E. of Leven's Commission, as Governor of Edinburgh Castle, to be laid before the House.

Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Scotch Secretaries do cause to be laid before this House, To-morrow, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon, a Copy of Her Majesty's Commission to the Right Honourable the Earl of Leven, to be Governor of Edinburgh Castle in Scotland.

Sir J. Gray versus D. Hamilton & al.

The House being informed, "That the Duke of Hamilton, and the Earl of Silkirk, and Captain Gawn, were, by Order of this House, to put in their Answer to Sir James Gray's Appeal this Day; and that the Earl of Silkirk is on the Road from Scotland; and that Sir James Gray desires they may have a further Day, for answering to his Appeal:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Duke of Ha milton, the Earl of Silkirk, and Captain Gawen, have hereby Time allowed them, for answering thereunto, until Monday the Seventh Day of February next, at Eleven a Clock.

Upon reading the Petition of Peter Hiot and others; praying Leave to be added to a Bill of Naturalization now depending in this House:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners may be added to the Bill of Naturalization, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

Ly. Russell versus Ly. Falkland and Lytton.

Upon reading the Petition of Dame Anne Russell Widow; shewing, "That she hath an Appeal depending in this House, to which Rebecca Viscountess Dowager Falkland and Lytton Lytton Esquire are Respondents;" and praying, "That William Dixon, of Lincolne's Inne, Gentleman, may be allowed of and taken as Security, to answer Costs for the Petitioner, in case Judgement shall be given against her:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said William Dixon may enter into a Recognizance for the Petitioner, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

Vise. Falkland versus Ly. Russell and Lytton.

Upon reading the Petition of Rebecca Viscountess Dowager Falkland; shewing, "That she hath an Appeal depending in this House, to which Dame Anne Russell and Lytton Lytton are Respondents;" and praying, "That John Gaine, of the Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields, Gentleman, may be allowed of and taken as Security for Costs, for the Petitioner, in case Judgement be given against her:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said John Gaine may enter into a Recognizance for the Petitioner, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

Cochran & al. to attend, about the Election of the Scots Peers.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Wm. Cochran of Ochiltrec, William Cochran of Fergushe, Mr. Allan Glen Schoolmaster of Paisley, . . . . Lord Balmerino, . . . . Lord Yester, and . . . . Lady Yester, do attend this House, Tomorrow, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon; and hereof they may not fail, as the contrary will be answered to this House.

Land Forces, &c. for recruiting, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the speedy and effectual recruiting Her Majesty's Land Forces and Marines, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Nine."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, presently.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the said Bill.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Rochford reported, "That the Committee of the whole House had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the speedy and effectual recruiting Her Majesty's Land Forces and Marines, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Nine."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That the Commons have Notice, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Holford and Mr. Pitt:

To desire them to give Leave to Sir Samuel Macclellan, Mr. Dugall Stewart, and Mr. Cockran Kilmarnock, to attend the House of Lords To-morrow, at Eleven a Clock, to give their Testimony in relation to the Election of the Sixteen Peers of Scotland, returned to serve in this present Parliament.

Adjourn.
