Lords take the Oaths.

This Day these Lords following took the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, and made and subscribed the Declaration, in Pursuance of the Act for the more effectual preserving the King's Person and Government, by disabling Papists from sitting in either House of Parliament:

William Lord Bishop of Bristol.

Thomas Lord Morley.

Bill to clear London, &c. of Papists.

The House was put into a Committee, to consider of the Bill for freeing the City of London and Parts adjacent from Popish Inhabitants, and providing against other Dangers which may arise from Papists.

The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Hallyfax reported, "That the Bill for freeing the City of London and Parts adjacent from Popish Inhabitants was read over at the Committee; and desired that the House would appoint another Time for the Consideration of that Bill."

And the House appointed To-morrow Morning to consider of it, in a Committee of the whole House.

Report concerning the Plot.

The Earl of Clarendon reported several Matters from the Committee for examining the Discovery of the late horrible Plot and Conspiracy:

"1. That the Committee have had before them one Francisco de Feria, a Stranger, who hath made a material Discovery of the Plot, for which he is in Danger of his Life: The Committee are of Opinion, That the House be moved, that some Course may be taken to secure him from Danger; and that he may relate to this House what he had discovered to the Committee.

"2. That Mr. Hetherington and other Persons desire that they may have an Order for bringing over certain Persons out of Ireland, who can speak materially to the Discovery of the Plot.

"3. That the Committee taking Notice, that the Council having sent for Oliver Plunket out of Ireland, and he being not yet come; their Lordships are of Opinion, That the House be moved, to desire His Majesty, that he may be safely brought over, with all Expedition."

De Feria examined about it.

Touching the First Part; the House resolved to hear what Francisco De Feria could say.

Who, being called in, was sworn upon the Book of Deuterenomy, in regard he was a Jow born; and after he was sworn, did acknowledge that he had taken a lawful Oath.

After he had made a large Narrative, he was directed, for the better Method and more Certainty of what he said, to put the same in Writing.

Touching the 2 Part; the House made the Order following; (videlicct,)

Hetherington & al. to bring over Irish Evidence.

It appearing to this House, that Thomas Hetherington, Owen Murphy, William Fitzgerald, and John Moyer, having very material Witnesses to produce, in Evidence and Proof of the late horrid Plot and Conspiracy; which Witnesses are now in Ireland, and pretend that they cannot with Safety appear here to give in their Evidence: It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Thomas Hetherington, Owen Murphy, William Fitzgerald, and John Moyer, be, and are hereby, required to take effectual Care for the securing and safe conducting hither the said Persons, to the End they may with all Freedom and Safety declare, at the Bar of this House, what they know concerning the said Conspiracy: And it is further ORDERED, That all Sheriffs, Justices of the Peace, Mayors, Bailiffs, Constables, and other His Majesty's Officers, be, and are hereby, required to be aiding and assisting in the bringing in Safety hither such Persons as the said Thomas Hetherington, and the others abovenamed shall have Occasion to produce as Witnesses here; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf."

Concerning the 3 Part, the ensuing Order was made:

Address for bringing over Plunket.

"ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords with White Staves do attend His Majesty, humbly to desire Him from this House, That His Majesty will be pleased to give Order for hastening the safe bringing over of Oliver Plunket, Titular Primate of Armagh, out of Ireland, into this Kingdom, and to this House, in order to his Trial here."

Address for an Allowance for De Feria;

Whereas Francisco de Feria hath, upon his Oath, difcovered to the House of Lords Matters of very high Consequence; the Discovery whereof may in all Probability very much endanger his Person:

For the better Security of the said Francisco, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, do humbly pray His Majesty, "That He would be graciously pleased to give unto the said Francisco such convenient Weekly Allowance, for some Time, as may enable him to maintain himself with Two Servants about him for his Defence and Safeguard;" and that the Lords with White Staves do present this Address to His Majesty.

and for continuing Oates's Allowance.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords who present the Address to His Majesty, concerning Francisea de Faria, do intimate to His Majesty the humble Desire of this House, "That His Majesty will be pleased to continue his former Allowance to Master Titus Oates."

Mary Seyer and the Portuguees to appear.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mrs. Mary Seyer, and the Portuguees mentioned this Day in the Narrative made by Francisco de Faria at the Bar, be, and are hereby, required to attend this House To-morrow Morning, at Ten of the Clock; and hereof they may not fail.
