PRAYERS.

Report concerning Whitebread and Micho.

Dr. Lowre and Dr. Warner gave the House this Account:

"That, according to their Lordships Order Yesterday, they have visited Whitebread and Micho; and they do find them in a very low Condition, and in Danger of their Lives if they should be removed out of their Beds."

Popish Lords Papers to be sealed up.

The House being informed, "That the Lord Bellasis having all his Papers seized by virtue of the Lord Chief Justice's Warrant, he desires that the said Papers may be sealed up in a Bag, and brought into this House."

Which was ordered.

And the like Order to be for all the Lords who are apprehended by virtue of the Warrant from the Lord Chief Justice.

Papers about Examinations taken in Ireland brought in; and about Talbot's Commitment there.

The Lord Chancellor acquainted the House, "That the Duke of Ormond, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, being informed of the dangerous Design here against the Person of His Majesty and His Government, hath secured the Person of Peter Talbot in Ireland, and hath issued out a Proclamation against Priests and Jesuits, and hath taken Examinations in the Business, which his Lordship hath transmitted to His Majesty, who is ready to communicate the same to this House, by One of the Clerks of the Council, who attends at the Door."

And accordingly Sir Phillip Lloyd was called in, and, at the Bar, delivered the said Examinations.

King to be moved, for Coleman's Papers to be sent to H. C.

The Lord Bishop of Rochester reported, "That the Committee for perusing of Papers for Discovery of the horrid Design against His Majesty's Person are of Opinion, That His Majesty may be moved, that such Letters of Mr. Coleman's as the Committee have read, and sealed up by themselves, may be transmitted to the House of Commons speedily."

Agreed, That these Papers be taken immediately out of the Bag, and delivered to His Majesty by the Lord Bishop of Rochester.

Committee to examine Coleman & al. in Newgate, about the Plot.

His Lordship further reported, "That the Committee are of Opinion, That Mr. Coleman, a Prisoner in Newgate, may be speedily examined."

And, upon Consideration hereof, the House named these Lords, to be Committees, appointed to go immediately and examine Mr. Coleman, and such other Prisoners as are now committed to Newgate for Treason; and to use all Encouragement to them for further Discovery; and make Report to the House:

Thompson's House to be searched, and Papers, &c. seized.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod do send One or more of his Officers, with William Sorocold, to search the House of James Thompson; and to seize such Papers and Writings as they shall find there, and bring them before this House; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To Sir Edward Carteret, and to all Mayors, Sheriffs, Bailiffs, Constables, and other His Majesty's Officers, to be aiding and assisting in the Execution thereof.

Thompson committed.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That James Thompson be and shall stand committed to the Prison of The Gatchouse at Westminster, for dangerous Words by him uttered, there to remain during the Pleasure of this House; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To the Keeper of The Prison of The Gatehouse at Westm. his Under Officers, and every of them.

Report when the King will be attended:

The Lord Treasurer gave the House an Account, "That he hath attended His Majesty, to know His Pleasure, what Time He will appoint both Houses to wait on Him, to present the Address for Removal of Papists from London and Westm.; and His Majesty hath appointed this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall, for that Purpose."

Message to H. C. to acquaint them.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Tymothy Baldwin and Sir William Beversham:

To acquaint them, that the King hath appointed this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall, to receive the Address of both Houses, for Removal of the Papists from London and Westminster.

L. Petre committed to The Tower.

The Lord Petre, being in the House, took Notice, "That he heard of a Warrant issued out against him by the Lord Chief Justice of England; and he desired to know the Cause of it."

Hereupon the House directed the Lord Chancellor to acquaint his Lordship what Account the Lord Chief Justice gave the House Yesterday, and upon what Grounds he issued out his Warrant for apprehending him and several other Lords, for High Treason.

His Lordship withdrew himself; and the House made these Orders following:

"ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House do forthwith take the Lord Petre into his Custody, and carry him in Safety to The Tower of London, for Treason wherewith he is charged, there to remain till he shall be discharged by due Course of Law; and this to be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

"To Sir Edward Carteret, Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House, his Deputy and Deputies."

"ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Constable of His Majesty's Tower of London, or his Deputy, do receive the Body of the Lord Petre, for Treason wherewith he is charged, and keep him in safe Custody within the said Tower, till he shall be discharged by due Course of Law; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

"To the Constable of His Majesty's Tower of London, his Deputy and Deputies, and every of them."

Preservation of the King's Person.

ORDERED, That this House do fit this Afternoon; and the House be put into a Committee, to consider what Advice is fit to be given His Majesty for the better Preservation of his Person.

Restraining and examining Peers, to be considered.

ORDERED, That on Monday next this House will take into Consideration the Way, according to the Course of Parliament, of arresting and restraining a Peer of the Realm, sitting the Parliament; and of taking Examinations against him, in Cases of High Treason; and of the Proceedings to be had against such Peer.

Adjourn.

PRAYERS.

Thompson's Papers to be seized and examined.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Persons who have seized and given to this House an Account of some of the Papers of James Thompson be, and are hereby, authorized and required to take a File of Musqueteers with them, and seize and carry to the Lord Bishop of London such Books and printed Papers as are in the House or Chambers of the said James Thompson, to be disposed of as his Lordship shall think fit; and that they likewise seal up such Trunks as are in the said James Thompson's Study or Chambers, and bring them to this House; and that such Persons as pretend to have any Concern therein, may be present with the Clerk of the Parliaments at the opening thereof, and examining the Papers in any of them contained.

Address to the King, for Preservation of His Person.

The House was adjourned into a Committee during Pleasure, to consider what Advice is fit to be given His Majesty, for the better Preservation of His Person.

The House was resumed.

The Earl of Bridgwater reported shortly the Heads which were proposed in the Committee.

To which the House Agreed, and made the ensuing Order:

"ORDERED, That the Duke of Monmouth, Lord Chamberlain of His Majesty's Household, Earl of Bridgwater, Earl of Clarendon, Earl Essex, Earl Bath, Vicecomes Newport, Lord Bishop of Rochester, Lord Maynard, and Lord Butler of Moore Parks, or any Three of them, are hereby appointed a Committee, to prepare an Address to be presented to His Majesty, in order to His taking Care for the Preservation of His Majesty's Person, according to the Heads agreed on in this House, and make Report thereof unto this House with all convenient Speed."

Lords Committees appointed to go immediately and examine Mr. Coleman, and such other Prisoners as are now committed to Newgate for Treason; and to use all Encouragement to them for further Discovery, and make Report to the House:
