Westminster.
Thomas Eyre of London 'draper' to John Astley of Astley co. Warrewyk knight. Recognisance for 400 marks, to be levied etc. in the city of London.
Condition, that he shall abide and perform the award of John Olney and William Combes citizens and aldermen of London touching all actions, trespasses, debates and demands between the parties, with proviso that the same shall be rendered in writing under their seals before 22 March next; and if the arbitrators may not agree, the award of John Fortescu knight chief justice appointed to hold pleas before the king, with proviso that the same shall be likewise rendered before Palm Sunday next.
John Wakefeld, son and heir of John Wakefeld citizen and grocer of London deceased, to William Walter citizen and 'pouchemaker' of London and Joan his wife, who was wife of John Wakefeld the father. Confirmation indented with warranty of their estate for her life in name of her dower in an inn called the 'Belle' wherein is a hall in external length from north to south 22½ feet and in external breadth from east to west 18 feet 3 inches, a kitchen in external length from east to west 26 feet and in external breadth from north to south 22 feet, two shops thereto pertaining in 'Birchenlane' in the parish of St. Edmund the King 'Lumbardstrete,' another tenement adjoining the inn on the south side late in the occupation of William Walter, another in the said parish now in the occupation of Thomas Welles citizen and draper of London, and the third part of a yearly quit rent of 26s. 6d. issuing from a tenement of John Walderne in the parish of St. Dionis 'Bakchirche' wherein Thomas Derlyngton citizen and weaver now dwells, all of the heritage of John Wakefeld the son with reversion to him, and grant that they may at pleasure build houses, cloisters and other buildings in all the inn and the garden and precinct thereof from a tenement of his wherein John Clement lately dwelt and another wherein John Frebern lately dwelt and in the whole length and breadth of the hall and kitchen. Francis Jungent master (patronus) of a galley of Barselon, and Daniel Justynyan and Lewis Scotus attorneys for the merchants thereof to John Morys of Bodennyk co. Cornwall, purser (bursario) of a barge of Henry duke of Exeter called 'Makerell.' Acknowledgment of the receipt on 29 January last, in name of the duke, of 38 whole pieces of woollen cloth of divers colours, 72 whole pieces of linen cloth, 27 pieces of 'say' of divers colours, seven dozen of strait white, seven dozen of strait coloured, three white 'kerseys,' one red kersey, ten remnants of woollen cloth of divers colours, two whole pieces of 'worsted' doubled, four whole pieces of 'fustyan,' 24 bundles of caps, 62 pieces of vessels of tin, 31 basins, 71 pieces of 'wyre,' three hauberks, 31 brass pans (patellas), three bankers (bancaria), 366,000 pins, 498 sheets of iron, 420 bundles of thread, nine dozen spurs, five painted cloths, one remnant of scarlet containing 17 yards, one green coverlet (coopertorium lecti), 3½ dozen knives, three dozen pen cases (pennaria et calamaria), eight dozen cases (custodias) for spectacles, four candlesticks, 300 hats of Parys, one whole butt of pins, one whole barrel of pins and one blue cover of 'tapicerye.' Memorandum that on 25 June this year John Marmyon esquire, son and heir of Mauncer Marmyon of Ryngston co. Lincoln knight, appeared in chancery at Westminster in person ready to pay 50 marks to John lord Duddeley knight in name of Mauncer his father, according to a recognisance there made by him and John Cheyne of Ditton co. Cantebregge esquire on 26 February last, and did tender the same, and the money was openly counted in court, and John lord Duddeley appeared not to receive it, neither did any attorney for him, so by his default the money remains in the hands of John Marmyon.

Witnesses: John Sutton 'barbour,' John Baker 'joynour,' John Colyns 'cordewaner' citizens of London. Dated 6 November 27 Henry VI.
