	(f. 169.) Walter, bishop of Dunblane. On behalf of Michael de Monimousc, licentiate of canon law, for the deanery of Aberdeen, void by the consecration of the said bishop, notwithstanding that he is dean of Dunblane, and has canonries and prebends of Dunblane, Brechin, and Ross. He is ready to resign the deanery and the canonries and prebends of Dunblane and Ross. Granted. Avignon, 10 Kal. Sept.

Whereas his eldest son, Edward de Wodestok, and Joan countess of Kent, are related in the third degree of kindred, and whereas Edward was sponsor to a son of Joan, and they have contracted marriage, the pope is prayed to absolve and dispense them, and declare their future offspring legitimate; or else to commit the matter to the archbishop of Canterbury, the bishop of Exeter, and the abbot of Cluny, making order that two chapels shall be founded and endowed with 20 marks a year apiece. 	(f. 191d.) Robert, nephew of the king of Scotland, and steward of the realm. Whereas he and Margaret, countess of Menteith, have treated of a marriage between Robert, the said steward's son, and the said Margaret, in order that the earldoms of Strathern and Menteith may not be endangered, and whereas the parties are related in the fourth degree of kindred, and Robert the son is related in the fourth degree to John de Moravia, the first husband, and to Thomas, earl of Mar, second husband of the countess, the said steward prays for a dispensation, the parties being ready to found and endow a chapel with 12 marks a year. 	(f. 222d.) Ralph Nicole of Bury. Whereas he was presented by the prior and canons of Thortyngton, patrons of St. Swithin's, Candlewick Street, London, and was instituted by the bishop, and has held it for two years, but doubts whether the prior had then the right of presentation, he prays for confirmation of the same. Granted. Avignon, 7 Kal. Oct.
	(f. 223d.) William Driffield. Whereas he exchanged the canonry and prebend of Tervyn in Lichfield for the canonry and prebend of Ross in Salisbury, and doubts whether Peter de Gildesburgh had a right to them, he prays that the exchange may be validated, notwithstanding that he has the church of Franton and the canonry and prebend of Scharhow in Ripon. John de Dunster, of the diocese of Wells, for confirmation of the presentation and institution by authority of the ordinary of the church of Schippedham, in the diocese of Norwich, void by the death of Thomas de Morlee, and his institution by John Haberti, papal auditor, who had given sentence in favour of Dunster against William de Tyrington, who was intruded into the said church. 	(f. 236d.) Henry de Pik, M.A. bachelor of civil and canon law. Whereas the pope confirmed the collation by the ordinary of the church of Bridestow, in the diocese of Exeter, and Henry fears that it has lapsed to the pope, he prays that a clause to cover this case may be added. 	(f. 241d.) Whereas John Doily, perpetual vicar of St. Mary's, Potterne, and Thomas West, perpetual vicar of All Saints, Kingston-on-Thames, resigned their benefices in order to exchange them, they pray for provision of the same. Granted. Avignon, 8 Kal. Oct.

He, having been dispensed as the illegitimate son of a married man, obtained the church of Great Okeley, and on resigning it a canonry and prebend of St. Karentoc, value 30s. by dispensation of the diocesan, and now prays for confirmation of the same. For the chancellorship of Limerick, value 16l. void by the consecration of Stephen Laweles, bishop of Limerick, notwithstanding that he has the canonry and prebend of Balicathan in Limerick, and the perpetual vicarage of SS. Whereas he, when in his twenty-fourth year, obtained a third portion called ‘atte Grene,’ of the church of Wottesdon, void by the resignation of Master Henry de Chaddesden, and held it as a sinecure, according to a sentence in the court of Canterbury, for four years, and then obtained also the church of Stretton, in the diocese of Hereford, void by the resignation of Sir John Spotte, and was ordained deacon and priest within a year, and has held the two benefices for two years and three months, and then resigned the portion, and in six months obtained the church of Cherryns, in the diocese of Canterbury, void by the death of John de Lancastre, and then resigned it, and, in a month, Stretton; he now prays for dispensation to minister in the orders he has received, even if it be found that the said portion was not a sinecure.
