A moiety of the manor, a moiety of a croft called Milncroft, a toft called Dundrayghtoft, five and a half bovates of land, a windmill, and 12d. rent from a toft and a bovate of land in the hand of Stephen Levenyth, held of the king in chief, as of the honour of Albemarle; and 6d. yearly rent from a toft and a bovate of land in the hand of Alan Levenyth, 1d. rent from a toft in the hand of Laurence de Humbleton, and 1d. rent from a toft and a bovate of land in the hand of William in le Croft, held in form abovesaid. All held by knight’s service, whereof 48 carucates make a knight’s fee, and by suit at the wapentake of Holdernesse every three weeks. Danthorp. 	Derteforde and Cranstede. 46l. 6s. 3d. yearly rent from divers tenants, held of the king in chief, in gavelkind, according to the custom of Kent. King Edward I, gave to William de Grandissono and Sibyl his wife and their heirs the aforesaid rent, in exchange for the manors of Idenne and Ihamme, co. Sussex, to hold of the said king and his heirs, service unknown. Peter his son, aged 40 years and more, is his next heir.

The manor, held for her life of the said William by Agnes, late the wife of John de Northwode, daughter of the said William and Sibyl, of the grant of the said William and Sibyl, rendering to them and the heirs of the said Sibyl a rose yearly, which fee and the reversion of the said manor the said William held by the courtesy of England, after the death of the said Sibyl, by reason of offspring between them, of the king by barony, as of the barony of Ewyas which John Tregoz in his lifetime held of the king in chief, which barony, after the death of the said John Tregoz, descended to the said Sibyl, as his daughter and one of his heirs, and to John la Warre, his kinsman and other heir. He held no other lands &c. in his demesne as of fee in the county. Peter, son of the said William and Sibyl, aged 40 years and more, is their next heir.

	Mandate under the privy seal to the archbishop of Canterbury, the king’s chancellor, 10 July, 9 Edward III. Whereas, at the request of William de Mountagu, he has granted respite of homage to Peter, son and heir of the said William de Grauntson, until the king’s return from Scotland, the king commands him by letters under the great seal to cause the said Peter to have livery of his lands without delay, and without any distress on account of his homage (French).

	Mandate from the commissioners to the sheriff of Northumberland to have jurymen ready at Newcastle upon Tyne, on Thursday after the Epiphany, to inquire into the value of the lands and tenements which belonged to the said earl in Merdesfen, co. Northumberland, Monday after the Epiphany, 9 Edward III.

	Merdesfen. A garden, held of the said earl by Robert de la Vale, to him and his heirs, rendering 1d. yearly; another garden, held of the said earl by Nicholas son of John Scot, to him and his heirs, rendering 1d. yearly; and 24 tofts and 496a. land, held of the king in chief, service unspecified. He had no other lands or tenements in the said town.
NORTHUMBERLAND.	Inq. Monday after …………… 10 Edward III. (defective.)
	Ponteland, Little Eland, Calverdoun, and [M]erdesfen. Two parts of the manor with its members (extents given), held of the king in chief by knight’s service, which the said earl, two years before [his death], granted to John de Denton for five years next following, after which term the said two parts were to revert to the said earl and his heirs; and the said John was seised of the said two parts, on the day of the earl’s death, by charter and the king’s licence; and the king by his charter granted to the said John all the said lands and tenements, until the lawful age of the earl’s heir. Mitford. The castle with its member the hamlet of Mollisdoun (extent given), including a rent called ‘Hekemale’ and the farm of the borough of Mitford, held of the king, by the service aforesaid, and by rendering to him yearly at the castle of Newcastle upon Tyne 31s. 4d. for cornage; which castle and hamlet the said earl, two years before his death, granted to Thomas Gray, knight, for five years then next following, with reversion to himself and his heirs; and the said Thomas was seised of the said castle and hamlet by charter and the king’s licence. David his son, aged 2 years, is his next heir.

A messuage and half a carucate of land (extent given), held for life of the king in chief, by service of finding two parts of a light horseman (hobelarii) in the king’s war in Wales, for forty days at his own charges. Excete by Seford. 9a. pasture, held for life of John de Seintcler, by service of a rose yearly. The reversion of the aforesaid lands and tenements after the death of the said Nigel, pertains to Joan the wife of William Bonet, aged 26 years and more, by the grant of William Jolif. Applesham in Coumbes. The manor (extent given), held, to him and the heirs of his body, of John de Moubray, by service of two knights’ fees; the reversion whereof belongs to Richard de Coumbes, aged 40 years and more, by a fine levied in the king’s court, because the said Nigel died without heir of his body; and 15a. arable and 11a. marsh, held for life of John de Moubray, as parcel of the said manor; the reversion whereof belongs to Joan, daughter of John atte Chaumbre, aged 11 years and more, by a fine levied in the king’s court.

	Holebourn in the suburb of London. A messuage, which sometime was of Henry de Laci, sometime earl of Lincoln, held of the king in chief, without any service. The king gave the said messuage to the said Ebulo and Alesia his wife and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of the said Ebulo for ever. Roger Lestraunge, knight, aged 40 years, is his next heir.

[BRECKNOCK.]	Buelt. He held nothing of the king in chief in South Wales, except the castle of Buelt with the cantred, which the king sometime gave to Alesia de Lacy, countess of Lincoln, late the wife of the said Ebulo, to hold of the king for her life without any service.

	Eggeswere. The manor (extent given), with the hamlet of Kyngesbury, and the manor of Colham (extent given), including a fishery, two parks, and the tolls of the fair at Woxebrygge, with the hamlet of Woxebrygge, held, together with Alesia his wife who still survives, to them and the heirs of their bodies, by the king’s grant, with remainder to the right heirs of the said Ebulo. The manor of Eggeswere, with the hamlet of Kyngesbury, is held of the king in chief, as parcel of the earldom of Salisbury, by service of half a knight’s fee; and the manor of Colham, with the hamlet of Woxebrygge, is held of old time (ex antiquo) of the earl of Cornwall, as of the honour of Walyngford, by service of a knight’s fee. Roger, son of John Lestraunge, aged 40 years and more, is kinsman and next heir of the said Ebulo.
WILTS.	Inq. 10 November, 9 Edward III.
	Great Ambresbury. A messuage, three carucates of land, rent, &c. (extent given), of which he was enfeoffed jointly with Alesia his wife, who still survives, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo for ever, by the gift of Sir John Sefoul, knight, and John de Wadenho, held of the earl of Warrenne in socage, as of the earldom of Salisbury. Roger Lestraunge, his kinsman, aged 40 years and more, is his next heir.

	Burcestre and Mudelynton. The manors (extents given), held by the enfeoffment of King Edward II, to the said Ebulo and Alesia his wife and the heirs of the said Ebulo; whereof the manor of Burcestre is held of the earl of Cornwall, by service of a knight’s fee, and the manor of Mudelynton is held of the earl of Cornwall in chief, by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee. BUCKINGHAM.	Inq. 22 October, 9 Edward III.
	Holemere. A toft, lands and rent (extent given), and two water-mills in Denham, held with Alesia his wife, who still survives, of the gift of John Sefoul, knight, and John de Wadenho, who enfeoffed them thereof to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo for ever, of the king in chief by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee. Westbury and Radclive. Two messuages, lands and rent (extent given), held jointly with Alesia his wife, who still survives, of the gift of Sir John de Aula Nova, who enfeoffed them thereof. Westbury. A messuage and lands, held jointly with the aforesaid Alesia of the gift of Ralph de Sancto Lucio, who enfeoffed them thereof to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo for ever. All held of the earl of Cornwall, as of the honour of St. Valery, for a knight’s fee, rendering yearly to the earl for the same 8 marks. Heir as above.

	Salfleteby. A capital messuage, lands, rent, &c. (extent given), were held by Alesia de Lacy, countess of Lincoln, at the time when Ebulo Lestraunge espoused her, for her life, of the gift of King Edward II; and afterwards, for the good service of the said Ebulo, the present king granted the same to the said Ebulo and Alesia, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo, of the king and his heirs, together with the knights’ fees and advowsons of churches; and thus they held them until the death of the said Ebulo, and not otherwise. They are held of the king in chief, by knight’s service, but for how much is unknown. And there are rents payable thereout, viz.—to the earl of Richmond, 14s. 8d.; to Sir Thomas de Multon of Frampton, 16s. 0 1/2d.; to William de Skidbrok, 4s. 6d.; to the prior of Alingham, 2s. 6d.; to the abbot of Louth Park, 12d.; and to Master Henry de Eynesham, 10l. yearly, granted by Henry de Lacy, late earl of Lincoln. 	Scarthow. A lordship and 20l. yearly rent were similarly held by the said Alesia for her life, of the gift of King Edward II; and afterwards, for the good service of the said Ebulo, the present king granted the same to him and the said Alesia, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo, of the king and his heirs, together with the knights’ fees and advowsons of churches; and thus they held them until the death of the said Ebulo. They are held of the king in chief by knight’s service, but for what parcel is unknown. Heir as above.
LINCOLN.	Inq. Thursday after St. Denis, 9 Edward III.
	Lincoln. The custody and ward (custodian et wardam) of the castle, with the bail (ballio) there, and 20l. yearly rent for the third penny of the county of Lincoln, was held by the said Alesia as aforesaid, for her life, of the gift of King Edward II; and afterwards, for the good service of the said Ebulo, the present king gave the same to the said Ebulo and Alesia, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo, of the king and his heirs, together with the knights’ fees and advowsons of churches; and thus they held them until the death of the said Ebulo. They are held of the king in chief by knight’s service, but for how much is unknown. There is a court of tenants in the bail there, together with certain profits which are called ‘aletol’ and ‘wyndowtol.’ Heir as above.
LINCOLN.	Inq. Thursday after St. Denis, 9 Edward III.
	Segbrok. The manor (extent given), held jointly by the said Ebulo and Alesia, to them and the heirs of their bodies with remainder to the right heirs of the said Ebulo, by a fine levied in the king’s court, 5 Edward IIl, between the said Ebulo and Alesia, plaintiffs, and John Sefoul and John de Wadenhow, deforciants. The manor is held of the earl of Cornwall, as of the honour of Eye, now in the said earl’s hands, service unknown. Heir as above.
LINCOLN.	Inq. Saturday before St. Michael, 9 Edward III.
	Horbling. The manor (extent given), including rents of 2s. 6d., 10s. and 5s. for the ward of the castle of Lincoln, was held for her life by the said Alesia as abovesaid of the gift of King Edward II; and afterwards for the good service of the said Ebulo, the present king granted the same to the said Ebulo and Alesia, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo, of the king and his heirs, together with the knights’ fees and advowsons of churches; and thus they held them until the death of the said Ebulo. The manor is held of the king in chief, as parcel of the earldom of Lincoln, by knight’s service, but for what parcel is unknown. And there are due to the church of Horbling 4s. for finding two wax candles before the altar of the Blessed Mary. Heir as above.
LINCOLN.	Inq., Monday after St. Michael, 9 Edward III.
	Halton. The manor, with its members, Alkebarowe, Burton, and Burtonstather (extent given), including an eighth part of the ferry of the river Trent, was held for life by Alesia de Lascy as abovesaid by the gift of King Edward II; and afterwards, for the good service of the said Ebulo, the present king granted the same to the said Ebulo and Alesia, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo, of the king and his heirs, together with the knights’ fees and advowsons of churches; and thus they have held them and not otherwise. The manor and its members are held of the king in chief by knight’s service, as parcel of the earldom of Lincoln, but for how much is unknown. Heir as above.
LINCOLN.	Inq., Tuesday after St. Denis, 9 Edward III.
	Bolyngbrok. The castle (extent given), including a plot of meadow by Stykford, called ‘Tittdroit’ (?), another by Revesby, another at ‘le Northdyk’ in Stykenaye, a pasture at Lynghow, and aid of bondmen called ‘le Stuth,’ a fair, and at Cibseye a messuage in the marsh and a plot of pasture called ‘le Fryth,’ was held for her life by the said Alesia, as abovesaid, of the gift of King Edward II; and afterwards, for the good service of the said Ebulo, the present king granted the said castle to the said Ebulo and Alesia, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo, of the king and his heirs, together with the knights’ fees and advowsons of churches; and thus they held them until the death of the said Ebulo. The said castle is held of the king in chief by knight’s service, but for how much is unknown. Heir as above.

	Wadenho. The manor (extent given), including a fishery, was held for her life by the said Alesia, as abovesaid, of the gift of King Edward II; and afterwards, for the good service of the said Ebulo, the present king granted the same to the said Ebulo and Alesia, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Ebulo, of the king and his heirs, together with the knights’ fees and advowsons of churches; and thus they held them and not otherwise. The said manor, before it came into the king’s hands, in the time of the said earl of Lincoln and other tenants thereof, was held of Roger de Mortuo Mari of Wygomor and his ancestors, by service of a knight’s fee. 	Horneby. The castle and town, with the towns of ‘le Wra,’ Wennyngton, Mellyng, Tunstall, and Erghum (extents given), including a park under the castle, and another called ‘le colt parke,’ held of Henry, earl of Lancaster, as of the honour of Lancaster, by knight’s service. Cawode. A close. All held of the said earl by homage and fealty. Robert de Nevill, his kinsman, aged 22 years, is his next heir.
	Writ to the treasurer and barons of the exchequer, commanding them to examine the rolls of the exchequer and certify the true value of the lands &c. which the said John held by the king’s grant in Chelereye, co. Berks, Phillippeston, co. Dorset, and Claverleye, co. Salop; and, if the same cannot be found there, then to cause the lands &c. to be extended.
	Endorsed:—Enrolled in the term of St. Hilary, in the year 10, roll 2. The rolls and memoranda of your exchequer having been examined concerning the contents of this writ, we have found that the lands &c. which were of John Mautravers in Chelreye, co. Berks, are extended at 29l. 5s. 3 1/2d. yearly, and that the manor of Claverle with three small farms, co. Salop, is extended at 23l. 7s. 0 3/4d. yearly; but concerning the lands &c. in Phelipeston, co. Dorset, there has not been found any several extent or valor in your exchequer.
