Duddingherst. The manor held for life of the gift of Robert de Veer, earl of Oxford, his father.
Dounham. The manor held without any deduction (retenumento) at the will of the said earl.
The said Thomas, long before his death, re-enfeoffed the said earl of the aforesaid manors. He held nothing in the county in his demesne as of fee or otherwise.

North Gevildale. A messuage and 4 bovates of land (extent given), held in dower, of the inheritance of the heir of the said Richard who is under age and in the king’s wardship, of the king in chief, by service of a twentieth part of a grand serjeanty, the whole of which serjeanty is held of the king in chief, by service of finding a crossbowman in the castle of York, at his own charges, for forty days, if there shall be war in the county of York. She held no other lands or tenements for the term of her life, of the said inheritance.

204. ROBERT DE MUCHELDEVRE.
Writ of amotus, 26 February, 3 Edward III.
WILTS. Inq. taken at New Salisbury, 1 April, 3 Edward III.
He held no lands or tenements in fee &c. in the county. But while he was with Hugh le Despenser, the younger, after the banishment lately deoreed against the said Hugh in the parliament of King Edward II, by the maintenance and power of the said Hugh and by his oppression, the said Robert violently ejected Henry Burry from a messuage, 3 virgates of land, 8a. meadow, and 17s. rent in Laverkestoke; whereof there are held of the king in chief, a messuage and 1 virgate of land, by service of finding a foot forester for keeping the king’s forest of Claryndon, and 2 virgates of land, the meadow, and rent, are held of Margaret de Wodefold, by service of 50s. 8d. yearly. For the aforesaid Henry Burry was of the faction (querela) of Thomas, late earl of Lancaster, for prosecuting the aforesaid Hugh le Despenser; and so the said Robert entered upon the said lands &c. and retained them until the sheriff of Wilts, restored the said Henry by the king’s writ, to hold them as before, as was ordained and agreed in the parliament at the king’s coronation. The said Robert, in like circumstances, ejected John de Farlegh from a message and 107a. land in Putton and Farlegh, which are held of Thomas Cosyn by service of 7s. 2d. yearly; to which the said sheriff similarly restored the said John. The said Robert also, in like circumstances, ejected Thomas Cosyn from a messuage, 90a. land, 1a. meadow, and 20a. wood in Putton, which are held of the abbess of St. Mary’s, Winchester, by service of 100s. yearly; to which the said sheriff similarly restored the said Thomas. The said Robert also, in like circumstances, ejected John de Lucy of Farlegh from 40a. wood in Farlegh, which are held of John de Wynterbourne, by service of 1/2lb. of pepper; to which the said sheriff similarly restored the said John de Lucy.
If the said Robert de Mucheldevere held any other lands or tenements in fee in other counties than Wilts, then John, son of the said Robert and Alice his wife, aged 15 years, is his next heir.

Devon, and the manor of Trevelowen and the advowson of the church of Jacobistowe, co. Cornwall; whereby the said Walter and Peter granted and restored the aforesaid manors, tenements and advowsons to the said Henry to hold as follows:—the said manor of Trevelowen of the king and his heirs, as of the honour of Tremeton, and all the other manors, tenements and advowsons, of the chief lords of that fee, by the services pertaining to them, for the lifetime of the said Henry, with remainder to William his son, and to the heirs of his body, and further remainder to the right heirs of the said William; and, for this grant, the said Henry gave to the said Walter and Peter 100 marks.

A messuage, 80a. land and 35s. 2d. yearly rent held, of the enfeoffment of Richard Malemeyns of Berkynge and Edith his wife, by fine levied in the court of King Edward II, for his life, with remainder to John, parson of the church of Erdyngton, Adam son of Katherine de Sancto Albano, and Nicholas brother of said Adam, and the heirs of the said Nicholas for ever. The aforesaid tenements are held of Ralph de la Chekiere, lord of Adyngton by Mallynge, by service of rendering yearly half a mark, and doing suit at the said Ralph’s court at Adyngton every three weeks; which Ralph defends those tenements against the king, as of the honour of the castle of Rochester; and they are charged yearly in five marks, to be paid to a certain heir who is under age and in the king’s wardship; which (marks) the king’s escheator received from the said Richard de Gloucestre, whilst he lived. There was sometime a partition between two sisters, names unknown, of a certain inheritance, and because the pourparty of that sister to whom all the aforesaid tenements remained exceeded the value of the pourparty of the other sister by five marks yearly, the said tenements remained charged with the said five marks yearly; and so by reason of the minority of the heir of that other sister, name likewise unknown, the said rent still remains in the king’s hand.

Estwyke or Wyke. A messuage and a virgate of land, held of Isabella queen of England, as of the forest of Savernake, by serjeanty, and by service of rendering 13s. yearly at Michaelmas at the castle of Marleberge, and of guarding a moiety of that part of the said forest which is called ‘La Westbaillye’ receiving ‘housboute’ and ‘heybote’ from the steward of the said forest, which premises the said William sometime acquired in fee from William de Boueclyve by the king’s licence, whereof he has a charter; a messuage and a virgate of land, held of the said queen as of the said forest by service of rendering 13s., as above, and guarding the other moiety of the said part of the said forest, receiving as above-mentioned; and a messuage and 93a. arable, rents &c.
