Duties on Houses, to make good Deficiencies of clipped Money, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty several Rates or Duties upon Houses, for making good the Deficiency of the clipped Money."

Message from H. C. to return the Bill to prevent Abuses of Returning Officers at Elections, and the Bill for Improvement of a House in Great Queen Street.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Henry Hobart and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the further regulating Elections of Members to serve in Parliament; and for the preventing irregular Proceedings of Sheriffs and other Officers, in the electing and returning such Members;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the Lords Amendments, with an Amendment, whereunto they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Which Amendment, being read Twice, was agreed to; and ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice thereof.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Sloane and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Improvement of a House and Ground in Great Queen Street;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Which Amendments, being read Twice, were agreed to; and ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice thereof.

Seamen, for Increase and Encouragement of, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Increase and Encouragement of Seamen."

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Manchester reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress in the Bill; and desire another Time may be appointed, for them to proceed."

Officers, not Seafaring Men, to be excepted out of the Register.

ORDERED, That the Commissioners of the Navy do draw a Proviso, to be added to the Bill, to except such Officers out of the Register, who are not properly Seafaring-men, and attend with it To-morrow; at which Time the House will further proceed in a Committee upon the said Bill.
