Aug. 6.
Pontefract castle.
To the sheriffs of Norwich. Writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of John Alderforde, William Champeneys, John Sloleye clerk and William Dersyngham of Norffolk to set free Robert Dikelburgh of Norwich 'cordewaner,' John Prallynge 'that was Roberdesservant Dikelburgh,' and Richard Prallynge, if taken at suit of the king and John Massenger of Norwich against the said Robert and John Prallynge for admitting into their service and retaining the said Richard, who was retained in the service of John Massenger at Norwich and left it before the term agreed, although required to give him up, in contempt of the king and contrary to the ordinance made by King E[dward III] and the council, and against the said Richard for leaving the said service contrary to the ordinance.

Memorandum of an undertaking under a pain of 100l., made 19 March this year by John prior of Bernewelle for himself and the canons his fellows, their men and servants, that they shall do or procure no hurt or harm to the tenants of the town of Chestreton, and that the prior for his part shall keep all things contained in an act made before the king and council touching disputes and debates whatsoever between him and the said tenants.

To the justices of assize in Essex. Writ of supersedeas, and order to prorogue until Christmas next an assize of novel disseisin concerning tenements in Brakstede before them arraigned by Walter Grey and Margaret his wife against Thomas Aston esquire; as the defendant is abiding in Wales upon the king's service. Philip de Estecote to William Hankeforde knight, Christina his wife and Richard their son, and to the heirs of the said William. Quitclaim with warranty of all messuages, lands etc. in the parish of Frethelstoke called Estecote. Dated 1 May 6 Henry IV.

Nottingham castle.
William Benet the king's serjeant is sent to the prior and convent of Lenton, to take of that house such maintenance as Roger Crophulle deceased had therein. By p.s. [4424.]
To the sheriff of York. Incomplete entry, reciting a writ whereby the king ordered the sheriff to attach John Cateryk clerk and Thomas Barton, William Thesdale chaplains, William Gayteshede of York goldsmith, William Briscowe clerk and Thomas Kyrkeby of York clerk his proctors, executors, notaries and summoners, so as to have them before the king in the octaves of Michaelmas to answer to the king for a contempt and to Richard Conyngston clerk for damages and wrongs, John Cateryke having by virtue of a papal provision accepted the prebend of Laghton in Morthynge in the cathedral church of St. Peter York which the said Richard had by collation of Richard late archbishop of York the patron, and was in possession on 29 January 13 Richard II and no small time before, and having sued for execution of that provision in the court christian within and without the realm, to the annulment of such possession and of the statute of provisors published in the aforesaid year.
