The draught of a report to the Lords of the Committee of Council relative to grants and possessions of lands within the district lying between Hudson and Connecticut Rivers, and the disputes, disorders and confusions arising therefrom, having been transcribed pursuant to order, was signed.

Their lordships took into further consideration the reference of the petition of the Earl of Eglintoune and William Taylor and Montfort Browne, Esquires, to his Majesty, relative to the expediency of making a settlement on the Mississippi.

Their lordships made a further progress in the consideration of the petition of the Earl of Eglintoune, and William Taylor and Montfort Browne, Esquires, relative to the expediency of making a settlement on the Mississippi, and it was ordered, that the draught of a report to the Lords of the Committee of Council for Plantation Affairs thereupon should be prepared.

New York.

Read an Order of the Lords of the Committee of Council for Plantation Affairs, dated May 5th, 1772, referring to this Board, for their consideration and report, a petition of Henry Remsen and his associates, stating an irregular purchase made by them from the Indians of two tracts of land on the Mohawk River, which they now disclaim; and praying, for the reasons set forth in the said petition, that they may have a grant of the unappropriated part of the said tracts on some easy acknowledgment.

Ordered, that the above mentioned order of reference be taken into consideration after the holidays, and that the agent for the petitioners be desired to attend.

Read a letter from Thomas Hutchinson, Esquire, Governor of Massachusets Bay, to the Board, dated August 10th, 1772, transmitting,

Read a letter from Governor Hutchinson to the Board, dated October 10th, 1772, in answer to one from their lordships of the 29th of July last, relative to the draught of a clause proposed to be inserted in the Commissions to Governors of the Plantations, respecting the custody of idiots and lunaticks.

West Florida.

Read a letter from John Robinson, Esquire, Secretary to the Lords of the Treasury to the Secretary to this Board, dated November 5th, 1772, acquainting him, that their lordships have directed a part of Lieutenant Governor Browne's demands, vizt. five hundred, eighty six pounds, three shillings and seven pence, to be paid out of the monies granted by Parliament for the civil establishment of West Florida; and therefore desire him to represent the same to the Lords of trade, and move them to make provision for that sum in the next estimate to be presented to Parliament for the civil establishment of that province.

Duplicates of letters and papers received by the Earl of Dartmouth from the Governors and other officers in his Majesty's colonies and plantations in America, relative to publick proceedings in the said colonies for some time passed, were communicated to the Board, and the said letters and papers were read and ordered to be bound up under the several heads to which they belong.

The Secretary laid before the Board publick Acts and proceedings of the Legislatures of several of the colonies in America, the titles of which are as follow, vizt.
Quebec.
Copy of the minutes of Council for the province of Quebec from April 1st to June 30th, 1772.
Copy of an ordinance "for altering the first day of Michaelmas Term, etc.," passed August 24th, 1772.

Africa.

Read a letter from the Earl of Suffolk, one of his Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, to the Board, dated December 14th, 1772, transmitting several papers relative to a composition offered for the injustice done by the Dutch Governor of Elmina to the owners of a British ship called the John; and desiring their lordships to communicate the said papers to the Committee of the African Company, and to inform him, whether the composition offered is such as they think sufficient.

The Secretary was ordered to communicate the said papers to the Committee of the Company of Merchants trading to Africa, and to desire them to inform their lordships whether the composition offered is, in their opinion, sufficient.

Read a letter from the Committee of the Company of Merchants trading to Africa, dated December 18th, 1772, in answer to one from the Deputy Secretary of the 16th instant, transmitting several papers received from the Earl of Suffolk, relative to the composition offered by the Dutch Governor of Elmina to the owners of the ship John.

The draught of a letter to the Earl of Suffolk, transmitting the opinion of the African Committee contained in the aforementioned letter, was prepared, agreed to and signed.

Plantations General.

The Secretaries laid before the Board copies of two hundred and seven Orders in Council respecting transactions in his Majesty's colonies and plantations in America from 1768 to 1772 inclusive, and it was ordered, that they should be bound up under the several heads to which they belong.

Miscellanies

Their lordships were pleased, at the humble request of the Secretary, to direct, that Mr. George Pownall be admitted to the seat in the clerk's room, now held by John Lillingston Pownall, Esquire, who desires leave to resign the same.
