To the escheator in Norhamptonshire. Order to take the
fealty of Robert Stury, and to give him livery of the manor of
Bernewelle, and the issues thereof taken; as it is found by
inquisition, taken before the escheator, that Alice who was wife
of Richard Stury at her death held that manor for life by gift of
John Holt, William Bakwelle, Walter Childe chaplain and William
Walsh made with licence of the king to them and the heirs of the
said Richard's body, with remainder to John Chaundos knight
and to the heirs male of his body, remainder to John Paule
knight and to the heirs male of his body, remainder to Robert
Stury and to the heirs male of his body, that the said Richard,
John Chaundos and John Paule are dead without issue male, that
the said Alice after died thereof seised as aforesaid, that the said
manor ought to remain to Robert Stury and to the heirs male of
his body, and that it is held in chief; and for 20s. paid in the hanaper
the king has respited the homage of Robert Stury until Easter next. |

To the escheator in the county of Suthampton. Order to
remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of
Chaulton, delivering to Gilbert Talbot knight any issues thereof
taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the
escheator, that Isabel who was wife of William Ufforde sometime
earl of Suffolk at her death held no lands in that county in chief
nor of any other in her demesne as of fee nor in service, but held
the said manor in dower after the death of John Straunge her
first husband, with reversion to the said Gilbert, being son of
Ankeretta sister of John son of the said John Straunge and his
cousin and next heir, and that the same is held of the duchy of
Lancastre by the service of paying yearly at Michaelmas one pair
of spurs price 6d. |

who was wife of Ralph Monboucher an oath etc., and in presence
of his heirs, or their attorneys, to assign her dower. |

To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Writ of
supersedeas until the quinzaine of Easter next in respect of their
demand upon Robert Cary escheator in Devon to answer or
account for the issues of the manor of Bradworthy, that meantime
it may be debated whether the same ought to pertain to the
king or no; as a plea is pending in the king's court between the
king and Philippa who was wife of Edward duke of York, one of
the daughters and heirs of John Mohun knight and Joan his wife,
whether the same was held by Elizabeth who was wife of William
de Monte Acuto earl of Salisbury in her demesne as of fee. |

To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer, and to the
chamberlains. Order to account with Simon Gaunstede the king's
clerk, keeper of the house of Converted [Jews] London, or with his
attorney, for his wages and fees and the wages and fees of two chaplains and one clerk serving the house, and for the wages of Henry
Wodestoke, Martin and Peter his sons, Joan the Convert and Alice
her daughter converts of the house, even as used heretofore to be
done with the keeper thereof for the time being, allowing him such
as used to be allowed, and that the treasurer and chamberlains shall
pay him of the treasury what they shall find due to him and in
arrear since 3 June 3 Henry V, on which date the king by letters
patent committed to him the office of keeper, with the wages, fees
etc. thereto belonging. |

To the escheator in Northumberland. Order to take the fealty
of Robert de Ogle knight the son, and to give him livery of 120
acres of land and four and twenty messuages held of the king in
burgage, and the issues thereof taken since the death of Robert
Ogle knight, but to remove the king's hand and meddle no further
with a third part of the manor of Angrave and other the messuages
hereinafter mentioned, delivering to him any issues thereof taken;
as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator,
that by fine levied in the king's court in 22 Richard II Joan
who was wife of Robert Ogle knight at her death held for life
that third part, and eight and twenty messuages and 120 acres
of land in Bamburgh, Tynemouth, Felton, and Wollour by
gift of William de Thymmylby parson of Bothalle and Alexander
Burgh chaplain to her husband and her for life, with remainder to
the said Robert son of Robert brother of Alexander de Ogle and
to the heirs male of the body of Robert brother of Alexander, for
that the said Alexander, to whom the premises ought to have
remained had he lived after her death, died without issue male,
and that the said land and four and twenty of the said messuages
are held of the king in burgage, the other messuages and the said
third part of others than the king. |
