Evans & Ux. versus Jackson.

Upon reading the Petition of John Jackson, Respondent to the Appeal of John Evans and Mary his Wife; praying, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the same:"

It is Ordered, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Wednesday the Twenty-fourth Day of this Instant August, at Eleven a Clock.

E. of Abingdon's Privilege, Report concerning:

The Lord Delawar reported from the Lords Committees for Privileges, to whom the Matter of the Com plaint of the Earl of Abingdon, of a Breach of Privilege, was referred: "That they had considered the Matter of the said Complaint; and heard Counsel and Witnesses on Behalf of Richard Vernon, upon his Petition; and also heard Counsel and Witnesses for the said Earl; and were come to the Two following Resolutions; (videlicet,)

"That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That the said Richard Vernon, a Solicitor, is guilty of a Breach of the Earl of Abingdon's Privilege, and the Privilege of this House.

"That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Thomas Dale is likewise guilty of a Breach of the said Earl's Privilege, and the Privilege of this House."

Then the First of the said Resolutions, being read by the Clerk, was agreed to by the House.

And the other Resolution being also read:

Ordered, That the same be re-committed to the said Committee for Privileges, in order to summon the said Dale, and to inquire what Concern he hath had in relation to the Matter of the said Complaint; and report their further Opinion thereupon to the House.

Vernon recommitted.

Ordered, That the said Richard Vernon be, for the said Breach of Privilege, re-committed to the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Secretary Stanhope and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Attainder of James Duke of Ormonde of High Treason, unless he shall render himself to Justice by a Day certain, therein mentioned;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Visc. Boling broke, Attainder, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the Attainder of Henry Viscount Bolingbroke of High Treason, unless he shall render himself to Justice by a Day certain therein mentioned."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House To-morrow.

D. of Ormond's Attainder, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the Attainder of James Duke of Ormonde of High Treason, unless he shall render himself to Justice by a Day certain therein mentioned."

Ordered, That the said Bill be read a Second Time To-morrow; and that all the Lords be summoned to attend at the Second Reading thereof.

Militia more versus, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for making the Militia of that Part of Great Britain called England more useful; and for obliging an Annual Accompt to be made of Trophy-money.

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Thursday next.

Abuses in Elections, to prevent, Bill.

Whereas this Day was appointed, for the Second Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual preventing the Abuses of Sheriffs and other Returning Officers, in not returning the Writs of Summons in due Time; and for preventing Bribery and Corruption in the Elections of Members to serve in Parliament:"

It is Ordered, That the said Bill be read a Second Time on Saturday next.

Fish Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing fresh Fish taken by Foreigners being imported into this Kingdom; and for the Preservation of the Fry of Fish; and for the giving Leave to import Lobsters and Turbots in Foreign Bottoms; and for the better Preservation of Salmon within several Rivers in this Kingdom."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same."

Ordered, That the said Report be received on Friday next.

Adjourn.
