61. [149.] THE LORDS AND COUNCIL OF IRELAND to HENRY VIII.
Regret the decease of the King's father. Kildare, who was his deputy lieutenant, was preparing to go to the King, but they have entreated him to remain until the King's mind is known, in consequence of the perilous state of the country and the malice of the Irish. As it is necessary to have a governor until the King appoints a lieutenant or deputy, have, according to ancient usage, elected Kildare justice. Divelin, 8 June.
"By your most humble and faithful subjects, the lords spiritual and temporal and council of this your land of Ireland." Seal lost.
