Canterbury.
John Baligate of Lowystoft co. Suffolk to Thomas prior of Christ Church Canterbury. Recognisance for 20l., to be levied etc. in Suffolk.
Memorandum that this recognisance was taken by the chancellor.
Condition, that he shall save the prior and his successors harmless toward the king and his heirs and toward any others concerning a boat arrested to the prior's use by Stephen Patevyn esquire within the prior's lordship of Layesdoun in the Isle of Shepey co. Kent, and delivered to the said John.

Westminster.
To the sheriffs of London. Order to give notice to William abbot of Westminster to be in chancery one month after Easter next in order to shew cause wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the appeal of Agnes Carpenter otherwise Frankeleyn, writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of William Childe 'taillour,' John White 'baker,' John Notyngham 'baker' and William North 'cordewaner,' all of London, to set the appellant free, if taken; as at the request of the abbot, signifying that by his authority as ordinary the said Agnes, being of his jurisdiction, was excommunicated for contumacy, not willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriffs to justify her by her body until she should content holy church for her contempt and wrongdoing; but she has appealed to the papal see and for protection of the court of Canterbury, and is purposing to prosecute her appeal, and the king has given her the day aforesaid; and William Childe and the others have mainperned in chancery to have her there that day.
