The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. that the Lords have agreed to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Thurston and Mr. Spicer:

To acquaint them, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Cornewall and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting certain Lands and Hereditaments, Part of the settled Estate of Sir Philip Boteler Baronet, in the several Counties of Bedford and Kent, in the said Sir Philip Boteler and his Heirs; and for settling other Estates, in the several Counties of Kent and Hereford, of greater Value, to the like Uses, in Lieu thereof;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Hobbes's Bill;

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Lowndes and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of the Freehold and Copyhold Estates of Rodolph Hobbes Gentleman, deceased, in the County of Bucks, for discharging the Encumbrances affecting the same; and for making Provision for his Widow and Infant Children;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

and Sir R. Sutton's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Plumptree and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for rectifying a Mistake in a Settlement made by Sir Robert Sutton Knight of the Bath, and also in an Act passed the last Session of Parliament, for Sale of the settled Estate of the said Sir Robert Sutton, in the County of Nottingham, for discharging Encumbrances;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the said Bill, with One Amendment, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

The Amendments to both the said Bills, being severally read Thrice, were agreed to.

And Messages were severally ordered to be sent to the House of Commons, by the former Messengers, to acquaint them therewith.

Sinking Fund, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Fane and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty the Sum of Eight Hundred Thousand Pounds, out of the Sinking Fund; and for granting a Sum remaining in the Exchequer, arisen by the Surplus of the Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder, and Perry, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-five; and for the further appropriating the Supplies granted in this Session of Parliament; and for giving further Time for the Payment of Duties omitted to be paid for the Indentures or Contracts of Clerks and Apprentices, and for the further enforcing the Payment of the said Duties;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Foreign Linens Exportation, to prevent, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the Lord Limerick and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for effectually preventing the Exportation of Foreign Linens, under the Denomination of British or Irish Linens;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Bounties on Exportation of Linens, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the Lord Limerick and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for allowing certain additional Bounties on the Exportation of British and Irish Linens;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The Three last mentioned Bills were all read the First Time.

Catanach & al. against H. Gordon:

After hearing Counsel, as well Yesterday as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of James Catanach Doctor of Laws and Advocate in Aberdeen, and of Mr. Alexander Burnet Sub-principal, Doctor James Gregory Professor of Medicine, both of The King's College of Old Aberdeen, and Mr. Alexander Rait, Mr. Daniel Broadfoot, and Mr. John Chalmers, Regents or Professors and Teachers in the said College; complaining of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 20th of July 1744; and also of an Interlocutor of the 4th of December last, whereby they adhered to their former Interlocutor, made on the Behalf of Charles Hamilton Gordon Advocate at Edinburgh; and praying, "That the same might be reversed; and that this House would be pleased to afford the Appellants such other Relief as to their Lordships in their great Wisdom should seem meet:" As also upon the Answer of the said Charles Hamilton Gordon put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Judgement.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Interlocutors complained of in the said Appeal be, and the same are hereby, reversed: And it is hereby further Adjudged, That the Appellant James Catanach was duly qualified to be elected a Professor of Civil Law in The King's College of Aberdeen, and was duly elected: And it is also Ordered and Adjudged, That the Appellant Catanach be preferred to the said Office accordingly.

Wood against Wilson.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein George Wood is Appellant, and Janet Wilson Respondent, which stands to be heard on the next Cause-day, be put off to this Day Sevennight.

Adjourn.

E. Peterborow's Bill.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Charles Earl of Peterborow, or the succeeding Heirs of Entail, to sell Lands in the Counties of Kincarden and Aberdeen, for Payment of Debts charged thereupon; and to purchase other Lands, to be settled to the same Uses as the Estate to be sold is settled," stands committed, be revived; and meet on Monday next.

Wood against Wilson:

After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of George Wood in Garpell; complaining of certain Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 17th and 28th of July 1744, and 9th of November last, made on the Behalf of Janet Wilson; and praying, "That the same might be reversed; and that the Appellant might have such other Relief as to the Wisdom of this House should seem meet:" As also upon the Answer of the said Janet Wilson put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Judgement.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the said Interlocutors therein complained of be, and the same are hereby, affirmed: And it is further Ordered, That the said Appellant do pay, or cause to be paid, to the said Respondent (fn. 2), the Sum of Fifty Pounds, for her Costs in respect of the said Appeal.

And the Earl of Warwick reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."
