Feb. 5.
Westminster.
To the escheator in Cambridgeshire. Order to give William Kenewalmersshe, Master Philip Morgoun, John Bathe clerks, Bartholomew Brokesby, John Russell, Nicholas Saucer, Walter Kebbylle, John Daundesey and Thomas ap Llewelin livery of the manor called 'Colvylesfee,' and the issues thereof taken, but to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the other manors and the advowsons hereinafter mentioned, delivering to them any issues of these manors taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator, that Hugh Burnell knight at his death held no lands in the escheator's bailiwick of the king or of others which may be seized into the king's hand, but was seised of the manors of Swavesey and Fulborne called 'Souchesfee, Colvylesfee' and 'Maneresfee' and the advowsons of the free chapels of Swavesey and Fulborne, that a fine thereof after levied in the king's court a month after Michaelmas 5 Henry V between Joan who was wife of William de Bello Campo of Bergevenny knight, Philip Morgan, John Bathe clerks, Bartholomew Brokesby, William Boteler of Yatton, Nicholas Saucer esquires and Richard Pepur esquire now deceased plaintiffs and the said Hugh deforciant, by name of Hugh Burnell of Holegote knight, whereby the said Hugh acknowledged the right of the said Joan, to her and the other plaintiffs and to her heirs; that they after granted the same, by name of the manors of Swavesey and Fulborne with appurtenances, to John Garlethorp, Thomas Huyes, John Northerne clerks, Robert Keleby and William Aubray, their heirs and assigns, who made a grant and demise thereof to William Kenewalmersshe and the others and to Richard Pepur, their heirs and assigns, that the survivors are yet thereof seised, and that the manor called 'Colvylesfee' is held in chief by the service of half a knight's fee, and the other manors and advowsons of others than the king; and on 30 October last, for a fine paid in the hanaper, the king pardoned the trespasses herein committed, and for 40s. there paid has respited until Midsummer day next their homages and fealties due for the said manor and for other lands in other counties.
To the escheator in Warwickshire. Order to give the said William, Philip now bishop of Worcester, John Bathe, Bartholomew, John Russell, Nicholas, Walter, John Daundesey and Thomas, whose fealty the king has commanded the escheator in Cambridgeshire to take, livery of two thirds of the manors of Bordesley and Hayberne, and two thirds of the view of frankpledge of Aston, and the issues thereof taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator, that Hugh Burnell knight at his death held no lands (as above), but held sometime for life the manors and view aforesaid of the heritage of Joyce wife of Adam Pesehale knight, Joyce wife of Hugh Strauley esquire and Maurice Berkeley knight, that a fine after levied at Westminster on the morrow of All Souls 7 Henry V between Joan who was wife of William Beauchamp knight, John Braaz, Walter Kebbylle and John Garlethorp clerk plaintiffs and the said Adam and Joyce his wife deforciants of the reversion of a third part of the same, which Hugh Burnell held for life, whereby the deforciants acknowledged the right of the said Joan, granting that reversion to the plaintiffs and to her heirs, that another fine levied at Westminster three weeks after Michaelmas 5 Henry V, between Nicholas Ruggeley esquire and Edith his wife plaintiffs and Hugh de Strauley and Joyce his wife deforciants, of the reversion of a third part thereof, whereby the deforciants acknowledged the right of the said Edith, that another fine there levied one month after Michaelmas 5 Henry V, between the said Joan, Philip, Bartholomew and John Russell plaintiffs and the said Nicholas Ruggeley and Edith deforciants, of the reversion of a third part thereof, whereby the deforciants acknowledged the right of the said Joan, that Hugh Burnell, by name of Hugh de Burnell knight lord of Holgote and Weoleygh, reciting that he held the said manors and view for his life with reversion of a third part to the said Joan, Philip, Bartholomew and John, their heirs and assigns, made a surrender and quitclaim of the two third parts to the said Joan, by name of Joan de Beauchampe lady of Bergevenny, the said Philip, Bartholomew and John, that the said Joan, John Braaz, Walter Kebbylle and John Garlethorp granted to William Kenewalmershe and the others and to Richard Pepur now deceased, their heirs and assigns, the reversion of the third part which they purchased by fine of the said Adam and Joyce, and Hugh Burnell by deed attorned tenant to them, that he after made a surrender and quitclaim to the said William and the others of the third part of the said manors and view, that by virtue of the said grant, attornment and surrender they were and are yet thereof seised, that the said Joan, Philip, Bartholomew and John Russell by charter made a demise and grant to John Gerlethorp, Thomas Huyes, John Northerne clerks, Robert Keleby and William Aubray, their heirs and assigns, of another third part which the grantors by fine purchased of the said Nicholas and Edith, that John Gerlethorp, by name of John Garlethorp, and the others after made a grant and demise thereof to William Kenewalmersshe and the others and to Richard Pepur now deceased, their heirs and assigns, by virtue whereof they were, and the survivors yet are seised of the said two third parts, that those parts are held in chief by knight service, and that Hugh Burnell at his death held no other lands in his demesne as of fee, for life or otherwise; and for a fine paid in the hanaper the king has respited the homages of William Kenewalmersshe and the others until a day yet to come.

To the escheator in Leycestershire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of Assheby la Zouche, delivering to William Kenewalmersshe (and the others above named) any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that Hugh Burnell knight held no lands etc. (as before), but was sometime seised of that manor, that a fine thereof after levied at Westminster one month after Michaelmas 5 Henry V between Joan who was wife of William de Bello Campo of Bergevenny knight, Philip Morgaun, John Bathe clerks, Bartholomew Brokesby, William Boteler of Yatton and Nicholas Saucer esquires and Richard Pepur esquire now deceased plaintiffs and the said Hugh deforciant, by name of Hugh Burnell of Holegote knight, whereby the deforciant acknowledged the right of the said Joan, that the plaintiffs were seised of the same, and after by charter made a grant thereof to John Garlethorp, Thomas Huyes, John Northerne clerks, Robert Keleby and William Aubray, their heirs and assigns, that they after made a grant and demise thereof to William Kenewalmersshe and the others and to the said Richard, their heirs and assigns, that by virtue thereof those grantees were, and the survivors yet are seised of the said manor, and that it is not held of the king.
To the escheator in Staffordshire. Order to give William Kenewalmersshe and the others, whose fealties the king has commanded the escheator in Cambridgeshire to take, livery of two thirds of the manors and advowsons of Mere, Hondesworth and Clent, and the issues thereof taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator, that Hugh Burnell knight sometime held for life the said manors and advowsons of the heritage of Joyce wife of Adam Peschale knight, Joyce wife of Hugh Strauley esquire and Maurice Berkeley knight, with reversion to them, that a fine of a third part thereof after levied in the king's court on the morrow of All Souls 7 Henry V between Joan who was wife of William Beauchamp knight, John Braaz, Walter Kebbylle and John Garlethorp clerk plaintiffs and the said Adam and Joyce deforciants, whereby the deforciants acknowledged the reversion thereof to be the right of the said Joan, that the plaintiffs after by charter granted to William Kenewalmersshe and the others and to Richard Pepur now deceased, their heirs and assigns, the reversion of that third part, held for life by Hugh Burnell knight lord of Holgote and Weolegh, which the grantors acquired by the fine aforesaid, that Hugh Burnell attorned tenant to those grantees, that by name of Hugh de Burnell knight, lord of Holegote and Weolegh he after made to the survivors a surrender and quitclaim of that third part, by virtue whereof they were and yet are seised of the same, that another fine levied at Westminster three weeks after Michaelmas 5 Henry V, between Nicholas Ruggeley and Edith his wife plaintiffs and the said Hugh de Strauley and Joyce deforciants, of the reversion of a third part of the said manors and advowson, whereby the deforciants acknowledged the right of the said Edith, that another fine of the said reversion of a third part levied there one month after Michaelmas 5 Henry V, between the said Joan and the others plaintiffs and the said Nicholas Ruggeley and Edith deforciants, whereby the deforciants acknowledged the right of the said Joan, that Hugh Burnell, by name of Hugh de Burnell knight lord of Holgote and Weoleygh, made a surrender and quitclaim of that part to her, by name of Joan de Beauchampe lady of Bergevenny, and to the other grantees, their heirs and assigns, that they by charter made a grant thereof to John Gerlethorp, Thomas Huyes, John Northerne clerks, Robert Keleby and William Aubray, their heirs and assigns, that John Gerlethorp, by name of John Garlethorp, and the others made a grant and demise thereof to William Kenewalmersshe and the others, and to Richard Pepur now deceased, their heirs and assigns, that by virtue of their grant and demise the survivors were and yet are thereof seised, and that the said two third parts are held in chief by knight service; and for a fine paid in the hanaper the king on 30 October last pardoned the trespasses herein committed, and for a fine there paid respited the homages of William Kenewalmerssh and the others for these and other lands in other counties until a day yet to come.
To the escheator in Worcestershire. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning [two thirds of] the castle of Weolegh, the manors of Northfelde, Cradeley and 'Oldeswynforde' and the advowson of 'Oldeswynforde' church.
To the escheator in Norhamptonshire. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning the manor and advowson of Haselbeche, whereof a fine levied at Westminster one month after Michaelmas 5 Henry V between Joan who was wife of William de Bello Campo of Bergevenny knight, Philip Morgaun, John Bathe clerks, Bartholomew Brokesby, William Boteler of Yatton and Nicholas Saucer esquires and Richard Pepur esquire now deceased plaintiffs and Hugh Burnell of Holegote knight deforciant, whereby the said Hugh acknowledged the right of the said Joan, and the plaintiffs granted the premises to him for life, reciting a charter whereby they after granted the reversion thereof to John Garlethorp, Thomas Huyes, John Northerne clerks, Robert Keleby and William Aubray, their heirs and assigns, a surrender after made to those grantees by Hugh Burnell, and a demise and grant by them after made to William Kenewalmersshe and the others and to Richard Pepur, their heirs and assigns, by virtue whereof they were, and the survivors yet are thereof seised, and that the same are held of the king by knight service as of the duchy of Cornwall.
