Enrolment of release by Thomas de Houton, son of John de Houton, dean of Aukelond, diocese of Durham, to Richard Lacer, citizen of London, and Juliana his wife, of all his right and claim in all those lands, with houses, gardens and all other appurtenances which the said Richard and Juliana lately held of the gift and enfeoffment of the said Sir John in the parishes and fields of Westgrenewiz, Rotherhethe, Depeford and Pecktham. Witnesses: John de Dureme, Joseph de Dureme, Robert Scarl, William Clipp, Henry Jurdan, William Bysouche, Laurence Ferrour. Dated at Grenewyz on Monday after Michaelmas 15 Edward III.
Enrolment of release by Thomas de Houton son of Sir John de Houton, dean of Aukelond church, to Richard Lacer, citizen of London, of all his right and claim in all those lands with all their appurtenances which Richard lately held of the gift and enfeoffment of the said Sir John, in the parishes of the churches of St. Mary Magdalene at Old Fish-street and of St. Benet atte Wodewarf, London, lying together between the lane of St. Peter towards the east, and a common lane of St. Benet towards the west, the highway in the north and the tenement which belonged to Alice Poterel and the tenement of William de Carleton, formerly of Henry atte Swan, towards the south, Andrew Aubrey, mayor of London, Richard de Berkyngg, and John Rokele, sheriffs, Walter Neel, alderman of the ward. Witnesses: William de Ware, William de Carleton, John de Gloucestr[ia], Simon de Turnham, John de Denham, John Siward, John Tornegold, Richard de Pynnore, William de Fulsham. [Dated as above.]
Memorandum that Thomas came into chancery at Westminster on Wednesday after Michaelmas and acknowledged the preceding deeds.
Enrolment of indenture made at Westminster on 3 October in the 15th year of the reign between Sir William de Mountagu, earl of Salisbury of the one part, and Sir Robert Dufford, earl of Suffolk, and Sir Robert Dufford his son, of the other part, testifying that whereas the said Sir Robert and his son are bound to Sir William in 6,000l. by a recognisance made in chancery on the day aforesaid, to be paid at the Purification in the second year following, Sir William grants that if they pay to him at London 1,000l. at Christmas next, in sterlings or in florins; namely in florins del escu of France of fine gold at 3s. 9¼d. each or in florins of Florence of good weight and fine gold at 3s. each, at their choice, and 1,000l. at Midsummer following in the same manner, and 1,000l. at Christmas following also in the same manner, then the said recognisance shall be void, but otherwise it shall remain in force. To Thomas Wake of Lydel and his fellows, justices appointed to hear and determine the trespasses and excesses committed in cos. Norfolk and Suffolk. Order not to aggrieve John Bardolf of Wyrmyngeye for not appearing before them in their sessions in those counties, as he has come to the king to London at his order to treat with other magnates of the realm upon certain arduous affairs touching the king and the realm.
