Certificate of the Earl of Morton's Election to be One of the Sixteen Peers.
This Day the Deputy Clerk of the Crown in Chancery delivered a Certificate of the Name of the Peer of Scotland, who, by virtue of His Majesty's Proclamation, is chosen to fit and vote in this House, in the Room of the Earl of Findlater and Seafield, deceased; which is as follows:
"May it please your Lordships,
"We do hereby certify, that, by virtue of His Majesty's Proclamation of the Seventeenth of September One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty, a Certificate under the Hands and Seals of Mr. William Hall and Mr. John Murray, Clerks of Session attending the Election aftermentioned, in virtue of the Lord Register's Commission to them granted, has been delivered into the Crown-office in Chancery; whereby it appears, that George Earl of Mortoune was unanimously elected and chosen to sit and vote in the House of Peers in this present Parliament, in the room of James Earl of Findlater and Seafield, deceased.
"Given under our Hands, this Fourth Day of December 1730.

The Lord Chancellor acquainted the House, "That His Majesty had been pleased to cause a Commission to be issued under the Great Seal, for the further proroguing of the Parliament."
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, for the Lords Commissioners to put on their Robes.
The House was resumed.
Then Three of the Lords Commissioners (in their Robes) being seated on a Form placed between the Throne and the Woolsack; the Lord Chancellor in the Middle; with the Lord Privy Seal on his Right Hand; and the Duke of Dorset on his Left; commanded the Deputy Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to let the Commons know, "That the Lords Commissioners desire their immediate Attendance in this House, to hear the Commission read."
