said Henry is still living and is now earl of Northumberland.
She died seised of the under-mentioned manor and town of Corbrygge jointly with Henry de Percy, earl of Northumberland, who is still living, by the grant of John de Acome, parson of the church of Petworth, Robert de Flynthalgh, parson of the church of Midilton, Thomas de Watton and Thomas Thurkeld, with the king’s licence, to them and the heirs of the body of the said earl.
She died seised jointly with the said earl of Northumberland of the reversion of the under-mentioned castle and manor of Langley, which Joan de Graystok holds in dower for her life, by gift of John de Waltame, clerk, John de Mitford and Ranulph de Fryskenay, to them and the heirs male of their bodies with successive remainders in tail male to Henry, son of the said earl, on condition that they bear the arms of the earl, or, a lion azure, quartered with the arms of Lucy, gowles, three lucies argent, to Thomas de Percy, knight, brother of the earl, Thomas, son of the earl and Ralph, son of the earl, on the same condition, and to the right heir’s of the said Maud.
She died seised of the under-mentioned land in Miklee for life by feoffment of Richard de Belingham and Richard Rowland, with successive remainders to Henry earl of Northumberland and the heirs male of his body and to the right heirs of Gilbert de Umframvyll earl of Angois.
She died seised of the other under-mentioned manors, lands etc. for life as of the endowment of Gilbert de Umframvyll, earl of Angois, formerly her husband, the reversion belonging to Gilbert, son of Thomas de Umframvyll, knight, a minor in the king’s wardship, except the reversion of Fawdon and Flotwaton, which belongs to Walter Tailbews.
Prudhoe. The castle, and the manor of Ovyngham, held of the king in chief by castle ward and cornage, paying to the ward of the castle of Newcastle on Tyne 13s. 4d. by the hands of the sheriff.
Corbrygge. The manor and town, held of the king as free burgage, paying 40l. yearly, which Ralph de Nevyll, earl of Westmorland, receives as son and heir of John de Nevyll, lord of Raby, son and heir of Ralph de Nevyll, to whom Edward III granted it by his letters patent. All the tenants are the king’s free burgesses and hold their tenements in free burgage.
Langley. The castle and manor, held of the king by knight’s service.
Redesdall. A third part of the lordship.
Oterburn. The manor, with divers places, scalings and wastes, to wit, Over Redesheved, Erlsyde, Shetilhop, Abbotesland of Jedworth in Troughen, Baxsterland, Boversland, Garareschele, Smalbourne, Byschopland, Kirkestilland, Lytell Wodbourne, Hatherwyk, Oderdesfeld, Grenesonhesils, Over Monkryge, Wellastrother, Nether Monkryge, Farneclogh, Middilwanges, Chapyngtonfeld, Hirnhousfeld, Mekilhyresefeld, Shotilhough, Shotilhoughpark, 21s. 2d. rent from Herbotle, 3 lb. pepper, 3 lb. cummin, 32s. 4 1/2d. from 4l. 17s. 1 1/2d. from divers tenants of the manor.
All the lands etc. in Redesdale are held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Shirmondesden in Cokdale. A third part of the demesne lands of the manor, to wit, 100a. land towards the east and 26 1/2a. meadow, a third part of the park and of 2 water-mills, 3s. 11 1/2d. rent of assize, 3s. 4d. castle ward, 1 1/2 lb. pepper and 1 lb. cummin from three husbandlands in Alwenton, three cottages there and a third part of a pasture called Butterland, held of Henry earl of Northumberland by knight’s service.
Fawdon. A third part of the town, held of Henry earl of Northumberland in socage, for 3s. 4d. yearly.
Flotwaton. A third part of the manor, held of Robert de Ogle, knight, by knight’s service.
Miklee. A messuage and land pasture and wood called Egewell, held of Ralph Nevill, earl of Westmorland, paying 8d. and 2 lb. cummin yearly.
She died on Wednesday before Christmas last. William de Melton, knight, aged 40 years and more, is her heir, to wit, son of Joan de Melton, sister of Thomas de Lucy, father of the said Maud.

CUMBERLAND. Inq. taken at Cokermouth, Monday the feast of St Matthias, 22 Richard II.
She held the under-mentioned castle, manors, reversions etc. in the same way as the castle and manor of Langley (above, Northumberland inquisition).
The under-mentioned third part of the barony of Egremonde, a moiety of the manor of Aspatrik and the under-mentioned advowsons are held in dower by Joan de Graystoke for term of life, with reversion to the said Henry and Maud.
Cokermouth. The castle and honor, held of the king in chief by the service of one knight’s fee.
Papecastre. The manor, which pertains to the said honor.
Brathewayt, Deen and Aspatrik. The manors, held as above.
Wygton. (fn. 1) The manor, held of the king in chief by homage and fealty and 5 marks for cornage.
Caldebek. (fn. 1) The manor, held as above by homage and fealty and 20s. for cornage.
Ulvedall. (fn. 1) The manor, held as above by homage and fealty and 13s. 4d. for cornage.
