This Day Edward Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Carlisle Military Road, Trustees Accompts, &c. delivered.

The House being informed, "That Mr. Bigge, from the Commissioners and Trustees appointed to put in Execution an Act of the 24th Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for making a Road for the Passage of Troops and Carriages, from Carlisle to Newcastle, attended:"

He was called in; and delivered, at the Bar,

"Copies of the Proceedings and Accompts of the said Commissioners and Trustees, for the Counties of Cumberland and Northumberland."

And then he was directed to withdraw.

And the Titles thereof were read, by the Clerk, as follow:

"Copies of the several Acts and Proceedings made by the Commissioners and Trustees, and also the Accompt of the Receipts and Disbursements of George Pattinson Gentleman, Treasurer to and for the said Commissioners and Trustees nominated and appointed for putting in Execution an Act passed the 24th Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for making and repairing the Road from the City of Carlisle to the Town of Newcastle upon Tyne, so far as the same relates to that Part of the said Road which lies in the County of Cumberland."

"Copy of the Ninth and Tenth Accompt of the Receipts and Disbursements of John Tweddell Gentleman, Clerk and Treasurer to and for the Commissioners and Trustees nominated and appointed for putting in Execution an Act passed in the Twentyfourth Year of His present Majesty's Reign, for making and repairing the Road from the City of Carlisle to the Town of Newcastle upon Tyne, so far as the same relates to that Part of the said Road which lies in the County of Northumberland."

Ordered, That the same do lie on the Table.

Westminster Bridge, Commissioners, Proceedings delivered.

The House being informed, "That Mr. Seddon, from the Commissioners of Westminster Bridge, attended:"

He was called in; and delivered, at the Bar, pursuant to several Acts of Parliament,

"A State of the Proceedings of the said Commissioners, from the 20th Day of November 1753, to the 26th Day of November 1754, inclusive; and also, the Accompts of the Treasurer to the said Commissioners, from the 10th Day of October 1753, to the 10th Day of October 1754."

And then he was directed to withdraw.

And the Titles thereof being read, by the Clerk:

Lockhart against D. of Douglas; Cross Appeal.

Upon reading the Petition and Cross Appeal of John Lockhart of Lee Esquire, One of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Lanerk; complaining of Part of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 19th of December 1752; and praying, "That the same may be reversed or varied; and that this House will give the Appellant such Relief as to their Lordships in their great Wisdom shall seem meet; and that Archibald Duke of Douglas may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said Archibald Duke of Douglas may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and do put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Wednesday the Eighth Day of January next; and Service of this Order upon any of the Counsel or Agents of the said Duke in the Court of Session in Scotland shall be deemed good Service.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for punishing Mutiny and Desertion, and for the better Payment of the Army and their Quarters;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Brancaster Common to enclose, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Colonel Townshend and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing and enclosing the Common Field and Brecks, in the Manor and Parish of Brancaster, in the County of Norfolk; and for extinguishing the several Rights of Common and Sheep Walk over the said Field and Brecks, and over certain Half Year Closes and Pieces of Common in the said Manor and Parish; and for granting another Right of Common to the Owners of certain Dwelling Houses in the Manor and Parish aforesaid;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
