Lords take the Oaths.

The Lords following took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes; (videlicet,)

Muirheid versus Muirheid.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Rose Muirheid, from a Sentence or Decree of the Lords of Council and Session in North Britain, on the Behalf of James Muirheid, the Eleventh of July 1707, in a Cause between the said Parties; and praying, "That the said Sentence or Decree may be repealed, reversed, and discharged; and that the said James Muirheid may answer to the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said James Muirheid may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and he is hereby required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Thursday the Seven and Twentieth Day of January next, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon.

Gay & al. Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Winifred Gay Widow, and others; shewing, "That, the last Session of the last Parliament, they had a Bill depending in this House, which was referred to Mr. Baron Price and Mr. Justice Dormer; and, upon Consideration of their Report, the Bill was read the First Time;" and praying, "That they may may have Liberty to bring in the same again:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to the said Mr. Baron Price and Mr. Justice Dormer; who are to review their Report, and state the Case as it now stands, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands.

Doleman versus Smith.

The House being moved, on the Behalf of Sir Thomas Doleman, Respondent to the Appeal of Richard Smith Esquire, "That a short Day may be appointed, for hearing of the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on the Third Day of the Sitting of this House after Christmas.

Woolmere versus Markes.

Whereas Saturday next was appointed for hearing of the Appeal of Charles Woolmere and John Simpson, presented to this House the Thirteenth of March last, to which Richard Markes is Respondent:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on the Second Day of the Sitting of this House after Christmas.

State of the Debts of the Navy, &c.

The House being informed, "That Mr. Fawler, from the Admiralty, attended;" he was called in; and, at the Bar, presented Two several Papers, pursuant to the Order of this House of the Eighth Instant:

The Titles whereof were read; (videlicet,)

"Navy-office, 1st November, 1708.

1. "An Estimate of the Debt of Her Majesty's Navy, on the Heads therein mentioned, as it stood on the 30th September 1708."

2. "An Accompt of Monies received by Sir Thomas Littleton, Treasurer for Her Majesty's Navy, since the Commencement of the War to 30th September 1708, on the Heads therein mentioned."

Ordered, That the said Papers do lie on the Table, to be perused by the Lords.

Method of Proceedings on Petitions of Marq. of Annandale & al. relating to Election of Scots Peers.

The House having, pursuant to the Order of the Fourteenth Instant, taken into Consideration the Method of proceeding on the Petitions and Representations of William Marquis of Annandale, John Earl of Sutherland, Patrick Earl of Marchmont, and William Lord Ross:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Matters relating to the said Petitions and Representations shall be proceeded on, and determined, in this House; and that no Proxies shall be made Use of on this Occasion.

Adjourn.
