WORCESTER.	Inq. taken at Worcester, Saturday after St. Denis, 22 Edward III.
	He had no lands &c. in the county. He died on Saturday the morrow of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist. John his son, aged 1 year and more, is his heir.

	St. Edmund’s. Three burgages and 1a. meadow held in burgage of the abbot of St. Edmund’s, rendering to him 2d. yearly.
[NORFOLK.]	Tybenham. 50s. yearly rent, tenure not specified. He held no other lands &c. in cos. Norfolk and Suffolk. Date of death and heir John de Hastynges as above.

STAFFORD.	Inq. taken at Tamworth, Tuesday after St. Matthew, [22 Edward III].
	Wygynton. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by homage. Tamworth. 100s. yearly rent from a moiety of the town, which moiety is parcel of the said manor of Wygynton. He died on 28 August last. Heir as above, aged 1 year on the feast of St. John the Baptist last.

LINCOLN.	Inq. taken at Lincoln, Monday before St. Michael, 22 Edward III.
	Donyngton, Golkesby and Beltesford. 69s. 10d. rent of divers tenants who held in bondage 13 tofts and 13 1/2 bovates of land. Wadyngton. Five marks rent from divers tenants by ancient tenure. Tenures not stated. He held no other lands &c. in cos. Lincoln and Rutland. He died on 29 August, 22 Edward III. Heir as above, aged 1 year and half a quarter of a year.

BEDFORD.	Inq. taken at Bedeford, Thursday after St. Matthew, 22 Edward III.
	Kempston. A third part of the manor (extent given), including a fishery and 58s. 6d. aid at Michaelmas, held of the king in chief as of the honour of Huntyngdon by service of a sixth part of a knight’s fee. He held no other lands &c. in the bailiwick. He died on Friday the feast of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist last. Heir as above, aged 1 year and more.

SURREY.	Inq. taken at Dorking, 11 October, 22 Edward III.
	Westcote. Two parts of the manor (extent given), held of the king in chief as of the honour of Laigle, service not known. He held no other lands &c. nor had any knights’ fees or advowsons of churches in the county. He died on 31 August last. Heir as above, aged 1 year on 3 September last.

	Brampton. The manor (full extent given), including a fishery in common, held of the king in chief by service of two knights’ fees. He died on Friday the feast of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist last. Heir as above, aged 1 year and more.

MIDDLESEX.	Inq. taken at Totenham, 6 October, 22 Edward III.
	Totenham. A third part of the manor (extent given), including a third part of a water-mill with the fishery of the stream, held of his inheritance of the king in chief by service of a third part of a knight’s fee. He died on Saturday the morrow of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist last. Heir as last above.
ESSEX.	Inq. taken at Hanyngfeld, 9 October, 22 Edward III.
	Esthanyngfeld. The manor (full extent given), with certain tenements in Westhanyngfeld held of the king in chief as parcel of the barony of Mounchensy; and charged with 3s. 1/2d. yearly to the master of Cressyng, 2s. yearly to the prior of Bekenacre and 1lb. pepper yearly to Stephen de Bassyngbourn; also to Roger de Bradeleye for his life 6 1/2qrs. of wheat yearly, viz. a bushel a week, a robe suitable for his condition (unam robam competentem pour gentz de mestier) and 6s. 8d. for his shoe-leather (calciatura) in keeping the park and warren of the said manor; and he shall have for his life by grant of the said earl all the wood blown down in his bailiwick. He died on 30 August last. Heir as last above.
HERTFORD.	Inq. (fn. 1) taken at Stansted, 10 October, 22 Edward III.
	Stanstede. 6l. 13s. 4d. yearly rent from the abbot of Waltham from his manor of Stanstede, service not specified. He held no other lands &c. in the county. He died on 30 August last. Heir as last above.

LEICESTER.	Inq. made at Burbache, 19 September, 22 Edward III.
	Nayleston. The manor (extent given) held of the prior of Coventry by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee. Long before his death the said Laurence granted to Agnes de Merinton of Coventry 20l. yearly from the said manor for a term of eight years, whereof four have elapsed, but the yearly value of manor does not amount to that sum. He held no other lands &c. in the county. Date of death as first above. Heir as above, aged 1 year and more at the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Mary last.
WARWICK.	Inq. taken at Aston Cantelow, 21 September, 22 Edward III.
	Aston Cantelo alias Cantelew. A third part of the manor (extent given), including a custom called ‘Scorynge,’ held of the king in chief, by service of finding a footman with a bow without a string, with a bolt (bosuno) without a head (cappa), for forty days at his own charges as often as there shall be war in Wales. Filungley. 10l. yearly rent sec, tenure not stated. Pilardynton. A carucate of land which is let to farm for 40s. yearly, tenure not stated. Chelmescote. 53s. 4d. yearly rent, tenure not stated. He held no other lands &c. in the county. Date of death and heir as last above.

SOMERSET.	Inq. taken at Berewyk, Thursday after St. Calixtus, 22 Edward III.
	Odecombe. 51s. yearly rent held of the king in chief by knight’s service. Berewyk. The manor (extent given) with the borough of Stouford held of the king by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee. Mulverton. An eighth part of the manor (extent given), including an eighth part of a custom called Tolcestres, with an eighth part of the advowson of the church, held of Thomas de Berkelee by service of rendering a rose yearly. Date of death not known because he died outside the bailiwick. Heir not known because he has no heir begotten of him or in any other manner born in the said bailiwick.

NORTHAMPTON.	Inq. taken at Northampton, Saturday after the Exaltation of the Cross, 22 Edward III.
	Yerdele Hastynges. The manor (extent given), including pastures on ‘le Wald’ and Pottereshalewe and at Raveneston Rode, perquisites of the courts of the hundreds of Wymersle and Aunfordesho worth 12l. yearly, those of the court of Barton worth 20s., those of the court of Yerdele Hastynges with the views there worth 100s., and toll of the market, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. The earl charged the manor with 4l. 11[s.] to Robert Wyard for his wages, taking 3d. a day, 11qrs. 3bus. of oats for the provender of his horse, taking day and night 1 ‘pekke,’ price 20d. a qr. this year, 20s. for his robe and hay and litter for his horse, value 30s. 4d., granted yearly for the life of the said Robert. He also charged the said manor with 6qrs. 4bus. of wheat to Simon Stedman yearly for his life, taking 1 bushel a week and a robe price half a mark. Wotton. A messuage &c. 100a. arable, 8a. meadow, 4a. pasture, 2a. meadow in Madecroft, a windmill, 40s. rent of free tenants, 22 bondmen, each holding a messuage and a virgate of land, and pleas &c. of court, held of John de Wodhull, knight, in chief by service of 22d. yearly. Northampton. A messuage and a dovecot. He died on Saturday next after the Decollation of St. John the Baptist last. Heir as above, aged 1 year and 1 month.

	Southleverton. A culture containing 1 1/2a. 1/2r. and a toft. Stretton. 1a. land and 1/2a. meadow. Whetelei. A toft measuring 100 feet by 4 feet. Wyston. A toft not built upon, 3a. land and 1/2r. meadow. Wiston, Clareworth Wodhouse, Southbek, Whetelay, Stretton, Littelburgh, Cotum, Fenton, Southleverton, Wellum, Morehous and Clareburgh. 34l. rent of free tenants. (Unspecified) 2 1/2 marks profits of court. All held of the king in chief, service not known. He held no other lands &c. in the county. He died on 31 August last. Heir as above, aged 1 year and more.

KENT.	Inq. taken at Sutton Valence, Wednesday after the Exaltation of the Cross, 22 Edward III.
	Sutton Valence. The manor (extent given), including a park, 9d. rent called ‘Romescot,’ 78s. 1/2d. rent from the borough of Sutton, a water-mill leased to Thomas Parker and his heirs, paying yearly 6qrs. 4bus. of corn called ‘Tolcorn,’ 21s. 5 1/2d. for a custom called ‘Gavelerth,’ 19s. 2 1/4d. for a custom called ‘Bederip,’ 21s. 10d. for a custom called ‘Averagium,’ and 7s. 8 3/4d. for a custom called ‘Mowengselver,’ held of the king in chief by service of two knights’ fees. Estsutton. The manor (extent given), including 3s. 3d. from ‘Gavelerth’ and 19 1/2d. from ‘Mowengselver,’ held of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee. Sutton atte Hone. A tenement called Sautters held of divers lords in gavelkind (per servicium consuetudinis gavelkindorum). He used also to receive yearly of Sir William de Clinton, earl of Huntyndon, 20l. for certain tenements which he demised to the said William for his life, viz. 100s. for tenements in the manor of Preston, 10l. for tenements in Demechirche in the marsh of Romenal, and 100s. for lands in the manor of Wotringbury. PEMBROKE.	Extent of the whole county of Pembroke made before the said escheator at Pembroke on Thursday the feast of St. Michael in Monte Tumba, 22 Edward III.
	Pembroke. The county wherein is the town of Pembroke with the castle (extent given), including 215 burgages, rents from Torre and Carswill, and from Eleanor Symond for lands at Kyngesdon, a fair at the feast of SS. Peter and Paul lasting three days, a market, toll of horses in the barony of Taren (sic) and in Castlemartin, 12d. rent of the glebe of Ruscruther, and rents from those not lying in the town of Pembroke at Christmas. Kyngeswode, Gondon and Borinsford. Rents from a messuage and a carucate of land in Kingeswode, 8 bovates of land at Gondon, land at Borinsford, and certain land held by Philip Daniell, 5a. meadow and a ferry called Pembrokeffery. Coytrath. The commote (extent given), including a profit called ‘Vyrgavyl’ in a wood and a plot of land called Stanborgh. Tenebie [or Tyneby]. The town (extent given) with the castle. Castlemartin. The manor (extent given), including 100a. marsh, 40d. from the ploughing and reaping of Lony, 18d. rent from Angle (de Angulo) for reaping, 6s. 8d. from the mill of Froyn, and 18s. 4d. rent from land called Borgh. Rents and ward of the castle of Pembroke. There are also in the county rents from divers free tenants, who hold by knight’s service and socage, and pleas and perquisites of the county-court of the castlegate. All held of the king in chief as of the crown. He held nothing in the county of any other lord. He died at Bergeveny on Saturday the morrow of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 22 Edward III. HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. taken at Bergeveny on Tuesday after St. Luke, 22 Edward III (defective).
	Bergeveny. The lordship (extent given) held of the king in chief, service not known, including a castle, a manor called Engliston whereof the houses are ruinous, a fishery with weir and nets, a garden below the fish-pond (stagnum vivar’), a hill pasture, mills called Kybismulle and Maynde, a fulling-mill, 18l. 7s. 8d. rent of free tenants of the great court in the bedelry, a farm of 10l., which the master-serjeant (magister serviens) used to pay yearly, which farm the said earl about the feast of the Epiphany before his death remitted to Thomas ap Robard, his nephew, the master-serjeant, for the Michaelmas next following, and 20s. yearly rendered by the bedel of the country (patrie) for his bedelry. A corn-mill, 6l. 8s. 7 3/4d. rent of freemen and bondmen, 1qr. oats, 35 hens, works and perquisites of court. Kyllytha. A moiety of a corn-mill, 109s. 1d. rent of freemen and bondmen, 1qr. oats, 25 hens and perquisites of court. Bloreis. A corn-mill, a fulling-mill, 76s. 2 3/4d. rent, 40s. yearly from coal miners (querentium carbones) coals and 3s. perquisites of court. Culgudyn. A meadow, a fishery, a fulling[-mill], 70s. 7 1/2d. rent of freemen and bondmen, 46s. rent called … [Pellenny.] A corn-mill, 122s. 2 1/2d. rent, and perquisites of court. Maneylad. A corn-mill, 17s. 10d. rent and 6s. 8d. rent called ‘Commorth.’ Cregrieu. … rent, a forest called Moyluannou … and two corn-mills on the hills. He held no other lands &c. in the said March. 	Writ of plenius certiorari to the escheator in co. Hereford. Because the king is given to understand that the said earl held more lands, &c. in co. Hereford and the adjacent march than were contained in the inquisitions returned into chancery, the escheator is commanded to make enquiry in the presence of Nicholas de Bokelond and Thomas de Baddeby, the king’s clerks, or of one of them. 13 March, 23 Edward III.
	Writ to the same escheator, reciting the preceding writ and commanding him, if the said Nicholas and Thomas come not to the taking of the said inquisition, to proceed with all haste therein in the presence of Thomas Hakelut, the king’s clerk, and to take into the king’s hand such lands as he shall find the said earl died seised of, 24 March, 23 Edward III.

	The said earl, besides the lands &c. otherwise returned into the chancery, held the following:— Penros. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by knight’s service as parcel of the lordship of Bergeveney. Tresgair. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by knight’s service. Hentles. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by knight’s service as parcel of the lordship aforesaid. Tresgoythel. A messuage and 169a. arable, worth nothing at present on account of the murrain (morine), and now only 3s. rent for the same reason, similarly held. Bryngwyn. The manor (extent given) with the advowson of the church, similarly held. Coytmorgan. The manor (extent given), similarly held. Werneryth. A park with deer containing 80a., similarly held. Lanwytheryn. A messuage, two parts of a mill, 20a. pasture, rents formerly 4l. 4s. and now 52s. only, and 2s. customary works similarly held. Lannover. Rents, three parts of the mill of Ogran and two other mills, similarly held. Ebwythvaur. A rent, formerly 6l. 13s. 4d. but now only 53s. 4d. and 12a. great wood, similarly held. Ebwythvaghan. A rent, formerly 7l. but now only 60s., and 10a. great wood, similarly held. In each of the above entries in this inquisition the value is greatly decreased on account of the murrain. The prior and convent of Bergevenny and their predecessors have time out of mind received and their successors ought to receive a yearly rent of ten marks from the pleas and perquisites of the whole of the lordship of Bergevenny.

HEREFORD AND THE MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. taken at Ros by the escheator in the presence of Robert de Hadham, escheator of the king’s chamber, on Wednesday after St. Lucy, 25 Edward III.
	The earl held the castle and lordship of Bergeveny and other manors of the king in chief, of the crown, by barony and by his charter granted to William de Hastynges, knight, and his heirs the following manors with the knights’ fees and advowsons, which are parcel of the said lordship, viz. the manors of Penros, Tregayr, Henthles, Bryngwyn, Coitmorgan, Lannevor, Eboth Vaur, Eboth Vaughan, Tregoithel, Lanwetheryn and Werneurthrek, whereof said William died seised without heir of his body; and he was a bastard. The said William died on 9 March, 23 Edward III, from which day John Haklut and Agnes his wife have occupied the said manors and received the issues &c. The said manors at the time of the gift aforesaid were worth 120l. yearly, but what they are worth now the jurors know not on account of the pestilence.
	Writ of privy seal to the same escheator, reciting the above inquisition which Robert de Hadham has shown to the king, and commanding him to bring the said inquisition into the king’s chamber without delay; 26 December, 25 Edward III. (French.)

	Writ to the escheator in co. Hereford &c. Whereas it was found by an inquisition that Lawrence de Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, was seised of the castle, lordship and borough of Bergeveny and of the manors of Penros, Tresgair, Henthles, Bryngwyn, Coythmorgan, Lannovor, Tresgoythel, Lanwytheryn and Wernerith and of a rent of 8 1/2 marks in Ebwithvaur and Ebwithvaghan, and of other lands &c. in England and Wales, the king caused to be assigned to Agnes, late the wife of the said earl, the aforesaid castle, lordship [and] borough of Bergeveny, the manor of Penros and the rent of Ebwithvaur and Ebwithvaghan in dower, and the said manors of Henthles and Wernerith, in compensation of two parts of 10l. yearly, which the prior and monks of Bergeveny receive from the pleas and perquisites of court belonging to the said castle, lordship and borough by a certain ancient alms granted to them by the ancestors of the said earl, of which 10l. mention was not made in the extent of the said castle &c. returned into chancery after the said earl’s death; and afterwards, because the said manors of Penros, Henthles and Wernerith and the said rent of Ebwithvaur and Ebwithvaghan, by the name of the manors of Ebwithvaur and Ebwithvaghan, by reason of another inquisition taken by the said escheator ex officio [Wednesday after St. Lucy, 25 Edward III, see above] were taken into the king’s hand as an escheat, the king commanded that the said manors of Penros, Henthles and Wernerith and the said rent in Ebwithvaur and Ebwithvaghan should be restored to John Hakelut, who married the aforesaid Agnes, and to the said Agnes to hold in dower and also the value of the two parts of the aforesaid 10l., as appears by inspection of the rolls of the chancery; because it has been testified before the king that the manors &c. so assigned to the said Agnes exceed in value the other manors of Tresgair, Bryngwyn, Coithmorgan, Lannovor, Tresgoythel and Lanwitheryn, which remain in the king’s hand over and above the dower and compensation aforesaid, and so it appears that the king has been deceived in the said assignment &c.; the escheator is commanded to inquire into the value of the manors &c. assigned in dower and compensation, except the castle, lordship and borough of Bergeveny, and of all the other manors &c. remaining in the king’s hand, delaying meanwhile the execution of the other mandate of the king, if not already executed, touching the restoration of the manors &c. assigned to the said John and Agnes as above, 13 March, 26 Edward III. HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. taken at Wernririd, Thursday before St. George, 26 Edward III.
	Wernririd. Lawrence de Hastinges, earl of Pembroke, lately enfeoffed William de Hastinges of the manor of Wernririd and Perthiolwen, to hold for his life, with reversion to the said Lawrence and his heirs; which manor Agnes, late the wife of the said Lawrence, entered upon after his death without the king’s licence. The manor is held of the king in chief as parcel of the barony of Bergeveny.
	Writ of certiorari super vero valore to the justiciary of Ireland, to extend all the lands &c. which were of the said earl of Pembroke in Ireland, 26 November, 27 Edward III.

	Commission to John de Boulwas, Thomas de Aston, William de Chiltenham and David ap Howel, because the king has heard that John Hakelut and Agnes his wife, sometime the wife of the aforesaid earl, have more in her dower of the free holding of the said earl in the lordship of Bergeveny and elsewhere in the parts of Wales than they ought to have, commanding them to cause to be extended the castle, lordship and borough of Bergeveny and the manor of Engliston, with their members in Michael’s Town, Lancadok and Lycoyd, Capella, Killytha, Blorays [or Bloreys], Culcudye [or Culgudyn], Pellenny, Maynelad [or Mamylad] and Cregryeu, and the forestership there pertaining to the said lordship of Bergeveny and the bedelry belonging to the said castle, lordship, borough, manor and members, late of the said earl, and also the manors of Penros, Tregayr, Bryngwyn, Henthles [or Henlthles], Coitmorgan, Tregothel, Lanwetheryn, Lannevor, Wernethrek [or Werenthrek], Ebothvaur, Ebothvaghan [or Eboithvaughan] and Weredith [or Wernridith], late of William de Hastynges, knight, of the said earl’s gift, and all other lands &c. belonging to the said castle and lordship in any way, viz. how much they are now worth yearly and how much they were worth at the time of the death of the said earl and William. The sheriff of Hereford has been ordered to provide a jury. 9 December, 27 Edward III.
[MONMOUTH.]	Extent made at Bergeveny, Sunday the feast of the Epiphany, 26 (sic) Edward III.
	Bergeveny &c. The castle and borough and the other manors &c. mentioned in the writ (extents given), including the park of Lyncoid and the office of forester of the mountains, giving the values at the time of the deaths of the said earl and William de Hastings, his brother, and at the present time.
	Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the land and heir of the said earl, 24 February, 28 Edward III.
BEDFORD.	Inq. taken at Bedeford, Thursday before St. Gregory the Pope, 28 Edward III.
	Blounham. The manor with the advowson of the church held of the abbot of St. Edmund’s in chief by knight’s service. The said earl made certain charters of feoffment to one William de Hastynges, knight, and Richard atte Felde, of the said manor and advowson, but before seisin was delivered the earl died, and so died seised thereof. Kempston. A third part of the manor held of the king in chief as of the honour of Huntyngdon by service of a sixth part of a knight’s fee. He held no other lands &c. in the bailiwick. He died on Friday the feast of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 22 Edward III. Heir as above, aged 6 years and more.
	Writ of certiorari super vero valore to John de Carreu, escheator of Ireland, commanding him to extend the lands &c. late of the said earl in co. Carlow. Witness, Thomas de Rokeby, justiciary of Ireland, at Dublin, 8 June, 28 Edward III, by writ from England.
CARLOW.	Extent made at Cath(erlow), 28 July, 28 Edward III.
	Le Castelton. Five carucates of land in demesne only worth 2d. an acre yearly because among the Irish. Free tenants:— Edmund le Butiller, 2 carucates. William Stakepoll, 1 carucate. John Blunt, 1 carucate …. Robert Cadel, 1/2 carucate. The burgesses of Castelton render 30s. 1d. yearly for their burgage. Killaban. 60a. in demesne, and the burgesses of the town render 60s. yearly. Pleas of the hundreds of the said towns, 12d. Agnes, late the wife of the said earl, is dowered of all the aforesaid lands, &c.
	Writ to Henry de Prestewode, escheator in co. Hereford and the adjacent March of Wales, directing him to enquire of what liberties belonging to the earldom and lordship of Pembroke the said earl was seised and who has occupied the same since his death, 10 May, 32 Edward III.
HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. made at Pembroke, Thursday the feast of St. Petronilla, 32 Edward III.
	He was seised of the following liberties pertaining to the said earldom and lordship, viz.:— Castle Gaweyn. The suit of Guy de Bryan, knight, at the county of Pembroke for his manor of Castle Gawain, and also all pleas of free tenement and trespasses to be impleaded by writ, trespasses in which fines and ransoms are to be adjudicated without writs, pleas of debt by letters obligatory containing penalties, with writs and without writs, and all pleas of the crown within the said manor touching the said Guy and the tenants and residents there, and from everything arising within the said manor except pleas of the crown with mainour (manu opere) at the suit of the party; and the said Guy and all his tenants and the residents within the said manor were bound to assist the said earl and his ministers of the county of Pembroke, when summoned, at the county of Pembroke and at the courts of the gate of the castle of Pembroke for pleas of obligations and fresh force within the said county; and the sheriff of the county of Pembroke used twice every year, at Easter and Michaelmas, to hold his turn in whatsoever place he wished within the lordship of Castle Gaweyn, and to attach those indicted before him and take them to the castle of Pembroke, there to be judged according to the law and custom of the country, and to do the office of coroner whenever necessary within the said lordship. The earl died seised of all the foregoing in his demesne as of fee. Kemeys. The suit of James Daudeleye, knight, pertaining to the said county of Pembroke by reason of his lordship of Kemeys and the other liberties aforenamed within the same lordship, as pertaining to the said county. Carruw. The suit of John de Carruw for his lordship of Carruw and all the other liberties aforenamed, as pertaining to the said county. Manerbyr. The suit of Owen ap Oweyn for his lordship of Manerbyr and all the other liberties aforenamed, as pertaining to the said county. After the death of the said earl, Richard Talbot by the king’s commission and John Hakeluit and Agnes, countess of Pembroke, by the same commission, from the time of the said earl’s death until now have occupied all the aforesaid liberties, except that the said Guy has refused to do suit at the county, and has altogether withdrawn it, and has not permitted any plea of free tenement or of trespass to be pleaded by writ or without writ, or any plea of the crown within the said lordship touching the said Guy or his tenants or the residents in the said lordship to be pleaded or determined at Pembroke, nor the tenants or residents to assist or in any way to obey the king’s ministers or those of Richard Talbot or of John Hakeluit and Agnes, late wife of the said earl, to whom the king committed the custody of the county of Pembroke from the time of the earl’s death, but from that time has occupied and still occupies, by what title the jurors know not, all the aforesaid liberties and cognisances of pleas.
