The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for explaining and amending several Powers contained in the Settlements made on the Marriage of Henry Walters Gentleman and Anne his Wife, and for rendering the same more effectual for the Purposes thereby intended," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."
Ordered, That the said Bill be engrossed.
Northampton Road, Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers granted and continued by Two Acts of Parliament, for amending the Highways leading from Brampton Bridge to Welford Bridge, in the County of Northampton, and the great Post Road from Morter-Pit-Hill to Chain Bridge, leading into Market Harborough, in the County of Leicester, and for explaining and making more effectual the said Acts, and also for repairing the Roads leading from Morter-Pit-Hill and Bramton Bridge to the Town of Northampton."

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for preventing Delays and Expences in the Proceedings in the County Court of Middlesex, and for the more easy and speedy Recovery of small Debts in the said County Court," to which they desire the Concurience of this House.

Sir Hugh Smithson Baronet, claiming, by virtue of a special Limitation contained in a Patent granted to Algernon Duke of Somerset, bearing Date the 2d Day of October in the 23d Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, the Earldom of Northumberland, was this Day (in his Robes) introduced, between the Earl of Strafford and Earl Brooke (also in their Robes), the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, Garter King at Arms, the Deputy Earl Marshal, and the Lord Great Chamberlain of England, preceding.
His Lordship presented his Patent, on his Knee, to the Lord Chancellor, at the Woolsack, who delivered it to the Clerk, and the same was read, at the Table.
His Writ of Summons was also read, and is as follows, (videlicet,)

E. of Egremont introduced.

The House being informed, "That Mr Williom Holland attended, in order to deliver in Copies of Papers, in the Cause wherein Robert Fitzgerald Esquire and his Wife are Appellants, and James Leslie Clerk and others Respondents."

He was called in, and delivered the said Papers at the Bar, and attested upon Oath, "The same were true, he having examined them with the Originals in the proper Offices in Ireland."

Upon reading the Petition of the Honourable Robert Herbert Esquire, Brother of the Right Honourable Henry late Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery, deceased, George Sawyer Esquire, the Honourable Richard Arundel Esquire, and the Honourable Henry Legge Esquire, as Guardians, on the Behalf of the Right Honourable Henry Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery, an Infant, praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for empowering the Guardians of the said Earl for the Time being, or the major Part of them, to make and grant such Leases of the Estates in the Petition mentioned, during his Minority, as he could do in case he was of the full Age of Twenty one Years.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Susannah Countess Dowager of Strathmore, complaining of certain Parts of an Interlocutor of the Commissaries of Edinburgh, of the 5th of January last, and likewise of an Interlocutor of the Lord Ordinary, of the 27th of February following, and also of an Interlocutor of the said Commissaries, of the 28th of the same Month, made on the Behalf of George Forbes, and praying, That so much of the said Interlocutors as are in the said Appeal complained of may be reversed or varied, or such other Relief given the Appellant as to this House shall seem just"

Upon reading the Petition of George Baker Gentleman, Lessee of William Ord Esquire and others, setting forth, That the Petitioner obtained a Judgement in Ejectment, in certain Collreries in the County Palatine of Durham, in the Court of Pleas of the said County Palatine, after a full Trial at the last Summer Assizes, against Meabourn Smith Esquire, James Smithson, and George Humble, with One Hundred and Thirty Pounds, Seven Shillings, and Seven Pence, Costs, and the said Smith, Smithson, and Humble, brought their Writ of Error in the Court of King's Bench, in order to reverse the said Judgement, returnable in Michaelmas Term last, which was in Hilary Term affirmed, with Thirteen Pounds further Costs, without any Opposition given on the Part of the said Plaintiff in Error, since which, they have sued out a Writ of Error returnable in Parliament, but have neglected to transcribe the Record and Proceedings," and praying, That the Plaintiffs in Error may be ordered to procure the same to be brought into this House by a Day to be appointed, and that Service of such Order on the Attorney so the Plaintiffs may be deemed good Service"
