Annuities into Joint Stoeks, Bill.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for converting the several Annuities therein mentioned into several Joint Stocks of Annuities transferrable at the Bank of England, to be charged on the Sinking Fund, and also for consolidating the several other Annuities therein mentioned into several Joint Stocks of Annuities transferrable at the South Sea House," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Gurn Senega Duty, &c Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir William Calvert and others.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to allow the Importation of Gum Senega into this Kingdom, from any Part of Europe, upon the Payment of a Duty, and for Relief of James Guthrie, with respect to the Duties paid and secured upon a Quantity of Tobacco, burnt at the Port of Kircudbright, and for giving further Time for Payment of Duties omitted to be paid for the Indentuies or Contracts of Clerks and Apprentices," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Chippenham Road, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir William Codington and others.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing and widening the Roads leading from Chippenham Bridge in the County of Wilts, to the Top of Togghill in the County of Gloucester, and from Chippenham Bridge aforesaid to the Top of Old Sodbury Hill in the said County of Gloucester," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bills were all read the First Time.

Ordered, That the Bill relating to Coroners be printed.

State of National Debt delivered.

The House being informed, "That Mr. Wilford, from the Exchequer, attended"

He was called in, and delivered, at the Bar, pursuant to the Address of this House of the 26th Day of February last,

"A State of the National Debt, provided or unprovided for by Parliament, as it stood on the 31st of December 1750, and 31st of December 1751, together with an Accompt of the Produce of the Sinking Fund in that Year, and to the Payment of what Debts, contracted before the 25th of December 1716, the said Fund hath been applied"

And then he was directed to withdraw.

And the Title thereof being read, by the Clerk.

Ordered, That the same do lie on the Table.

E. Kerry against V. Fitzmaurice.

After hearing Counsel, as well on Monday last as Yesterday and this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Francis Thomas Earl of Kerry and Lixnaw in the Kingdom of Ireland, an Infant, by Robert Baron Newport of Newport in the said Kingdom, his Guardian and next Friend, complaining of a Decree of the Court of Exchequer in that Kingdom, of the 3d Day of December 1750, made in certain Causes, wherein John Fitzmaurice Esquire was Plaintiff, and the Appellant Defendant, et e contra, and praying, "That the said Decree might be reversed or rectified, and such Relief given the Appellant as to this House in their great Wisdom and Justice should seem meet" As also upon the Answer of the said John Fitzm urice, by the Name and Title of John Petty Lord Viscount Fitzmaurice, put in to the said Appeal, and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause.

Judgement.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That so much of the said Decree, whereby it was directed, "That an Issue at Law should be tried, Whether the Lands of Cregane and Ballygoaloge, or either and which of them, be Grand-denominations or Sub-denominations, or Part and Parcel, of the Towns and Lands of Bally McJordan, Drumlegagh, and Listowhill, or of any and which of them," be, and the same is hereby, reversed, and that instead thereof these Words be inserted, (videlicet) "Whether the Lands of Cregane and Ballygouloge or either, and which of them, are comprized in the Description of the Towns and Lands of Listowhill, Drumlegagh, and Bally McJordan, or any and which of them, in the Limitation of the Term of Twenty-one Years, created in the Towns and Lands last mentioned, by the Indenture of the 11th of May 1716, according to the true Intent and Meaning of the said Indenture" And it is hereby further Ordered and Adjudged, That, with this Variation, the said Decree be affirmed And it is further Ordered, That the said Court of Exchequer do give Directions for carrying this Order and Judgement into Execution.

Snaith Common enclosing, Bill.

The Earl of Warwick reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for establishing and rendering effectual certain Articles of Agreement, for the enclosing and dividing the Commons and Waste Grounds, in the Townships of Snaith, Cowick, and Rawcliffe, in the County of York," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, and having heard Counsel on both Sides thereupon, had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Sinking Fund Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty a certain Sum of Money, therein mentioned, out of the Sinking Fund, and for enabling His Majesty to raise a further Sum of Money, therein also mentioned, by Exchequer Bills, to be charged on the Sinking Fund, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-two, and for the further appropriating the Supplies granted in this Session of Parliament"

Address for Accompt of Duty on Coaches.

The Order of the Day being read, for the House to be put into a Committee, to proceed further upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing Thefts and Robberies, and for regulating Places of Publick Entertainment, and punishing Persons keeping disorderly Houses."

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee, to consider further of the said Bill, To-morrow, and the Lords summoned.

Sinking Fund, Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty a certain Sum of Money, therein mentioned, out of the Sinking Fund, and for enabling His Majesty to raise a further Sum of Money, therein also mentioned, by Exchequer Bills, to be charged on the Sinking Fund, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-two, and for the further appropriating the Supplies granted in this Session of Parliament."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Warwick reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Greenwich Hospital, Bill.

The like Proceeding was had, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to render valid and effectual all Contracts and Agreements, which shall be made by the Commissioners or Governors of the Royal Hospital for Seamen at Greenwich, for the Purchase of Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, for the finishing and compleating the said Hospital, and for ascertaining the Recompense that shall be made for the same"

Tower Hamlets, small Debts, Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of the principal Inhabitants and other Householders residing in The Tower Hamlets, whose Names are thereunto subscribed, in Behalf of themselves and great Numbers of poor Artificers and Manufacturers within the said District, setting forth, "That, by the Bill abovementioned, should the same pass into a Law as it now stands, the Petitioners will be subjected to many Inconveniencies and Hardships, particularly by bringing an unnecessary Charge upon the Inhabitants paying Scot and Lot, by increasing the Fees now payable to the present Clerks, which arising principally from the Misfortunes of the Mean and Indigent, many such Objects of Compassion, who have large Families, will probably be drove to the Necessity of becoming chargeable to the Parish," and praying, "In regard the Petitioners doubt not but to prove the Business incumbent on the Four Clerks may be performed by any Two Persons of common Knowledge and Industry, that they may not be subject to an additional Burden of oppressive Fees, that they may be heard, by their Counsel, and have such Relief as to the House shall seem meet"

Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the Parish of St Paul Covent Garden, in the Liberty of Westminster, setting forth, "That they are informed, there is a Bill depending in this House, for erecting and fitting up a proper Court-house, for the Use of the Justices of Peace, the Charges whereof, to be raised by a Rate on the Petitioners and others, will occasion manifest Hardships and Inconveniencies, and if such Court-house should be erected, it should not be confined solely to the Meeting of the Justices, who do not assemble Twenty Days in a Year," and praying, "That the said Bill may not pass, or that the Petitioners may have such other Relief as to the great Wisdom of this House shall seem meet"

Upon reading the Petition of Thomas Lewen One of the Bailiffs of the Borough of Scarborough, in the County of York, and James Hebden One of the Coroners of the same Borough, on the Behalf of themselves and the other Capital Burgesses and Freemen of the said Borough, setting forth, "That the Bailiffs or Burgesses of Scarborough aforesaid reseised of several Estates and Jurisdictions within that Borough, which, they conceive, will be greatly affected if the said Bill passes into a Law," and praying, "That they may be heard, by then Counsel, against the said Bill, or have such other Relief as to this House shall seem meet"

Gordon against His Majesty's Advocate.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of John Gordon Esquire, Second Son of Sir James Gordon of Park, deceased, complaining of Three Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 22d of November and 6th of December 1751, and 18th of February 1752, made on the Behalf of His Majesty's Advocate for Scotland, and praying, "That the same may be reversed, and that the Appellant may have such Relief as to their Lordships in their great Wisdom and Justice shall seem meet"

It is Ordered, That His Majesty's said Advocate for Scotland may have a Copy of the said Appeal, and do put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Thursday the 16th Day of April next, and that Service of this Order upon any of the Lawyers or Agents for the Crown be deemed good Service.
