Howards & al. versus D. of Norff.
The Duke of Norff. acquainted the House, "That, by reason of his late Illness, he could not give any Answer to the Petition of his Brothers Edward Howard and Barnard Howard, and his Sister the Lady Elizabeth Macdonnell, put into this House concerning him; but will be ready to do it very suddenly."
Committees adjourned.
ORDERED, That the Committees for Deeping Fenn Bill, and concerning the Prisoners of The King's Bench and The Fleete, which should have met this Afternoon, do meet on Wednesday next, in the Afternoon.
Le Strange to see the Libels concerning the Dissolution of this Parliament, to discover the Authors.
This House being moved, "That, in order to the Discovery of the Author of a dangerous Libel now abroad, Mr. Roger le Strange (who believes that he shall be able to discover the Author of it) may have Liberty to see the Manuscripts of the Libels condemned by this House in March last, which remain sealed up in the Custody of the Clerk of the Parliaments, and are not to be seen but by Order of this House:"
It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Clerk of the Parliaments is hereby ordered and directed to shew the said Manuscript Libels unto the said Roger le Strange, in order to the Discovery of the dangerous Libel now abroad; and that any Three or more of the Lords Sub-committees for Privileges, and for Perusal of the Journal Book, be present when the Papers be perused by the said Roger le Strange; and that if he have Occasion to desire and carry any of them away with him, in order to the said Discovery, their Lordships are to take Care for the safe Return thereof to the Clerk of the Parliaments.
