June 1408

[June 15. (fn. 1) ] To the mayor of Bristol. Order, as many times ordered, upon petition of Martin de Castera the king's liege, late master of a barge [called the 'Seint] Martin' of Baioun, as he will avoid the king's wrath to make restitution of his barge and a third part of the freight thereof, or of the price or value of the same if they exist not, knowing of a surety that, if by virtue of this command restitution shall not be made, the king will cause it to be made of the goods of William Guienne and William Criche merchants of Bristol passing by sea; as his petition shews that about two years ago the said William and William did unlawfully rob him of his barge and a third part of the freight thereof, together amounting to 275 marks. By p.s. [5744–5.]
