Offley's Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, or Lord High Treasurer, for the Time being, to compound with Mr. John Offley, for the Debt he stands engaged for to the Crown, for the Duties on Tobacco."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill; and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. London and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of Part of the Estate late of Joseph Thurston Esquire, deceased, lying in the Counties of Suffolk and Essex, for Payment of his Debts, and making Provision for his Infant Children;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Cornwall's Bill:

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Erle and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the exonerating and discharging the Manors, Lands, and Hereditaments, of Francis Cornwall Esquire, and likewise the said Francis Cornwall, of and from certain Articles of Agreement, made before the Marriage of the said Francis Cornwall;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Richard Earl of Burlington to make Leases of a Piece of Ground behind Burlington House;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Lady Shovell versus Lord Cheney and Moore.

After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of Dame Elizabeth Shovell, Widow and Executrix of Sir John Norborough Knight, and John Hill Esquire, deceased, Henry Husey Esquire and Elizabeth his Wife, Executrix of Isaac Foxcroft Esquire deceased, and Ann Nicholson, Widow and Executrix of Francis Nicholson Esquire, deceased; complaining of a Decree made by the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, on the 20th of May 1715; and also of an Order made by his Lordship, the 9th of November 1716, on arguing Exceptions to the Master's Report, in a Cause wherein Arthur Moore Esquire was Plaintiff, and the Appellants and the Right Honourable Will'm Lord Cheney, surviving Executor of Christopher late Duke of Albemarle, and others, were Defendants; and praying, "That the said Decree and Order, on arguing the said Exceptions, may be reversed and set aside, so far as the same relate to the said Moor's pretended stated Accompt and Interest; and likewise, that the said Decree may be reversed and set aside, so far as the same relates to the Executors of the said Duke of Albemarle, whereby they are exempted from being obliged to pay any Thing towards the said Moor's Demands upon the said Accompt, than what they were charged with the Payment of by the former Decree; and that the Lord Cheney, surviving Executor of the said Duke, may be decreed to pay the said Duke's Share and Proportion of the Costs of the Suit, and of what shall be reported due to the said Mr. Moore for Interest; and that the Petitioners may have such other Relief as this House shall think fit:" As also upon the several Answers of the said Lord Cheney and Arthur Moore put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration of what was offered in this Cause:

Judgement affirmed, with Costs.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the said Decree and Order therein complained of be, and are hereby, affirmed: And it is further Ordered, That the Appellants do pay, or cause to be paid, to the Respondent Mr. Moor, the Sum of Thirty-five Pounds, for his Costs of this Appeal; and that they do likewise pay, or cause to be paid, to the other Respondent, the Lord Cheney, the Sum of Fifteen Pounds, for his Costs of the said Appeal.

Forfeited Estates, Bill.

Ordered, That the Bill relating to the Sale of the forfeited Estates, which was appointed to be read the First Time this Day, be read the First Time To-morrow; and nothing to intervene; and the Lords to be summoned.

Tunbridge Road, Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Highways leading from The Stones End of Kent Street, in the Parish of St. George's Southwark, in the County of Surrey, to The Lime Kilns in East Greenwich, near Blackheath, and to Lewisham Church, being the Tunbridge Road, in the County of Kent."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Raw-Silk, Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual an Act, made in the Eighth Year of the Reign of the late Queen, intituled; An Act for employing the Manufactures, by encouraging the Consumption of Raw Silks and Mohair Yarn."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Messages to H. C. that the Lords have agreed to the Two last Bills.

And Messages were severally sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Hiccocks and Mr. Fellows:

To acquaint them, that the Lords have agreed to the Two last mentioned Bills, without any Amendment.
