Message from H. C. to return Tregagle's Bill, with Amendments:

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bulteel and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of the Estate of John Tregagle Esquire, deceased, lying in the Counties of Devon and Cornwal, for Payment of Debts, and making Provision for his Children;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Then the Amendments were read, and agreed to.

Amendments agreed to.

And a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Lovebond and Mr. Holford, to acquaint them therewith.

Messages from H. C. to return Kirchhoff's Nat. Bill; and Wynne's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Clayton and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Christian William Kirchhoff;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Serjeant Richardson and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to make Partition of the Manor of Cottingham, alias Cottingham Sarum, in the County of York, between Richard Wynne Esquire and Sarab his Wife, and John Barrington Esquire;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with One Amendment, to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Then the Amendment was read, and agreed to; and Ordered, That the Commons have Notice thereof.

Naminck & al. Nat. Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of Bernard Naminck and others; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, in order to their Naturalization:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

Officers, &c. to be added to Nat. Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of several Officers and Soldiers, that have served Her Majesty during the late War, whose Names are subscribed; praying, "That they may be added to the Bill now depending before this House, in order to their Naturalization:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners may be added to the Bill, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

Duty on Books, to take off, Bill:

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for taking away the new additional Duty of Thirty Pounds per Centum ad Valorem, imposed upon all Books and Prints imported into Great Britain by an Act made in the Tenth Year of the Reign of Her present Majesty Queen Ann."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill; and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for taking away the new additional Duty of Thirty Pounds per Centum ad Valorem, imposed upon all Books and Prints imported into Great Britain by an Act made in the Tenth Year of the Reign of Her present Majesty Queen Ann."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for taking away Mortuaries, within the Dioceses of Bangor, Landaff, St. David's, and St. Asaph, and giving a Recompence therefor to the Bishops of the said respective Dioceses; and for confirming several Letters Patents granted by Her Majesty, for perpetually annexing a Prebend of Gloucester to the Mastership of Pembroke College in Oxford, and a Prebend of Rochester to the Provostship of Oriel College in Oxford, and a Prebend of Norwich to the Mastership of Catherine Hall in Cambridge;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with One Amendment, to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Then the Amendment was read, and agreed to; and Ordered, That the Commons be acquainted therewith.

Schism, to prevent the Growth of, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to prevent the Growth of Schism; and for the further Security of the Church of England as by Law established."

Then it being proposed, "That the Bill be read a Second Time;"

And Debate thereupon:

The Question was put, "Whether the said Bill shall be read a Second Time?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That the said Bill be read a Second Time on Monday next; and all the Lords to be summoned.

Dissenters Pet. against it:

A Petition of several of Her Majesty's Subjects, being Protestants dissenting from the Church of England, in Behalf of themselves and other Protestant Dissenters, was presented to the House, and read; praying "Leave to represent their Case to this House; and that the Bill to prevent the Growth of Schism, and for the further Security of the Church of England as by Law established may not be passed into an Act, until the Petitioners be heard by their Counsel, or in such Manner as to this House shall seem meet."

And it being proposed, "That the Petition be rejected;"

And Debate relating thereunto:

Rejected.

The Question was put, "Whether the said Petition shall be rejected?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
