COLN ST. DENNIS
(7 miles N.N.E. of Cirencester)
The Foss Way forms the W. boundary of the parish. Lysons notes the discovery of Roman coins in the immediate vicinity of a barrow, (fn. 1) but the position of the barrow itself is not known.
(1) Enclosures and Linear Ditches (SP 074088), undated, show as crop-marks extending over some 40 acres on the plain, ½ mile S.E. of Foss Cross. Enclosure 'a', covering about 2/3 acre, has gaps in the two rounded ends and in each side near the N. end. The other cropmarks are ill defined.
