Ketlebere. A messuage and 60a. land, held of Sir William de Bovile and Joan his wife, as of the right of the said Joan, by service of a clove gillyflower.

(Unspecified.) 6a. arable and 3a. wood, held of the king in chief by service of a horse (afri) price 5s., with a sack and pin (broch’) price 4d., in Wales in the king’s army for 40 days at his own costs; and a messuage, orchard, and 6 bovates land, held of William Mortein by service of suit of court at Nottingham at the court of Peverell, and two attendances at the said William’s court at Wollaton, and paying scutage when it runs.

429. ALICE LATE THE WIFE OF MARTIN PAYN.
Writ (of certiorari) on the complaint of the said Martin that 18a. land in Rokyng had been taken into the king’s hand by reason of the minority of the said Alice’s heir, which he ought to hold for life by the courtesy of England, 7 June, 7 Edw. II.
KENT. Inq. Monday the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 7 Edw. II.
Rokynge. 18a. land were held by the said Alice and her ancestors of Adam de Socheneghe and his ancestors, by service of 2s. 6d., being parcel of 1/2 knight’s fee which the said Adam holds of the king in chief by doing 5s. yearly for the guard of the castle of Dover, and suit at the king’s court of Redlevet. The said Martin begat issue of the said Alice, Robert and Walter, of whom Robert aged 14 is her heir. The lands are worth 18s. yearly, and have been in the king’s hand for three and a half years, but the said Martin ought to hold them for life by the courtesy of England.

Radclive. A messuage and 1 virgate and 16a. land, held of the king in chief, being parcel of the manor of Radeclive before the manor was alienated with the king’s licence by the said Peter to Ralph Basset; the manor is held of the king in chief, by service of mewing a goshawk, and finding a porter (portitorem) with a tabard (tabor’) at the king’s wage (vad’). He held no other lands in the county.
Simon de Senvyll aged 40, and Isabel Toke aged 60, are his next heirs.

Heydene. 27s. 4d. rent of assize and 7s. 11 1/2d. works yearly, held of the king in chief by service of giving water to the king for washing his hands on the day of his coronation; and the said Peter sometime held there by the same tenure a capital messuage, 220a. arable, 40a. fresh land, 1a. meadow, 8a. pasture, and 2a. thorn, whereof long before his death he enfeoffed Robert Rose, who afterwards re-enfeoffed the said Peter and Joan his wife, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Peter but whether by the king’s licence or not the jury know not.

Berwholt. A manor (extent given), held of the heirs of Robert Tony by service of a pair of gilt spurs yearly.

Ersbourye in Miccham. The manor (extent given), held for life of Florence de la Mare by doing to Peter de Monteforti and his heirs yearly for the said Florence a pair of gilt spurs or 6d.; which manor the said Florence quietly held for six years during the life of Petronilla her mother; and 60a. arable and 12a. meadow outside the said manor, held of Henry Pas, lord of Bernak, service unspecified.

Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Eleanor, late the wife of the said John, that the escheator had taken into the king’s hand the manors of Dangeye and Bradewell, and lands &c. in Hockele and Pilton, of which she was jointly enfeoffed with the said John, 18 Oct. 7 Edw. II.
ESSEX. Inq. 2 Nov. 7 Edw. II.
Dangeye. The manor was held by William de Braham, who thereof enfeoffed the said John and Eleanor his wife by fine levied in the king’s court, to hold to them and the heirs of the said John; which manor is held of the king in chief by service of 1 mark for the guard of the castle of Dover for 20 weeks, for two parts of the manor; and Joan de Cramavyle was dowered of the third part of the said manor by the late king Edward, for which she renders 1/2 mark for the guard of the said castle.
Pilton in Bradewell. Lands &c. held of the manor of Dangeye by service of 3s. yearly.
Bradewell. The manor, with certain lands &c. in Pylton and Hokkele, were held by Ralph de Crescy, who thereof enfeoffed the said John and Eleanor, as above; which manor of Bradewell is held of Thomas Bardolf by service of 1/2 knight’s fee, and the lands &c. in Hokkele are held of John the cook (coco) by service of 9s. yearly. Of all which lands the said Eleanor peacefully continued her seisin, until the death of the said John.

446. ROBERT TOURP alias TURP of Edenhale.
Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Beatrice, late the wife of the said Robert, that the escheator had taken into the king’s hand two parts of the manor of Edenhale, which she and her husband had jointly acquired of the gift of Adam Tourp, to hold to them and the heirs of their bodies, with reversion to the said Adam and his heirs, 12 April, 7 Edw. II.
[CUMBERLAND.] Inq. Tuesday before St. John the Baptist, 7 Edw. II.
Edenhale. The said Robert and Beatrice his wife were jointly enfeoffed of two parts of the manor by Adam Turp of Edenhall on Whitsunday, 4 Edw. II, by the king’s licence, and they continued their joint seisin until Monday before the Purification, 7 Edw. II, when the said Robert died. The said two parts are held of the king in chief by homage and fealty, and by service of 1/4 knight’s fee.

Wlankeslowe. The hamlet (extent given), held of the king in chief by service of finding an armed man with a horse unbarded at his own charges at the castle of Montgomery in time of Welsh war for 40 days.
His daughters, Isabel, aged 14 at Christmas last, whom Thomas son of William de Stuch married, and Eleanor, aged 10 at the feast of All Saints last, whom Hugh son of William de la Hull married, are his heirs.

Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Thomas de Mauneby, knight, that the escheator has hindered him from receiving 9l. 10s. yearly which he ought to receive from the manor of Hoffe of the grant of Thomas de Multon, deceased, 18 Aug. 8 Edw. II.

Hoff. The said Thomas de Multon granted the said yearly rent from the manor to Thomas de Mauneby for life for his service done to him, and he was seised thereof for two years and more before the death of the said Thomas de Multon. The manor of Hoff is held of Roger, son and heir of Sir Robert de Clyfford, deceased, by service of 9s. 2d. cornage.
