Thomas Gymber, Joan his wife of Theydon 'attemont' co. Essex, John Herde of the same and William Smyth of Stapylford Tany, to Richard Smyth, Thomas Edward and Richard Bette of Theydon aforesaid, their heirs and assigns. Charter of demise and feoffment, with warranty by Thomas Gymber, of a messuage there built with croft of land adjacent in the said town between the high way from Northwelde to London and land called the 'Berdonsfelde,' one head abutting upon land called of old time 'Chamberleyns' and the other upon the 'Berdonsfelde' to the south, as shewn by metes and bounds, which messuage and croft the grantors had by charter of demise and livery of Stephen Tylere. Peter Marmyon of Thame co. Oxford 'gentilman,' to Thomas Hardgrove of Nutteshelynge. Recognisance for 500l., to be levied etc. in Oxfordshire.
Condition, that he and Robert Marmyon his son shall abide and perform the award of John Markham the chief justice and Robert Danby chief justice of the Bench knights, arbitrators chosen on behalf of the said Peter and Robert and of the said Thomas and Christina his wife, touching the title and possession of all lands in the county of Southampton late of Edmund Forster, and all actions, debts, trespasses, suits, plaints, debates and demands between the parties, so that the same be made in writing under their seals before Midsummer day next, the said Peter shall at his own cost within three weeks after Easter next withdraw or discontinue any suits and actions by him begun against the said Thomas in whatsoever court of record, shall by that date do his diligence, by requiring the said arbitrators to take upon them the arbitration, and shew them his evidences concerning the said lands, and until Midsummer day shall keep the peace toward the said Thomas.

Order, for urgent causes specially moving the king and council, to adjourn the court of exchequer from this instant morrow of St. Martin until the morrow of St. Hilary next, and to continue until then all writs, summonses and processes returnable or pending in the exchequer before that date. Order to pay to William Gomme priest 4l. a year for life and the arrears since 11 December, 1 Edward IV, on which date the king appointed him chaplain to celebrate in the chapel of Holy Trinity within his park of Restormell co. Cornwall, taking for life 4l. a year of the issues of the receiver's office, with houses, gardens and other profits to the chapel belonging, even as John Jolyff chaplain thereof in 41 Edward III, had for his stipend.

To the receivers, farmers, bailiffs and other the occupiers for the time being of the manor or lordship of Chilternlangley co. Hertford. Order to pay to John Langley esquire the king's servant 11d. a day for life, and to pay him the arrears since 5 February, 1 Edward IV, of 4d. a day for keeping the park of Chilternlangley, 4d. a day for keeping the houses of Chilternlangley manor house, and 3d. a day for the office of under parker of Langley park called Chilternlangley, amounting to 11d. a day; as by letters patent of 5 February aforesaid, the king granted to the said John for life the keeping of the park and houses aforesaid and the office of under parker, to be occupied by himself or by deputy, taking for each office of the issues and profits of the manor the wages, fees and rewards due and accustomed in time of King Edward III or Richard II, and in 14 Richard II the wages due for keeping the park were 4d. a day, for keeping the said houses 4d. a day, and for the under parker 3d. a day, as appears by certificate of the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer sent into chancery by command of the king.

To the sheriff of Southampton for the time being. Order every year to pay to William Fenys of Say knight the wages hereinafter mentioned; as on 20 January last, the king gave him for life the keeping of the castle and town of Porchestre and of the forest and warren there, further granting that during his life he might appoint under him a janitor, artillier and watchman dwelling in the castle for safe guard thereof, to be occupied by himself or by deputy taking of the issues, profits and revenues of the said county such wages for himself and the others as were of old time due and accustomed, with all other fees profits etc. likewise due of old time; and it is found in the great roll of 2 Richard II, that 41l. 13s. 8d. a year was allowed in the sheriff's account for Robert de Ayssheton, to whom King Edward on the 15 February, 50 Edward III, committed the keeping of the said castle, town and forest, for wages at 8d. a day in time of peace and 12d. in time of war, and wages of a janitor with a groom to keep the warren at 4½d. a day, an artillier at 6d. a day, and a watchman at 3d. a day, as appears by certificate of the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer sent into chancery by command of the king and remaining on the chancery file.

Order in presence of the next heirs of Richard Strikeland esquire to assign dower to Richard Page and Beatrice his wife, who was wife of Richard Strikeland; as for a fine paid in the hanaper the king has pardoned the offence and trespass of Richard Page in taking the said Beatrice to wife, and of the said Beatrice in marrying him without licence of the king.

Order to pay to Edmund Shaa the king's subject, citizen and goldsmith of London, 20l. a year for life and the arrears since 4 March, 1 Edward IV; as by letters patent of 26 February last, the king granted him for life from 4 March aforesaid the office of graver of the king's irons for coining his moneys of gold and silver within the Tower of London, the realm of England and the town of Calais, to be occupied by himself or by deputy taking yearly for graving in the Tower the wages and fees to that office due and accustomed of old time, and all other wages, profits, rewards, customs etc. to the same pertaining as any occupant of the office heretofore had; and in 1 Henry V, 20l. a year was allowed to Gisbright van Brandenbergh then graver of the coins within the Tower, and was paid him by Henry Somer then warden of the change and mint there.
