The Answer of The Right Honorable Robert Edward Viscount Lorton and The Honorable Robert King, to the Petition and Cross Appeal of The Right Honorable George Earl of Kingston was this Day brought in.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Causes in which Prints of the Parties Cases, now depending in this House upon Appeals and Writs of Error, have not been delivered, pursuant to the Standing Orders of this House; and of other Matters relating thereto; and to report to the House; and to whom were referred certain Petitions in the following Causes; The Marquess of Donegall against Salt; Solarte against Palmer; Bryden against Bryden; Hamilton against Bennett; Napier against Goldie; Blake against Boyle; the Bailiff Burgesses of Chipping Sodbury against Smith; Lord Graves against Fisher; and Gibson against Kirkland; "That the Committee had met, and considered the Respondents Petition in the Cause George Augustus Marquess of Donegall against Salt and others, and the Defendants Petition in the Writ of Error Solarte and others against Palmer and another, severally praying their Lordships for Leave now to lodge their printed Cases; and had heard the Agents thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, That the Petitioners may respectively be allowed now to deliver in their printed Cases: That the Committee had also considered the Respondents Petitions in the Causes Bryden and others against Bryden and others, and Hamilton against Bennett and others, severally praying their Lordships for Leave to lodge their printed Cases within a Week; and had heard the Agents thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, That the Petitioners may respectively be allowed to deliver in their printed Cases within a Week: That the Committee had also considered the Appellant's Petition in the Cause Napier against Goldie and others, praying their Lordships that he may have until the first Week of next Session of Parliament to lodge his printed Case; and had heard the Agents thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, That the Petitioner may be allowed a Month's further Time to deliver in his printed Cases: That the Committee had also considered the Petition of William Witham, Agent of the Appellant in the Cause Blake against Boyle and another, praying their Lordships to grant to the Appellant a Month's further Time from the 26th of this instant July to lay the Prints of his Case on the Table of the House; and had heard the Agents thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, That the Appellant may be allowed a Month's Time from the 26th of this instant July to deliver in his printed Cases: That the Committee had also considered the Petition of Alexander Crombie and Xaveria Glendonwyn, Two of the Respondents in the Cause Napier against Goldie and others, praying their Lordships that the Petition of Appeal may be dismissed with Costs; and had heard the Agents thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, (under the Circumstances stated to the Committee,) That the Prayer of the said Petition ought not to be complied with: That the Committee had also considered the Petition of the Bailiff and Bailiff Burgesses of Chipping Sodbury, and of William Higgs, Henry Williams, George Whittington, Richard Arnold and Jasper Fowler, Five of the said Bailiff Burgesses, praying that their Lordships will be pleased to receive a Petition of Appeal from certain Orders of the Court of Chancery, made in the Matter of the Free Grammar School of Chipping Sodbury, in the County of Gloucester, and dispense with the Standing Order in this Case; and had heard the Agents thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, under the Circumstances of the Case, That the Prayer of the said Petition ought not to be complied with: That the Committee had also considered the Petition of The Right Honorable Thomas Williams Graves commonly called Lord Graves, praying that their Lordships will be pleased to order that the Appeal Thomas North Graves commonly called Lord Graves against Fisher may stand revived in the Petitioner's Name, in the Place and Stead of the said Thomas North Graves Lord Graves his late Father, deceased, and that the Petitioner may have the same Benefit of the said Appeal as his said Father might have had if living; and had heard the Appellant's Agent thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, That the said Appeal may stand revived in the Petitioner's Name, in the Place and Stead of the said Thomas North Graves Lord Graves his late Father, deceased, and that he should have the same Benefit of the said Appeal as his said Father might have had if living: And that the Committee had also considered the Petition of Alexander M'Kenzie Kirkland, Merchant in Glasgow, Miss Ann Kirkland residing there, and Kenneth William Kirkland, Merchant there, Children of John Kirkland deceased, late One of the Respondents in the Cause Gibson against Kirkland and another, praying that their Lordships will be pleased to order that the Petitioners may be made Parties Respondents in the said Appeal, as the personal Representatives of the said deceased John Kirkland; and had heard the Agents thereon, and the Committee are of Opinion, That the said Petitioners Alexander M'Kenzie Kirkland, Ann Kirkland and Kenneth William Kirkland may be made Parties Respondents to the said Appeal, as the personal Representatives of the said deceased John Kirkland, as desired."
Which Report, being read by the Clerk, was agreed to by the House; and Ordered accordingly.
Solarte et al. v. Palmer & Bouch.
The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed for hearing Counsel to argue the Errors assigned upon the Writ of Error wherein Joseph Ventura de Aguirre Solarte, and others, are Plaintiffs, and John Archdale Palmer and William Bouch are Defendants:"
It is Ordered, That this House will hear the said Errors argued, by Counsel at the Bar, on the first vacant Day for Causes after those already appointed.
Crowder v. Watson et al.
Ordered, That the Cause wherein Mrs. Elizabeth Rebecca Crowder or Turnley is Appellant, and James Watson, and others, are Respondents, be heard by Counsel at the Bar on Saturday the 11th of August next.
Taxed Carts Bill reported:
