NOTTINGHAM. Inq. Saturday after St. John the Baptist, 19 Edward II.
Eton. Two parts of the manor (extent given), held, by the grant of Henry son of Roger de Bradeburn to the said Robert and Margery sometime his wife and to the heirs of their bodies, together with the reversion of the third part which Agatha mother of the same Robert, who still survives, holds in dower, of the king as of the honour of Tykhill, which is in the king’s hand, by service of two parts of 2 knights’ fees, 13s. 4d. yearly to the castle of Tykhill for ‘Wardfe,’ 10 1/2d. yearly there for a custom called ‘Waytmet,’ 3s. 4d. there for a custom called ‘Engsilver’ (?), and suit of court at the same castle.
Eton. Two messuages, 3 cottages, 28a. land, and 21 1/4d. rent, which the said Robert acquired of Richard son of Richard de Wolrington in fee, and a toft which he acquired of John son of Robert de Wolrington of Upton, held of Robert Daniel by service of 2s. 6d. yearly; and 15 selions containing 4a. land, held of the prior of Mathersey by service of 4d. yearly.
Stretton. A messuage, 30a. land, and 12a. meadow, held of the church of Suthwell by service of 33s. 4d. yearly.
His daughters, Elizabeth aged 11 and more, Eleanor aged 9 and more, Isabel aged 8 and more, and Alice aged 7 and more, are his heirs of the manor of Eton by the said grant, because they were born of the said Margery sometime his wife; but Robert his son is his next heir of his lands &c. in the towns of Eton and Stretton.

The manor (extent given), held by the grant of Hugh Barry, sometime parson of the church of Rotington, to the said James and Agnes for life with remainder to Richard their son, who still survives, and to the heirs of his body, by fine levied in the king’s court, of Thomas de Lungvillers, knight, heir of Thomas de Bekering, knight, deceased, who held of the king in chief and whose lands &c. are still in the king’s hand through his death, and of Robert de Hacthorn as of the right of Joan his wife, of Peter Foun as of the right of Margery his wife, and of John de Barkeworth, knight, as of the inheritance of Robert his son, as parceners of an inheritance in common, by service of 2 1/2 knights’ fees.
Richard de Sutton her son, aged 30 and more, is her next heir.

LANCASTER. Inq. Saturday after St. Gregory the Pope, 19 Edward II.
Broghton. A messuage, 50a. arable, a horse-mill, a windmill, a little close called Fernihalgh, and 26s. 6d. rents from 47a. arable and 3a. meadow, held of Adam son and heir of William Banastre, knight, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by homage and fealty, and service of a rose yearly.
Frekilton. A messuage, 12a. land and a windmill held of the said Adam by homage and fealty, and service of 1/64 knight’s fee, rendering 2d. yearly for the guard of the castle of Lancaster.
Warton. A capital messuage, 6 bovates of land, a fourth part of a fishery in the Ribil, and 16d. rent, held of Robert de Coigners, knight, by fealty, and service of a pair of white gloves, and 1/24 knight’s fee, and rendering 4 1/2d. yearly for ‘sake’ and 10 1/2d. for the guard of the castle of Lancaster.
Great Plumton. Fealty and service of a rose yearly to be received of Nicholas de Marisco for a fourth part of the town, which he holds for life.
Thomas his son, aged 25, is his next heir.

683. LECIA, LATE THE WIFE OF RALPH DE RUGEMOND.
Writ of certiorari to Henry Lescrop, Richard de Bernyngham, and others, on the petition of the said Lecia showing that she procured a writ dated 10 November, 14 Edward II, concerning certain messuages, lands, and rent in Holm by Pikhale against John de Thornton, chaplain, and Adam le Clerk of St. Leonards, York, who enfeoffed John de Harcla thereof, who subsequently enfeoffed Andrew his brother; and she recovered against the said John de Thornton &c. but could not obtain seisin because the same were then in the king’s hand by reason of the forfeiture of the said Andrew; and the said Lecia has petitioned the king to do according to law, 8 December, 19 Edward II.
Writ of plenius certiorari to Richard de Bernyngham and others, on the petition of Richard de Rugemond, chaplain, son and heir of the said Lecia, showing that she died pending the above business, and praying for remedy, 26 February, 19 Edward II.
Writ of venire facias to the sheriff of York to provide jurors, 26 February, 19 Edward II.
YORK. Inq. Wednesday before St. Barnabas, 19 Edward II.
Holm by Pykhale. Four messuages, 2 tofts, 15 bovates of land, 4a. meadow, and 10s. 11d. rent, held of Robert Coigners, knight, by knight’s service. The said Lecia procured a writ as abovesaid concerning the said lands &c. before the justices of the Bench, and pending the plea the abovesaid John de Thornton &c. enfeoffed John de Harcla in 15 Edward II, who immediately enfeoffed Andrew his brother, who held the same until his death, by whose forfeiture the same came to the king’s hand. The said Lecia recovered seisin but could not obtain those tenements because they were in the king’s hand, and she never quit claimed the same.
She died on Monday before Christmas day last. The said Richard, aged 40, is her next heir.
Writ to William de Bereford to send to the king the records of the suit abovesaid, 12 March, 17 Edward II.

Haveresham. The manor (full extent given), held jointly with Maud his wife, by fine levied in the king’s court, of the king in chief as of the honour of Peverell by service of a knight’s fee of the little fee of Mortain.
Hardmed. A capital messuage, 200a. land, 8a. meadow, a pasture, 10a. wood &c. held jointly by the said John and Maud of Richard de Wyndesore in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
Little Lynford. The manor (extent given), held, by the demise of Thomas de Hautville who mortgaged the same to the said John for a certain sum of money which he ought to have paid at the feast of St. Michael last, before which day the said John died, viz.—on Monday after St. Matthew, of Joan de Botetourt in chief by service of 10s. yearly.

Langeford. The manor (extent given), and the advowson of the church, held for life by the grant of William his son by fine levied in the king’s court, of the said William the younger and his heirs by service of a rose yearly, and doing the services due to the chief lords of the fee; the manor is held of the king in chief as of the honour of Dovere by service of 5s. yearly at the castle of Dovere.
William, son of William de Boyton the younger deceased, aged 10, is his next heir.
Writ of plenius certiorari, to enquire whether the manor of Langeford is held of the king by service of 5s. only or otherwise &c. Osbert de Boyton having asserted that he was seised of the manor long before the death of the said William the elder, and praying for justice, 7 March, 19 Edward II.

Langeforde. The manor is held of the heirs of Philip de Heveningham by service of 6s. 8d. yearly, and they hold it of the honour of Dover by the same service. William de Boytone the elder was not seised of the manor on the day of his death, for Osbert his son, was seised thereof for three years and more before, by his enfeoffment for his own life, and afterwards he quit claimed to the said Osbert all his right therein and bound himself (and) his heirs to warrant the same. And thus the said Osbert is seised of the manor.
