This wapentake contains the parishes of Aysgarth; Coverham; Downholme; Fingall; Grinton; Hauxwell; Middleham; Spennithorne; Thornton Steward; Wensley; East Witton; West Witton
It has formed throughout its history part of the honour of Richmond and has followed Richmondshire (q.v.) in descent.
