Henry Perpount of Nottinghamshire esquire, to the king. Recognisance for 400 marks, to be levied etc. in Nottinghamshire.
Condition, that he shall appear in person in chancery, 7 July, and meantime shall keep the peace toward all the people dwelling in the town of Nottingham, doing or procuring no hurt or harm to any of them.
Cancelled by assent of the parties, for that on 7 July, Richard Neal serjeant at law and Thomas Babyngton, recorder of Nottingham, in name of the inhabitants therein, made to Henry Pyerpount a release of this security.

Memorandum of the delivery, 18 June, to the sheriff of Wiltshire, for execution of a writ (text follows), tested at Westminster, 20 May, 7 Edward IV, directing him to attach Thomas Norton, so as to have him in chancery in the octaves of St. John Baptist next to answer for his despite and for what shall be laid against him; as he did appear there, and a day was given him after to appear, and he appeared not, but withdrew from court without licence.

Roger Bekynsale parson of Byrton, to the dean and canons of the free chapel of St. Stephen within Westminster palace. Recognisance for 100 marks, to be levied etc. in Dorset.
Condition, that he shall abide and obey the award of R. bishop of Bath and Wells and chancellor indifferently chosen, touching all actions, suits, plaints, tithes, oblations, obventions and demands between the parties, so that the same be made by the arbitrator before the-feast of St. Andrew next, otherwise he shall appear in person in chancery in the quinzaine of St. Martin next, and meantime shall take no tithes etc. in debate between the parties.

John Browe of Wodhede co. Rutland esquire, to Robert Clyfton esquire, Master William Radclyff clerk, Gervase Clyfton esquire and Thomas Chamburleyne, their heirs and assigns. Quit claim with warranty of the manor of Wodhede, the advowsons of the chapel there and of the parish church of Brigcasterton and all lands etc. in the towns and fields of Brigcasterton and Pikworth except those in Pikworth, which John Browe purchased of Henry Ingelhose. John Lucas abbot of the exempt monastery of Holy Cross Waltham and the convent, to John Shelley citizen and mercer of London. Acknowledgment that neither he nor his kin were bondmen of the said abbey, so far as the abbot has ever heard, but that he is a free man born, though a rumour has been spread that he is their neif; that search has been made of the records, muniments etc. in their archives, and nothing was found to the contrary, and that he, his issue and all of his blood shall enjoy their freedom. Dated the chapter house, 27 June, 1467, 7 Edward IV.

Declaration of the will of Stephen Scrope esquire, that whereas for 200l. to him paid he has granted to John Neuburgh the elder esquire the wardship and marriage of John Scrope his son and heir apparent, and has delivered the said heir to him, and whereas the said Stephen and Roger Doket clerk, who is enfeoffed to his use in the manor and advowson of Castelcombe, have as security for the said wardship and marriage and for performance of certain covenants by charter given that manor and advowson and the manor of Oxendon otherwise Oxmanton to John Neuburgh the elder, John Filoll, Thomas Husse the elder, William Neuburgh, John Fitzjames the elder, Ambrose Greseacres, Roger Copley, John Carent the younger, Christopher Wode and John Fitzjames the younger, their heirs and assigns, to the intent that they shall make the said Stephen an estate for life in the manor and advowson of Castelcombe, and after his death shall hold the same to the use of John Neuburgh for four years; after which they shall make an estate thereof to John Scrope and his then wife and to the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to John Scrope and the heirs of his body, remainder to Richard Scrope and his heirs, according to the will of the said Stephen delivered with his hands to Richard earl of Warwick; his further intent is that John Neuburgh and his co-feoffees shall grant to him a yearly rent of 10l. issuing from the manor of Oxendon, that for fourteen years from this date they shall hold that manor, taking the issues and profits to the use of John Neuburgh, and shall then make an estate thereof to John Scrope and his then wife and to the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to John Scrope and the heirs of his body, remainder to Richard Scrope and his heirs, according to the aforesaid will, that John Neuburgh shall marry the said John Scrope when he will without disparagement, that if he die unmarried the said feoffees shall make an estate of the said manors and advowson for life to one of the daughters of John Neuburgh, and if John Scrope die married before an estate be made to him, they shall make an estate thereof to his wife for life. Memorandum of the delivery, 15 July this year, to the sheriff of Cornwall for execution of a writ (text follows), tested at Westminster, 14 July, 7 Edward IV, directing him to cause all lands and chattels of Richard Kendall at the date of his recognisance or after to be extended and appraised, and to be seized into the king's hand for delivery to John Broughton esquire until contented of the debt hereinafter mentioned, certifying in chancery in the quinzaine of Michaelmas next how he has executed this command; as on 28 November, 1 Edward IV, before Geoffrey Feldynge then mayor of the staple of Westminster, deputed to receive recognisances of debt therein, Richard Penpons of Trevaswethen 'gentilman' and Richard Kendall of Lostodyell 'gentilman,' made a recognisance to the said John for 70l. payable on Midsummer day then next, and have not paid the same it is said; and the king ordered the sheriff to take their bodies, if laymen, and to keep them in custody in prison until they should content John Broughton of that debt, causing their lands and chattels to be extended and appraised, and to be seized into the king's hand for delivery to the said John until thereof contented according to the ordinance, and certifying in chancery at a day now past how he did execute that command; and he returned that Richard Kendall has no lands nor chattels in the sheriff's bailiwick, neither was he found therein; and the king is informed that at the date of the said recognisance and after, he had divers lands and chattels in Cornwall.
