The report about erecting into a county the tract of land in New York, granted to Sir John Eyles and others, agreed at the last meeting, was signed.

Virginia.

House of Commons desire the representation of the Council of Virginia.

A letter from Mr. Tuder, clerk to the Committee of the House of Commons, who are to enquire into frauds and abuses in the Customs, desiring, by their order, the representation of the Council of Virginia to the Board, dated the 11th of September 1713, was read; ordered that the said representation be delivered to the said Committee.

Grievances.

A letter from the Lord Harrington, dated the 25th of January, 1732–3, referring to the Board the copy of a memorial of Mr. Robinson, His Majesty's minister at Vienna, was read, and the several papers, relating to the grievances of the British merchants in Sicily, transmitted with the said letter, were laid before the Board, viz:—

Plantations General.

The nine following copies of Orders in Council, were read.

Old seals.

Order in Council, dated the 10th of August, 1732, upon defacing in Council the old seals of the Massachusetts Bay, New Hampshire, New York, Virginia, South Carolina, Barbadoes, Leeward Islands, Bermuda and Bahamas.

Jamaica.

A Councillor appointed.

Order in Council, dated the 14th of December, 1732, appointing Henry Dawkins, Esq., a member of the Council of Jamaica.

Duties on slaves.

Order in Council, dated the 13th of October, 1732, forbidding the Governor of Jamaica to pass Acts laying duties on slaves imported there, or exported in less than twelve months after their arrival.

An Act for raising several sums of money, repealed.

Order in Council, dated the 13th of October, 1732, repealing an Act of Jamaica, for raising several sums of money and applying the same to several uses.

Devolution of government.

Order in Council, dated the 10th of August, 1732, directing the devolution of government in Jamaica to Mr. Ayscough.

Barbadoes.

Arrears due to Mr. Worseley.

Order in Council, dated the 28th of September, 1732, directing the Governor of Barbadoes to use proper and legal means to recover the arrears of additional salary due to Mr. Worseley.

Antigua.

Act.

Henry Lyons.

Order in Council, of the 28th of September, 1732, approving an Act of Antigua to enable Henry Lyons to sell certain lands.

Nova Scotia.

Waldoe's petition.

Order in Council of the 10th of August, 1732, relating to the petition of Mr. Waldoe, in behalf of himself and Elisha Cooke, etc., concerning a tract of land, wherein Colonel Dunbar has made a settlement to their prejudice.

South Carolina.

Instruction about Georgia.

Order in Council of the 28th of September, 1732, approving an instruction to the Governor of South Carolina relating to the colony of Georgia.

South Carolina.

Mr. Thorpe's petition for 9000 acres.

An Order of a Committee of Council, dated the 27th of April, 1733, referring to the Board the petition of Mr. Thorpe, for the confirmation of a grant of nine thousand acres of land in South Carolina, was read; ordered that the agent for Mr. Thorpe and Mr. Whitaker, who is lately come from that province, be desired to attend the Board upon this subject on this day fortnight.

May 16. Present:—Mr. Docminique, Mr. Bladen, Sir O. Bridgeman, Mr. Brudenell.

Maryland.

State of the province.

A letter from Mr. Janssen, dated at Annapolis in Maryland, March the 1st, 1732–3, inclosing an account of the state of that province, was read, and an answer was ordered to be made thereto.

New Hampshire.

Boundaries.

An Order of the Committee of Council, dated the 16th of April, 1733, referring to the Board the petition of John Rindge, Esq., praying a settlement here of the bounds of His Majesty's province of New Hampshire, was read, and directions were given that all parties concerned should attend the Board on Wednesday next.

Trade.

Sicily.

The Board, taking into consideration the draught of a representation, relating to the grievances of the British merchants in Sicily, ordered to be prepared the 3rd inst., made a progress therein.

Nova Scotia.

Mrs. de la Tour.

A petition from Mrs. de la Tour, touching her right to some lands in Nova Scotia, was read, as were also the following papers received with her petition:—
Copy and translation of the French king's grant of part of Nova Scotia to Chevalier de la Tour, dated in 1651, and Colonel Philipps's order to the inhabitants of Quebequil to pay their rent to Madame Broadstreet.
Arrest des Maitres des Requettes de l' Hotel, du 9me Fevrier, 1651. Autre arrest du conseil, du 26 du dit Mois, en confirmation d'iciluy.
Cessions and transports faits à la dite Agathe de la Tour.
Ordonance du Seigneur Philipps portant commandement de payer a la Dame de la Tour veuve Broadstreet ses lots and ventes dès à elle appartenants.
Four affidavits of the Reverend Mr. Cuthbert, etc., in favour of Mrs. Campbell alias la Tour, touching her right to lands in Nova Scotia.

And directions were given for sending a copy of the said petition to Colonel Philipps, Governor of Nova Scotia, for his answer thereto.

Antigua.

Plantations General.

Act, augur colonies.

Mr. Yeamans, agent for the Island of Antigua, attending, with Mr. Fleming, Lieut. General of the Leeward Islands, desired their Lordships would be pleased to send to all the Governors in America, a Copy of the Act, passed the last sessions of Parliament, for the better securing and encouraging the trade of His Majesty's sugar colonies in America, and that they would recommend to the said Governors the putting the same in due execution, which their Lordships agreeing to, directions were given for preparing the draught of a circular letter accordingly.

South Carolina.

Mr. Thorpe's petition

Mr. Thorpe, whose petition for the confirmation of a grant of some land in South Carolina was read the 8th inst., attending, as he had been desired, with Mr. Sharpe, in his behalf; and Mr. Whitaker, late Attorney General in that province, attending, at the same time, Mr. Thorpe's petition was again read; as also a letter from Mr. Thomas Lowndes, of whom Mr. Thorpe purchased the land in question, alledging that the land Mr. Thorpe claimed, was not the land he had sold him, it having been surveyed and set out for Mr. Lowndes, prior to his agreement with Mr. Thorpe, to whom he had sold 9000 acres of his land, not then admeasured or set out.

Mr. Sharpe then desiring in behalf of Mr. Thorpe that he might have a copy of Mr. Lowndes's letter, in order to make his answer thereto; orders were given accordingly, and the consideration of this affair was adjourned to another opportunity.

Mr. Whitaker was then desired to put into writing what he knew concerning this affair, and to give the Board an account of any difference there may be between the petitioner's grant, and the other grants made by the late Lords Proprietors, which he promised accordingly.

Massachusetts.

New Hampshire.

Boundaries.

Mr. Paris attending, as he had been desired, with Captain Tomlinson, in behalf of the petition from Mr. Rindge, read the 16th inst., praying that the boundaries of New Hampshire may be settled here, and Mr. Sharpe attending likewise, with Mr. Wilks, the agent for the Massachusetts Bay, Mr. Paris presented to the Board eight petitions from the inhabitants of the several counties in New Hampshire, praying that His Majesty would be pleased to determine the boundary line between New Hampshire and the Massachusetts Bay, according to the charter granted to the Massachusetts Bay.

Mr. Sharpe then, in behalf of Mr. Wilks, desired the Board would be pleased to give him copies of the several petitions, and allow them a sufficient time to prepare an answer to the same, but the Board came to no immediate resolution, intending to take these petitions into further consideration on the 25th instant.

North Carolina.

Blank warrants for grants of land.

Mr. Johnstone, appointed Governor of North Carolina, attending, the Board desired he would let them have a state of the blank warrants for grants of land, which had been granted by Sir Richard Everard, the late Governor of that province, and he promised to perfect the said state as soon as possible.

May 25. Present:—Mr. Docminique, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Ashe, Sir O. Bridgeman.

New Hampshire.

Massachusetts.

Boundaries.

The Board taking again into consideration the petition of Mr. Rindge concerning the boundaries between New Hampshire and the Massachusetts Bay, read the 23rd inst., as also the eight petitions from the inhabitants of the several counties in New Hampshire, upon the same subject, gave directions that Mr. Wilks should, according to his desire, have copies of the said several petitions, in order to send them to the Massachusetts Bay, but that he be acquainted that the Board expect an answer from that province in the beginning of November next.

New York.

Grant of land.

An Order of the Committee of Council, dated the 22nd inst., requiring the Board to prepare an additional instruction for Colonel Cosby, Governor of New York, directing him to annex the tract of land granted to Sir John Eyles and others, to some county or counties in that province, was read, and the Secretary laying before the Board the draught of an instruction accordingly, a report therewith to the Lords of the Committee was agreed and signed.
