	[Stapelford.] A messuage &c., 11 bovates of land each containing 10a. by the perch of 16 ft., a moiety of a water-mill with a pond, and a several pasture worth 12d. yearly, 36 bovates of land in Stapelford and Thurmeton held by Geoffrey de Stapelford knight, by knight’s service and scutage when it shall happen, 20 bovates of land held by John son of John de Stapelford by knight’s service rendering 2d. yearly only and doing scutage when it shall happen, 2 bovates of land held by Robert le Mazun rendering 3s. yearly, 16s. assised rent from 8 bovates held in bondage by 4 bondmen, with their works, customs and aids, and a cottage which renders 12d. yearly, all held of the king in chief of the fee of Peverell by knight’s service and doing suit at the court of Peverell every three weeks. A hide of land, viz.—24a. arable, 8a. meadow and 62 1/2a. pasture, with a court and 1 1/2a. of close, held of the king in chief as of the honour of Albemarle by serjeanty, that is to say he ought to come at the king’s command to take venison in time of grease (pinguedinis) at Carsbrock in the Isle at the king’s charges, on the first day with his own horses (equitatura) and on following days, so long as he shall be there for the same purpose (pro eodem), with the king’s horses and all other charges; 1/2 hide of land held of John de Clavile; 1/2 hide of land held of Robert son of Payn; and 1/2 virgate of land held of Ingram le Waleys; and there are 23s. 5d. of assised rent, and the advowson of the church. 	Irnham. The manor (extent given), including 6s. rent of a burgage and 2s. 8d. and 64 hens from bondmen and cottars, ‘wodehome’ and ‘wodepeny,’ with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief as member of his manor of Hoton Paynel, which he held of the king by barony. Geoffrey his son, aged 21 on the eve of Whitsunday last, is his next heir.

	Gamelston. A capital messuage, 6 1/2 virgates of land in bondage, whereof each virgate owes 3s. 2d. yearly, a day’s hoeing, a day’s mowing with the lord’s food, a day’s hay making, two days’ reaping without food, and four days’ mowing and one day’s carrying corn with food. Briggeford. 12 bovates of land in demesne, 2a. several pasture, a wind-mill, 68s. rent of free tenants, and 19 virgates of land in bondage, owing rent and works as in Gamelston. Briggeford and Gamelston. 12 cottages rendering 24s. yearly. Briggeford. The advowson of the church. All held of Robert Typetoft by service of 1/2 knight’s fee. Gamelston. 5 1/2 virgates of land in bondage which owe rent and works as abovesaid, held of Anora de Perpount by homage and service of 1lb. pepper; and all the bondmen aforesaid ought to carry the lord’s hay in common, and give 100s. aid to the lord at the feast of St. Michael. [BUCKINGHAM.]	Inq. made at Crendon on Thursday, the feast of St. Peter ad Vincula, 25 Edw. I.
	Crendon. A third part of the manor (extent given), excepting a third part of the advowson of the abbey of Notley, held of Maud de Mortuo Mari, of her gift to the said William and the heirs of his body, by service of a pair of gilt spurs at the feast of St. Michael. The said tenements ought to revert to the said Maud by the form of her gift aforesaid, because he died without heir of his body.

All held of Maud de Mortuo Mari by service of rendering a pair of gilt spurs price 6d. yearly at the feast of St. Michael, of the enfeoffment of the said Maud to him and the heirs of his body with reversion to herself and her heirs. He died without heir of his body. Part of the manor (extent given), including a preserve, held of the abbot of Westminster, service unknown; and part (extent given), held of the countess of Gloucester in chief by service of doing suit at (sequendi) her court of Theok(esbury) every three weeks; and there are paid yearly 7s. 4d. to the prior of Derhurste, 10s. 10 1/2d. to Nicholas le Archer of Stok, and 1lb. cummin, price 1 1/2d., to the lord of Harsfeld. Kenemerton within the manor of Theok(esbury). A part of the manor (extent given) held of the countess of Gloucester by service of doing suit at her court of Theok(esbury) every three weeks. Edmund de Mortuo Mari, aged 33, is his next heir. Endorsed: Sum total of this extent in co. Gloucester of the inheritance of Hawis, deducting service, 27l. 6s. 2 1/2d.

	Cherleton Muscegros. The manor (extent given) held of the honour of King’s Camel, of the inheritance of Hawis his wife heir of Robert de Muscegros, for 1/2 knight’s fee. Norton. Two parts of the manor (extent given) held of the king in chief for 1/2 knight’s fee of the inheritance aforesaid. Stawelle. The manor (extent given) held of Hugh le Poinz for 1 knight’s fee of the same inheritance. Edmund de Mortuo Mari, his elder brother, aged 30 and more, is his next heir.
SOMERSET.	Inq. Tuesday after St. Mary Magdalen, 25 Edw. I.
	Bridgewater (Bruges Walteri). The castle and a third part of the manor (extent given), including rents in the borough, rents of stalls and the oven, toll of the sea (?) (aque marine), of the market (fori) and fair (nundinarum), and the land of ‘la Holelond.’ Milverton. Two parts of the manor (extent given), including rents of the borough. Odecumbe. Two parts of the manor. All held of the king in chief for 1/4 knight’s fee, of the enfeoffment of Maud de Mortuo Mari his mother, with reversion to herself and her heirs if he should die without heir of his body. All the tenements aforesaid ought to revert to the said Maud. Heir as last above.

Middlewich. 160 boilings (boilones) of salt ‘del hordurnsalt,’ pertaining to the stewardship aforesaid, held of the king in chief. Alholm. A moiety of the town held of Richard de Sweteneham by service of 4s. yearly. Leghton. A fourth part of the town held of Hugh de Thornton by service of a pair of spurs or 2d. Chester. 16s. yearly rent issuing from burgages, with a certain crebro in the same (town), held of Ralph son of Simon by service of 1d. yearly. 	Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Robert de Monte Alto, brother and heir of Roger de Monte Alto, that a moiety of the manor of Tackele, held of the said Roger by William le Poure, deceased, by knight’s service, and by him demised to Roger late bishop of Coventry and Lichfield for life only, was taken into the king’s hand after the said bishop’s death, and the wardship thereof during the minority of the heir of the said William is detained from him, 24 April, 25 Edw. I.
[OXFORD.]	Inq. made at Wodestoke, 25 July, 25 Edw. I.
	Tackeleye. William le Poure demised a moiety of the manor (extent given) to Roger late bishop of Coventry and Lichfield for life, with reversion to the said William and his heirs; and the jury believe that this was about 20 years ago. The said William held the said moiety of Roger de Monte Alto by service of 1/2 knight’s fee, and died in the lifetime as well of the bishop as of the said Roger; so that the wardship of the said moiety does not belong to the said Robert by reason of inheritance, but to the executors of the will of the said Roger, because the wardship belonged to him in his lifetime after the bishop’s death. Walter his son, aged 20 at Easter last, is the said William’s next heir.

	Writ concerning the lands &c. of the said Thomas, who held of the heir of Edmund the king’s brother a minor and in the king’s wardship, 18 June, 25 Edw. I.
SUFFOLK.	Inq. 30 June, 25 Edw. I.
	Oteleye. The manor (extent given) held of Sir Edmund the king’s brother, of the honour of Lancaster, by rendering yearly for the guard of (the castle of) Lancaster 20s. at Whitsunday; but the said Thomas, three weeks before his death, enfeoffed Edmund de Holebrok of the said manor; the goods, chattels and servants however of the said Thomas remained there in his name until his death and still remain. The jury seek a decision (discretionem) as to whether the said Thomas died seised of the manor or not. His sisters, Isabel married to Guy (Wydoni) de Mortuo Mari, and Avice married to Geoffrey de Buxhale, are his next heirs, and Avice the younger is 24 and more.

The manor (extent given), including a foreign rent of a pair of gilt spurs yearly from the tenement of Thomas de Meuse of Estsmethefeud, knight, held of the bishop of London by service of 1/2 knight’s fee, and paying 2s. yearly at the bishop’s castle of Storteford and doing suit of court there every three weeks. Edmund his son, aged 26 and more, who is in Gascony, is his next heir.
SURREY.	Inq. 5 Feb. 25 Edw. I.
	West Horslegh. The manor (extent given) held, of the inheritance of Cristina de Berners who was his wife, of Richard de Wyndlesore, knight, by service of 1/4 knight’s fee, and 40d. every twenty-four weeks; and there are rendered 13l. 6s. 8d. yearly to Joan de Gatton, sister of the said Cristina, for her share. Heir as above, but the jury know not whether he is alive or dead.

[BEDFORD.]	Inq. Wednesday after St. Barnabas, 25 Edw. I.
	Weston. The manor (extent given), which is of the king’s ancient demesnes, held in free marriage of the barony of Averenchis; which manor Maud, daughter of and heir of William de Averenchis the elder, at one time held of the king in chief by service of appearing before the justices in eyre in the county of Bedford. Hamo le Creveker married her and they gave the manor to William their son and heir in free marriage with the said Mabel. This William died without heir of his body so that the said Mabel held the manor for life according to the form of the gift aforesaid. Juliana, daughter of John son of Agnes one of the daughters of the said Hamo and Maud, aged 23 and more, John de Lenham, son of Iseult the second of the daughters of the said Hamo and Maud, aged 30 and more, and Eleanor, daughter of the said Hamo and Maud, aged 60 and more, are next heirs of the said Maud. Sir John de Lenham some time since impleaded his aunts Agnes and Eleanor before [Martin] de Littelbury and his fellows, then justices in banco, for what was deficient in his reasonable share of the inheritance of the said Maud his grandmother; in consequence of which they granted him in the said court the manor of Weston after the death of the said Mabel; so that the manor ought (now) to revert to the said John.

A messuage &c., 151a. arable in demesne, 16a. meadow, 30a. of poor woodland (debilis bosci) on which the pasture is worth 6s. 8d., another pasture, 2s. and 1lb. pepper assised rent of a freeman, and 6d. rent of another freeman, four tenants in villenage each holding 1/2 virgate, and three holding each a ferling of land, two cottars, a woman who holds a piece of meadow and renders 6d. yearly, a piece of meadow worth 5d., and 2s. pleas &c. of court, held of the king in chief, service unspecified. Partition of the above. Share of John de Meriet and Mary his wife, younger daughter and one of the heirs of William de Mohun (full extent given with field names and names of tenants), including the northern half of the messuage and close, and lands on Niweton, on the hills of Oldehey and Colflad (?), and in Quenegore, Efurlang, Wychegrave and Dokham. Partition of the lands &c. which were of William de Mohun made 25 Sept. 25 Edw. I, between John de Carreu and Eleanor his wife, one of the daughters and heirs of the said William, and John de Meryet and Mary his wife, the other daughter and heir.

	Writ, 14 Dec. 26 Edw. I.
	The king having received the fealty of John de Meriet for the pourparty of Mary, his wife, of the lands &c. late of William de Mohun, and having ordered the said lands &c. to be divided into two equal parts and the pourparty of the said Mary to be delivered to her and her husband, and having afterwards, when Eleanor the younger daughter of William de Mohun had proved her age, received the fealty of John de Carreu her husband, and ordered her pourparty to be delivered to her and the said John, now finds that the partition was made without warning to the said Mary and Eleanor contrary to the custom of the realm: he therefore orders the escheator to resume the lands &c. into his hand, and give notice to the heirs to be present in the chancery on the quinzaine of St. Hilary to receive their pourparties. Return of the escheator that he received the king’s writ on 1 Jan. and caused execution to be made at once, giving notice on Monday the feast of St. Hilary to John de Carreu and Eleanor his wife at Stoke Flemyng, Galmaton and Otery Mohun, co. Devon, and on the Wednesday following to John de Meriet and Mary his wife at Sturministre Mareschal, co. Dorset, Mildehale, co. Wilts, Luton, co. Bedford, and Magor, co. Gloucester, to be in the chancery on the day named in the writ.
