Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Sir Humphry Mackworth and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the further and better Relief, Employment, and Maintenance of the Poor;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Humberstone's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Mathew Humberston; shewing, "That the ancient Parish-church of Humberston, in the County of Lincolne, is ruinous, and the Roof and Walls fallen down, and so unfit for Public Worship, and has been in Decay above Forty Years; that the repairing the same will cost above Three Thousand Pounds, which the Parishioners are not able to raise; and the Petitioner holds by Lease for Lives, under the Bishop of Lincolne, the Rectory and Tithes of Part of the said Parish, at Fifteen Pounds Six Shillings and Eight Pence, as in the Petition is set forth: That, if the Petitioner may have the Rectory, and Tithes, and Advowson, settled on him and his Heirs, he is willing to re-build the Church, and to settle a Rent-charge of Fifteen Pounds Six Shillings and Eight Pence per Annum, for ever, free from Taxes, out of a Farm and Lands worth Thirty Pounds per Annum;" and praying, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, for settling the same:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Lord Chief Justice of Her Majesty's Court of Queen's Bench and the Lord Chief Justice of Her Majesty's Court of Common Pleas; who are forthwith to summon all Parties that are to be concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition.

Potts' Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for Sale of Part of the Estate of William Potts, for discharging his Brothers and Sisters Portions, and his Debts; and for confirming his Marriage Settlement, as to the Residue of his Estate, discharged of such Portions and Debts."

Upon the First Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of Part of the Estate of William Potts, for discharging his Brothers and Sisters Portions, and his Debts; and for confirming his Marriage Settlement, as to the Residue of his Estate, discharged of such Portions and Debts:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Bill shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Baron Smith and Mr. Justice Dormer; who are forthwith to summon all Parties that are to be concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands.

Darrell's Report delivered.

The Lord Keeper acquainted the House, "That Mr. Justice Powis and Mr. Justice Blencowe were ready to make their Report to this House, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of some Part of the Estate of Henry Darrell Esquire, deceased, and leasing or mortgaging other Part thereof, to raise Money, to pay his Debts charged thereupon, and for making Provision for his Widow and Younger Children, when the House will please to receive the same."

Which Report being delivered; it was agreed, and Ordered, That the same shall be read on Monday next, at Eleven a Clock.

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. King and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for rendering more effectual an Act passed in the First Year of Her Majesty's Reign, intituled, An Act for the better preventing Escapes out of The Queen's Bench and Floet Prisons;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Escapes out of Queen's Bench Fleet Prisons, Bill.

Articles of Union between England and Scotland.

The Order of the Eleventh Instant, for taking into Consideration the Articles of Union agreed on by the Commissioners of England and Scotland, and the Act passed in Scotland ratifying and approving the Treaty of Union, being read:

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Articles, and the Act for ratifying the said Treaty of Union, as also the Minutes of the Proceedings of the Commissioners for the Union of the Kingdoms of England and Scotland, shall be, and they are hereby, referred to the Committee of the whole House.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee thereupon.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Bishop of Salisbury reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress in the said Articles; and commanded him to move the House, to appoint another Time, to be put into a Committee again, to proceed further thereupon."

Ordered, That on Wednesday the Nineteenth Day of this Instant February, at Twelve a Clock, this House shall be put into a Committee, to proceed further in the Consideration of the said Articles, and the said Act ratifying and approving the said Treaty; and that all the Lords be summoned then to attend, and also the Judges; and that the Cause appointed to be heard that Day be put off to Thursday, and the other Causes to come on in Course.

Adjourn.
