III. VALUE OF IMPORTS IN 1559/60 AND 1565/6

The list of imports is made up from two documents, S.P. 12/8, ff. 63–9 and Lans. 8, ff. 75–6. The first is headed 'The particular valew of certayne necessary and vnnecessarye wares brought into the Porte of London in the second year of the Quenes Majestis reigne, the ouerquantyte wherof lamentably spoylith the realme yearly'; the second, which relates to the year commencing Michaelmas 1565, is simply endorsed 'wares brought in to London'. It is a less complete list than the first, with fewer items and others left unvalued. The list below is therefore based on the State Paper. Extra items from the later memorandum and those which are not identical with the earlier are printed in italics. The original spelling has been retained except for the £. s. d. symbols which have been modernised.
