E. Peterborough versus L. Mary Mordant and Sir John Jermaine.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Charles Earl of Peterborow and Monmouth, Grandson and Heir Male of John late Earl of Peterborow, deceased, from an Order or Decree of Dismission, made in the Court of Chancery the Sixteenth Day of this Instant December, on the Behalf of the Lady Mary Mordant and Sir John Jermaine her Husband; and praying Relief, touching the Matters in the said Appeal complained of; and that they may answer thereunto:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Lady Mary Mordant and Sir John Jermaine may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and they are hereby required to put in their Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Saturday the Second Day of January next, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon.

D. of Beaufort's Bill.

The Earl of Rochester reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act for settling divers Manors, Lands, and Hereditaments, the Estate of Henry Duke of Beaufort, according to Agreements made upon his Marriage, and for other Purposes in the said Act mentioned," as fit to pass, with several Amendments and Clauses.

Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments and Clauses.

Trustees of Ireland deliver Estimate of Estates given in Relief.

Mr. Baggs and Mr. Trenchard, Two of the Trustees for Sale of the forfeited Estates in Ireland, attending, were called in; and, at the Bar, delivered, "An Estimate or Account to what Value the Forfeitures in Ireland will be lessened, by reason of the Bills and Clauses passed the last Session of Parliament;" and then withdrew.

Escapes out of Prisons, Bill to prevent.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing Escapes out of The Queen's Bench and Fleet Prisons."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday Sevennight; and all the Lords summoned to attend.

Ireland's divorce Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Brett and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for making Provision for the Younger Children of Jonathan Castelman, of Coubertly, in the County of Gloucester, Esquire; and for supplying an Omission in his Father's Will, of a Power for making Leases;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, to robe.

After some Time, the Queen being come, the House was resumed.

Queen present:

Her Majesty, being seated on Her Royal Throne, adorned with Her Crown and Regal Ornaments, attended with Her Officers of State (the Peers being also in their Robes), commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to signify to the House of Commons, "That it is Her Majesty's Pleasure, they attend Her presently, in the House of Peers."

Who being come; their Speaker made a short Speech to Her Majesty, in relation to the Bill for granting a Land Tax.

Then the Clerk of the Parliaments received the said Bill from the Hands of the Speaker, and brought it to the Table; where the Clerk of the Crown read the Title of that and the Two other Bills; (videlicet,)

Bills passed.

"1. An Act for granting to Her Majesty a Land Tax, for carrying on the War against France and Spain."

To this Bill the Clerk of the Parliaments pronounced the Royal Assent, in these Words:

"La Reine remercie ses bons Subjects, accepte leur Benevolence, et ainsi le veult."

"2. An Act for rectifying a Mistake in a late Act, intituled, An Act to enable Sir Robert Marsham, Knight and Baronet, to dispose of Lands in Hertfordshire; and to settle other Lands, of better Value, in Kent, to the same Uses as the Lands in Hertfordshire are settled."

"3. An Act for Sale of Part of the Estate late of William Peachy Esquire deceased, for Payment of Legacies charged thereupon."

To these Two Bills the Clerk of the Parliaments pronounced the Royal Assent, severally, in these Words,

"Soit fait come il est desiré."

Adjourn.
