Guy Fairfax, serjeant at law, and Henry Daynell brother of
Brian Daynell, esquire of Bylton and his enfeoffees, to Thomas
son of Brian Daynell and his heirs. Release and quitclaim of
the manors of Bylton, Tokwith, Bustardthorpe, Midelthorpe and
Bisshopthorpe co. York, and of all lands, tenements, rents,
reversions and services, formerly of the said Brian in the above
places and in Marstone and York city, the manor of Salley by
Fontance, and all other lands, tenements, rents etc. which the
above William held in the towns and territories of Salley, by
gift and enfeoffment of Brian Daynell, by charter dated 11
October, 1 Edward IV, with clause of warranty, to fulfill his last
will; and the said Guy, Henry and Thomas Daynell, as their
cofeoffees by charter indented dated 2 March, 2 Edward IV,
confirmed the said manors to Brian and his assigns together with
all messuages, cottages, tofts, crofts and gardens in Bylton
situated in the south of Bylton, four acres and half a rood of
land lying in West Crofte excepted, and forty acres of pasture,
meadow and wood with separate enclosure, together with 10½
bovates of land in Bylton of Bryan Daynell, and of Nicholas
Halley, William Spynyngthorne, Richard son of John de Pyley
of Pontefract, William West and Richard son of Alan de Stokyld:
the above premises to be held by the said Brian from the date
of this indenture for the term of forty years following, without
any rent to be paid for them to the said Guy, Henry and Thomas,
without impeachment of waste: with clause of provision specified
in the indenture that if Brian die within the term of 40 years,
that tenancy shall cease and be void immediately after his decease:
since Thomas Daynell as son of Brian has the right of inheritance
to the said Brian in all his manors and lands, and this release is
herewith made to him by the aforesaid Guy and Henry of all
